I noticed a lot of similiarities to the Yu-Gi-Oh opening, like instrumental music, a monologue by Dan Green and even a short montage of the main characters. Not sure why, seeing as Yu-Gi-Oh was already a few years old, so there's much less to capitalize on.
Both series' English dubs were done by 4Kids, so it makes some sense that they would use that general style of intro when it already worked (Their One Piece dub had an opening narration of its own, though the theme song did have lyrics). That said, I would argue that Yu-Gi-Oh's intro is still much better.

One Piece, Sonic X, Kirby Right Back at Cha, Pokemon, Yugioh, F-Zero GP Legend, Shaman King, Tai Chi Chasers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,...........winx club for some reason, dragon Ball Z Kai, Ultimate Muscle, Cubix and Yugioh were the shows I watched and loved as a kid. But One Piece was my absolute favorite.

I kinda like it. It gives his character more mystery and throughout the show the role of Captain Falcon gets bigger and more important. I thought it was a nice touch.
Just so everyone knows, The Voice of Dr. Stewart is Dan Green AKA the Voice of Treeko from Pokemon and the Voice of Both Yugi and Yami Yugi from Yugioh.

I really would love to know *how* this bombed so hard in the west, I personally liked it. (I can see why the GBA game bombed, but I also don't think it's that bad) Never could find any of the English episodes so I ended up watching the Japanese one subbed.
I think it bombed in Japan, too. It's because of that Nintendo left F-Zero dormant and didn't make any more anime based on their properties other than Pokémon.
know a lot of people say that the Japanese opening is better. But this is what I grew up with as a kid so I'm biased by nostalgia ofcourse. But personally as a fan who grew up with the series going all the way back to the very first game, I personally feel that this opening was more fitting with the series. Because the game series itself has never really had any lyrics besides a couple original music tracks in the GX story mode, besides not it's pretty much always been just Bass music by itself. But if you would end lyrics to a show where the entire video game soundtrack is mostly just music it would come off as something awkward and not fitting. Totally lame reason if you ask me...Maybe F-Zero wouldn't be on such a LOOOONG hiatus right now if they'd have let the show run its course! They probably would've finished all 51 episodes before they became 4kids.TV, so it still had potential to be a good dub!
Not bad, but I prefer the Japanese one. This does show the difference in the emphasis of the two shows though, the emphasis on Rick Wheeler's racing and the F-Zero racing in the American version versus the "Legend of the Falcon" and Falcon versus Black Shadow in the Japanese version.
I actually love the English version better.. However, I know a MAJOR difference of this version and the Legend of Falcon version. On episode 2, you can see Jack's Astro Robin and Rick's Dragon Bird in the garage scene of where Jack and Clash were talking about Rick. The looks of it on 4kids and FoxBox looked EXTREMELY more epic and awesome than the one in the Japanese version. And like I said, I really wish they haven't cancelled the whole thing after the 15th episode...
One of the few 4Kids dub openings to have no lyrics. I'm actually impressed.

As awesome as The Meaning of Truth is, this theme actually sounds like something you'd hear in an F-Zero game.
