We take a ride on the newest Washington State Ferry to the San Juan Islands. The MV Samish. It is pretty much like other Washington State Ferries although the seats are very comfortable. The decor of the ferry is much like you see visiting a DMV or other government building but it is very clean and well laid out with plenty of indoor and outdoor places to get out of your car and relax during your crossing.

1:08 Just think of driving onto/off of a car ferry like moving through a close-quarters multi-level parking garage- move slowly, be deliberate in every action, and keep a sharp eye out for corners and people!
2:07 lawl! I've been riding WSF for 27 years, and I've _never_ seen a dolphin, but sea lions and sea otters are sighted once in a great while, seagulls, blue herons and cranes are aplenty, and orca whales are a rare treat only at certain times of year.
3:22 Buying food on _any_ WSF- be it vending machine or the galley- is still -fucking stupid- expensive.
    3:54 lel
4:03 Mnn, speaking of "workhorses", say Hi! to the larger fifty-year old _Super_ Class M/V _Yakima._
4:29 one long and two shorts = a groan and two grunts
7:03 Yeah, but locals and tourists also know that a shorter hop in a seaplane is _way more expensive_ than driving onto a car ferry, and you're leaving your car behind for a rental at your destination; very restricting and expensive even for a day trip!
Aside from whisper quiet engines, the _Olympic_ Class boats ( M/V _Tokitae, Samish, Chimacum_ and now _Suquamish_ ) have very generous passenger areas that are surprisingly wide for their size, but the ceilings are noticeably a few inches lower to accommodate the Sun Deck and not make the boat too tall.
The angle of the car ramps up to the second parking level are not as steep, and the interior of the car decks are more open and ventilated than the ones on the mid-size workhorse _Issaquah 130_ Class (of which the _Olympic_ Class is succeeding).
To conform to state regulations, there are now two wheelchair accessible elevators on each side of the boat opposite each other, and these go from the main car parking deck up to the open-air Sun Deck.

Great video ! We absolutely love the built in humor you add to your productions. Here's a fact we tuned in to last time we rode a ferry...They only have enough life jackets and lifeboats for about 50% of the passengers aboard at capacity ! Kind of like the Titanic ! That's OK... the orcas will help for sure if we're thrown into the frigid water. ; ) Keep em coming please.

+Robnord1 Hi ya Rob. I always appreciate your encouragement. Thanks. It's scary to think that there might not be a life vest waiting for you if the boat goes under. I guess the people with the best elbow punches and throat chokeholds will get all the vests. Next time I think I will put a couple of life vests in my trunk along with a few extra to sell in the public areas.

There are enough life-jackets for everybody, just not enough life boats. The idea is that another boat is always 20 minutes away, so that boat will "donate" its life boats. the newer vessels like the Samish, Tokitae, and Chimaum are fully equipped with enough life boats for everyone onboard.
