The song that she's singing was my parents' wedding song, and one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite musicals ever, "West Side Story!"" Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim, who were the two composers of the musical, are both smiling down on you, Sarah! They would be so proud of you! Well done! Natalie Wood who played Maria and Richard Beymer who played Tony, would have been pleased too! For those who have not seen the musical or the movie, this is the song that the two lovers in the story, Tony and Maria, sing when they want to escape after Tony has killed Maria's brother Bernardo in the rumble, and they are looking for a place where they can be together with no violence and no fighting away from the streets of New York in the 1950s. They sing this as a song of hope and love. Maria is crying, and Tony starts to sing this to comfort her before she joins in with him. It's a very poignant scene in the movie. Tony is American, and Maria is Puerto Rican. This is like a modern version of Romeo and Juliet. I would recommend seeing the old classic movie instead of the remake, it's my favorite! I highly recommend seeing the musical too if you haven't already!
