She's one of the best singers in Sweden - she had major voice issues on this performance - and no, noon could have done it better when she's on fire, and well... she actually had fever and flu on this performance, wich tells you what kind of an amazing artist she is :)
Some facts to mention about this: Carola is very well known across Europe, she is called the Swedish Schlager Queen. Schlager is a style of music, very popular in Germany and Sweden, and the uplifting positive vibes are very characteristic of this type of rhythms. Keep in mind, that in Eurovision the voices are always live and the maximum of people on stage (or outside) is 6 (including backing singers, dancers musicians and lead singers) This kind of music sounds very Eurovision-esque, it is hard to find it out of the eurovision world. But the contest is bigger than this. You can find many different styles, genres, and fusion music, many countries like to send entries with some traditional sounds. Thanks for reacting to eurovision. Keep doing it! I love it
@@ronnopotter whatever, but she never appeared in Germany besides Eurovision. So she was never popular in Germany. Btw. Helene is some 20 years younger.. so in the 80's and 90's there was no schlager queen in Germany besides maybe Claudia Jung and Nicole... later Michelle and Andrea Berg.. Helene came much later
React to her other Eurovision songs the one from 83 called Främling , she was 16 and came 3rd, and her winning song from 91 called Fångad av en stormvind
Thanks for your reaction. Yes and do react to more eurovision songs. Looking forward to it. Btw Carola has had a fantastic success in Sweden for decades. Even if her voice was a bit discussable here she does have an amazing voice.
Carola took part three times in Eurovision in 1983, 1991 in which she came first and in 2006, all these times she had problems at 1983 the microphone didn't worked and the first word of the lyrics wasn't listened, in 1991 the half of the song wasn't listened in the studio despite the fact we listened everything on tv and in 2006 she has some vocal problems
The surprise on my face when I saw this. 😂. I’m from Sweden so am very familiar with her. You’re so polite “it’s interesting”, lol. But seriously her voice wasn’t so good here, usually it’s much better, quite unique actually. But from MJ to this, nah. Love your reactions of MJ, Mariah, Whitney etc 🙏 🙏🙏
She performed three times in Eurovision for Sweden. With Invincible she finished 5th. Her first appearance was in 1983 with Framling or Stranger, 3d place and she gave Sweden their 3d victory in 1991 with Fangad av en stormvind, Caught/Captured by a storm, English version Captured by a lovestorm

You should react to Carola's songs from her album Runaway from 1986, the album was produced by Maurice Gibb and the songs written by the Gibb brothers (Bee Gees). Carola's voice is flawless and perfect when she's not ill as she was during this performance. You need to hear more of her and I'm sure you will like her voice too. React to Carola and her songs "The Runaway", "Radiate" and "Nature Of The Beast" from the Runaway album. These songs are very 80's and brilliant.
Also forgot to mention if you are going to dig into Eurovision you have to know this. There are going to be fantastic ones, bad ones, crazy ones. But you will be entertained.
Carola has been a thing in Sweden for a very long time. She was like 15 or 16 when Främling released and that song has been played on the radio over here ever since ofc not as much these days. U might wanna check out Fångad av en stormvind which she won this competition with way back in 1991.
Carola was actually part of the ESC 3 times directly, in the 80's (where she became 3rd), in the 90s (where she won, I think 1993) and in 2006 (where she was in the Top 10, I think 8th). That is a great result spree, especially over 3 decades!!! - Only one better on average was Katja Ebstein from Germany, who became 2nd once and 3rd twice which is the best participation without winning for 3 participations :D

You seems to have a thing for Swedish artists/music 😉 You've reacted to this one Loreen, Roxette, Alcazar a dozens of ABBA tunes!! Dereck: You should listen to her album "Runaway". The Bergens Brothers wrote the music. There's lots of good songs on that album like "The Runaway", "Radiate", "Nature Of The Beast", "When Two Worlds Collide" to mension a few..... I hope you will do a reaktion on one of these songs. ❤❤❤❤
You should check out the movie Eurovison: The story of Fire Saga by Will Ferrell, came out this summer. It's hilarious and perfect satire about the entire experience that is Eurovision.
If you run out of Eurovision classics, give Melodifestivalen a try. It is the Swedish trials for which song to send to Eurovision and if you think Eurovision is hype, then Melodifestivalen is manic.. Not as diverse in the type of music, but still some good and interesting classics!
