    Watching you makes me regret giving up on a life doing panel beating and spraying. But 30 years ago my manager was the tightest wanker known to living man and I just couldn't go on working for a tosser who saw no value in the work I was doing. My loss! Keep inspiring people Mr Gunny. Cheers, Bob

    Always grateful for the vids dude now more than ever! My whole shop just burnt down to nothing and i just lost everything. Guns melted and booth disappeared none of it being my fault, some dodgy foreign guys syphoning fuel over an extension in the bit next to me destroyed the entire 100m long building. Your vids really help keep me loving painting and help motivate me to keep going with starting the new shop so thank you:) all the best dude

    to turn off the trunk light in most cars, use a screw driver in the latch and it will go out. just remember to hit the trunk button before you close it again.

    Hey Gunman! Im an automotive painter myself, started bout 2 years ago and truthfully, the problem i face the most is on blends. I’m basically a vendor and offer my job outside which already makes it hard with all the trash and the air. Okay, but the thing is, the dealership decides weather we do a blend or a full bumper and I personally do not like doing blends because Im still not so great at taking them out & I have never actually been taught how to do so. Could you make a video on how your personal take a blend out after it has been dried. Thank you! Big fan of yours

The paint is a red-blue pearlescent paint 3L2(Super Red) with blue and gold flakes/pearls mixed in... Is it possible to colour match the paint and do you think I can fix it without having to repaint the whole bonnet???😭😭😭

    I'm new to your channel Gunman and I've been a watching a ton of your vids so I can get ready to do some spot repairs on my car myself. Awesome videos man! I do have some concerns that I still haven't been able to understand like should I always use filler when I go down to the bare metal or just primer? Also, I want to get an air brush because I really don't want to end up spraying big areas when i'm working on little spot repairs; so do you think a mini spray gun will work fine like an Iwata model? I know this might seem like annoying questions but I really want to paint some shit and i'm barely just starting out. Thanks!!

    I'd like to see something on matching existing factory orange peel...

  • @ConesuelaLadyTailor
    @ConesuelaLadyTailor 6 років тому

    I couldn't work like that. I would have to remove the bumper and mount it on the panel stand. Doing it on the car means you have to mask twice, once for primer and then again for the top coats. I do understand that you are working under instructions and I am working for myself but I think doing these types of jobs on the car is false economy. Having said that I have watched many of your videos and I cannot deny you are an excellent painter. Would I be right in thinking that if you were working for yourself that bumper would have been unbolted from the car?

    • @Bytrl
      @Bytrl 6 років тому

      False economy?? A piece of plastic to cover the car 1 time might cost $1. The box is $20 and its good for about 25 jobs. Even if you use a full roll of tape to mask a car once, that's about $5. Find a single part for a BMW that costs $6 or less should you accidentally break a single clip. Not to mention the time saved. To remove a bumper for an experienced tradesman takes about 10 minutes realistically. And an experience tradesman earns roughly $60 an hour. So that 10 min equates to $10. Almost double the cost of the tape and masking plastic. Furthermore, car yard jobs DONT want to pay. That's the answer.

    Hi the gunman. Im running a crash shop in Adelaide and Ive been watching your videos to pick up my painting skills. Could you reconmend a good paint system but affordable? Im using cromax system which is dupont from SA Color at the moment but I just found the paint cost so much. Any ideas?

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  6 років тому

      That's a hard one, you want solvent or water? I find in busy shops you can't afford to use cheap paints, you'll waste way too much time colour matching and it will be a false economy to get cheap paint.

    • @maxma6221
      @maxma6221 6 років тому

      The Gunman
      the cromax system im using is a solvent based and comes with a spectrum to match the color. to be honest im happy with the system except the price. My next door is an italian guy who runs a body shop as well and his paint system is called "debeer". I tried a couple of base coat on my job and it looks OK but the price is only 60%-65% comparing to my cromax.

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  6 років тому

      I've never used debeer in a shop before but I've heard that for the price it's good, for me it really comes down to colour matching, quiz him on what it's like for colours, if you paint 3-5 jobs a day and spend half the day matching colours because the system is crap then you'll lose the money you save on paint to loss of productivity.

    • @maxma6221

      Just adding a few new HDDs this time, I initially built it in 2010, I've since upgraded ram, vid card Radeon R9 270 and a few other minor things but it still plays new games smoothly. Water-cooled Intel i7 processor at 3.4ghz still solid build. I tried upgrading to windows 10 but had nothing but problems with it, win 7 is so much more stable.

    • @dropinbiking92
      @dropinbiking92 6 років тому +1

      Stay with windows 7 for as long as you can. Windows 8 was a joke, and I REALLY am not happy with windows 10. I sort of got forced into it for gaming, but my laptop and second tower still run Windows 7 with no issues. All the videos must eat up a lot of harddrive space.

      Yep, it's unfortunate but it is what it is. At least if I do it I know it's at least been spot repaired properly, sure best off painting whole panels but the car yards don't want to pay.

    • @dropinbiking92
      @dropinbiking92 6 років тому

      I get what you're saying. The last shop I was at started taking on some of these spot up jobs for local dealers. We started charging less, not really to make any money off the jobs, but to keep the backyarders away from them. I'd rather blend a bar than strip it and paint it full 3 months after a back yarder does.
