  • A good reminder that everything is important! Taking the time to thoroughly check the car is something we take very seriously and this is why.

The 2014-2017 Chevy SS has similar spacers from the journey from Australia. Removal instructions were on the PDI checklist and on a large sheet of paper plastered to the windshield right in front of the driver and they still missed them. Over the years I've lost count of the number of folks that had been driving the car for an extended period (in one case over a year) and when they complained about the ride on our forums we told them to check the front struts for spacers. Guess what they found! Many sales people would talk of lost sales because of the cars handling, at which point I would show them the spacers, still installed (I travel for a living and am a Holden addict, so I would visit every Chevy dealer I came across to check out the SS's). Some salespersons didn't even know the sold a 4 door SS. I had to show them on their own computer 😆. I still have a set of spacers from one of my SS's as a souvenier. Don't get me started on them leaving the tire pressures set to shipping pressure.🙄

I worked as a detailer at a Chevrolet dealership from 2014-2017. One of my duties was to look over every vehicle that got dropped off to note any damages. If damage was found that the truck driver didn't note before delivery, it would come out of his pocket and not ours.
Anyway, I own a Pontiac G8 and my father ordered a new 2017 SS. I knew to look for those spacers. Came into work one morning to find his SS in our parking lot. The car was dropped off after dealership hours. First red flag was seeing a tennis ball sized dent on the passenger side C pillar. I then looked for the spacers and didn't see any of them. Knowing how low the car sits without them I figured I better look at the bottom of the front bumper. I didn't see any damage but thought I'd better get it up on a lift to check the rest of the car. After lifting it up you could see the oil pan had been damaged by the truck trailer. Not sure how you hit the oil pan but not the front bumper, but he found a way. The truck driver was upset at the bill he got for the repairs but also admitted that he was the one who removed the spacers.

One would think it would have a sensor/warning message system alerting that these transport pucks are still there, being a German vehicle and all.

If it was done on a tablet and you have to check off each thing, all one has to do is say, YES.

@@IIGrayfoxII Most of these inspection systems CDK, Reynolds etc has 'Check all green' and people don't care anyways.