Incredible! I love the fact that you're reacting to Eurovision Song Contest entries and would like to check out more of those. Carola Häggkvist is very well known indeed. She has taken part for Sweden three times at Eurovision. In 1991 she won the ESC. She has a great voice. You should react to this one by her: ua-cam.com/video/iAtvnhwxOpM/v-deo.html A song entitled "Säg mig var du står" in her native Swedish, from her first album, released when she was 16, back in 1983. Also, check out Margaret Berger and the song "I Feed You My Love", the Norwegian Eurovision entry 2013 :-)
The year we thought we were sure to win with this song- but didn’t. 😅 I love her voice, I think she is incredibly talanted. Not a huge fan of her songs in general, though.
Carola is classically trained. There's a video here somewhere where she sings with Andrea Botcelli and uses her opera voice. There's also a video where she performs U2's "In The Name Of Love", backed by a 10,000 people choir. (I think it was 10,000. It was a while ago.) In this clip she was very sick. Her voice is normally much better than this. BTW, I enjoy your videos (especially the Swedish ones 😉)however I will give you a little tip that might increase your subscriptions. Absolutely don't take this the wrong way please. Here it goes: Stop your habit of repeating yourself twice. It's very distracting and takes away from the enjoyment of watching your reaction. I'm telling you this with love and just maybe it can help you. A speech therapist can help if doing it on your own is too difficult. How we speak in front of an audience is more important than people think. They might not know what bothers them when they listen but they will turn away. Anyhow, tons of love and hugs! 😍🤗
Carola is SOOO freaking good, but this isn't her best... AT ALL. The best is when she sings the songs she LOVES. Like this one: ua-cam.com/video/YMIRCwVhd7k/v-deo.html ....... OR together with Andrea Bocelli: ua-cam.com/video/aUnnLoEd1wQ/v-deo.html
Nice performance but not the best choice when it comes to voice. For voice power please react to Conchita Wurst with Rise like a Phoenix or Aminata with Love injected. And you still haven't reacted to any song from the unbelievable Loic Nottet. I would suggest Million eyes (VIDEO) or his Eurovision performance with Rhythm inside...
You should take a couple of song from 80s movies. Good Covid-19 band remakes from At the Movies. Like this one ua-cam.com/video/lMTNXC9oqto/v-deo.html from Dirty Dancing or this one ua-cam.com/video/j9O-wya_0N8/v-deo.html from Rocky IV. Great rock remakes!
I almost never react but since we're talking about Carola and because I'm halve Swedish I couldn't resist. And I know already i'm not gonna make myself popular but she's way OVERRATED!!! There are way better artists walking around in Sweden, trust me. Same for eurovision. Artists like Loreen, Elena Mechayeva, I think, anyway she sang La Forza and Loic Nottet... Now those were performances!!! And i'm sure I forgot a few!!!
Lyrically, both the Swedish and English versions are not all that. Although, I personally found the English version the worst. Her singing is a matter of taste, but she did screech her way through this one. Her Eurovision career started in 1983 at the age of 16 with the song "framling" (stranger). There is also a Dutch (je ogen hebben geen geheimen meer) and English version ( love isn't love) of this song. Again, the English version is bloody awful. In the gay community she caused a backlash when she alienated many gays and some heterosexual fans in an interview by alleging that she knew homosexual people who had become heterosexual through prayers. She mainly known in Sweden for her devout Christian faith and her membership of the controversial evangelical church "Livets ord" (Word of Life). She has also been quoted as saying that homosexuality would "still be unnatural to her". Carola is a bit like surströmming in Sweden - you either love her or can't stand her. 😏
The performance was great, but as many people already have noted in the comments she suffered from major vocal issues during spring 2006. I wish she would have sung in Swedish and been able to show off the clear, strong voice she is known for
She's one of the best singers in Sweden - she had major voice issues on this performance - and no, noon could have done it better when she's on fire, and well... she actually had fever and flu on this performance, wich tells you what kind of an amazing artist she is :)

Recommended the Pearl ,live from 2001👌❣️
Carola is Epic... Listen to Ruth Lorenzo Dancing in the rain... Looking forward to your reaction
helena paparizou - my number one, Eurovison Winner 2005
Please! De Eurovisión por España🇪🇦 Anabel Conde
The song!
(Vuelve conmigo)
One of the best live performances. The live orchestra gave her a standing ovation. From the 1995 contest.
@@marciawilson1490 si!👍👏👏👏👏
please react to "secret garden - nocturne" (eurovision 1995 winner from Norway)
Dereck: You should listen to her album "Runaway". The Bergens Brothers wrote the music. There's lots of good songs on that album like "The Runaway", "Radiate", "Nature Of The Beast", "When Two Worlds Collide" to mension a few.....
I hope you will do a reaktion on one of these songs. ❤❤❤❤
The BeeGees **
A tragedy, that she didn't win!
I am still upset about it!
CAROLA RULES
Hennes låt hjälpte mig genom en svår operation.
The year that monsters won over vocal delivery. :) #hardrockhallelujah
Carola had big problems with her vocal cords during that period. 🤭
You should react to “Amar pelos dois” by Salvador Sobral (Portugal 2017)
You should check out the movie Eurovison: The story of Fire Saga by Will Ferrell, came out this summer. It's hilarious and perfect satire about the entire experience that is Eurovision.
How did i not see this... ESC is such a beautiful mess... you should watch more ESC performances
I love her voice, I think she is incredibly talanted. Not a huge fan of her songs in general, though.
The swedish version is evighet in swedish
Carola is classically trained. There's a video here somewhere where she sings with Andrea Botcelli and uses her opera voice. There's also a video where she performs U2's "In The Name Of Love", backed by a 10,000 people choir. (I think it was 10,000. It was a while ago.)
In this clip she was very sick.
If u like u can react the opening of this Eurovision it was one of the best openings it was in Greece 2004 🇬🇷
Please react to spain eurovision EDURNE "AMANECER"👍
Norway's Alexander Rybak was/is so different and so good! Fiddler and folkdance, but still Eurovision.
Super. Love your reactions. Please, may you react to Caruso digital clarity_Lara Fabian? 🙏 So emotional.
Can you do Polina Gagarina (Russia)"A million voices " Eurovision 2015 please?
Well best Carola song is fångad av en stormvind.. needs to be on Swedish as that highlight her voice better.. she sucks when she sings in English
Måns Zelmerlöw Hero 🙏
☺️💕.
Hi, Please react to Eleni Foureira - Fuego from Cyprus and Pastora Soler - Quédate conmigo from Spain. Thanks.
Judges would have put her first.
Hope Your Still Doing The Carpenters Reaction
She had a throat disease during this performence, thats why her voice wasn't 100%. Look at 'säg mig vart du står' together with zara larsson 2020...
Carola is SOOO freaking good, but this isn't her best... AT ALL. The best is when she sings the songs she LOVES. Like this one: ua-cam.com/video/YMIRCwVhd7k/v-deo.html ....... OR together with Andrea Bocelli: ua-cam.com/video/aUnnLoEd1wQ/v-deo.html
And this one: ua-cam.com/video/cII4bUo_-Es/v-deo.html
Do Måns Zelmerlöw - Hero eurovision
Nice performance but not the best choice when it comes to voice. For voice power please react to Conchita Wurst with Rise like a Phoenix or Aminata with Love injected. And you still haven't reacted to any song from the unbelievable Loic Nottet. I would suggest Million eyes (VIDEO) or his Eurovision performance with Rhythm inside...
Loic
i think it's typical Eurovision cheese.. nice at the night, but completely forgettable afterwards.. if any I like her 1983 entry much better...
You should take a couple of song from 80s movies. Good Covid-19 band remakes from At the Movies. Like this one ua-cam.com/video/lMTNXC9oqto/v-deo.html from Dirty Dancing
or this one ua-cam.com/video/j9O-wya_0N8/v-deo.html from Rocky IV. Great rock remakes!
I will stop here, but check out this one as well, Agnetha from ABBA Gary from Take That
ua-cam.com/video/1jQF2VUghIw/v-deo.html
I almost never react but since we're talking about Carola and because I'm halve Swedish I couldn't resist. And I know already i'm not gonna make myself popular but she's way OVERRATED!!! There are way better artists walking around in Sweden, trust me. Same for eurovision. Artists like Loreen, Elena Mechayeva, I think, anyway she sang La Forza and Loic Nottet... Now those were performances!!! And i'm sure I forgot a few!!!
Honestly I don't feel anything special about this song. The same typical Eurovision song we've heard thousands of times. NEXT!
Elle est nulle cette nana ! Please react to Conchita Wurst, ESC 2014
She lost her voice years ago. Its still ok but not even close as before she turned 40.
The performance was great, but as many people already have noted in the comments she suffered from major vocal issues during spring 2006. I wish she would have sung in Swedish and been able to show off the clear, strong voice she is known for
You should react to UK 2017 Final! The staging is so good
