      It was the biggest Polish chance of luck. If the Polish king had become Orthodox, he would have been chosen to reign in Moscow. Then there would be a Polish-Russian state from the Baltic to the Pacific ocean. but the king refused, the chance was lost.

      @@kotemura9090 Did you say about Ivan the Terrible? But it was because of Ivan the Terrible that this confusion began. Ivan the Terrible died in 1584. He left no heirs (the first son he himself killed with a blow to the head with a staff, the second-died in an accident). In Russia, there was no dynasty left, so the idea came to call the Polish king. But as you know, the Polish king refused to become Orthodox, as a result, the boyar Romanov became the king, which marked the beginning of the Romanov dynasty

      @Hubert Turski Who exactly took half of Rus prior to 1492?

    • @darkestmeme4167
      @darkestmeme4167 4 роки тому +45

      @Hubert Turski after the Mongol invasion, Rus was split into 2 parts, one of them was under a Golden horde, and the other fell under the influence of Lithuania. All wars in the territory of the Commonwealth or Lithuania were part of the unification of Ancient Rus lands. Only under Ivan Grozny did the expansion of the state begin. These processes are normal for any state at that time. There is no one to apologize to. And there is no one to excuses. In addition, Poland showed aggression against Russia.

    • @darkestmeme4167
      @darkestmeme4167 4 роки тому +7

      @Hubert Turski
      The desire of Ivan the third to conquer the Principality was dictated not only by his personality, but also by the desire of the Moscow principality to unite those lands that were part of Rus, but were subjugated either by Lithuania or the Horde.The population of these Principalities and their language were almost the same.
      There was no Russia under Ivan the Third. There was only a Moscow principality, which annexed the territory through military capture or diplomacy.
      In addition, Lithuania did not conquer the Russian principalities by any means in a peaceful way. For this reason, this side cannot be called any good or bad. Imperialism is inherent in many European states - Russia, Poland, England, Kaiser Germany, France and many others. T
      urkey too.Or do you think that in these countries imperialism arose also because of the Mongols?

    • @darkestmeme4167
      @darkestmeme4167 4 роки тому +6

      @Hubert Turski I think that when you take into account the “important” facts, you miss the real reasons for the conflicts between Moscow (later Russia) and Lithuania. Lithuania fought with the Old Russian state until the collapse of the latter. And just after the defeat of the Vladimir-Suzdal principality from the Mongols, Lithuania was successful and was able to capture a number of Old Russian lands in the 13-14 centuries. This fact is also important. Russian principalities were torn apart by the war with the Horde and could not resist Lithuania. Therefore, it is wrong to consider the Moscow principality the instigator of the war with Lithuania, and then with Poland. The fact that Russia had imperialism in more or less than that of other countries is just sophistry and subjective perception.
      Mongolian influence takes place in the philosophy of Russian tsars, but this influence is not the prevalent. Any state can develop and conquer land, as long as it has the resources and centralizations for expansion and holding positions. The state of Poland and Lithuania, which had 2 different armies, two financial flows, and 2 cultural centers, could not be effective. In addition, he had too many strong neighbors and no allies. Sad but true.
      Interesting fact: if you read the slogans of the Bolsheviks, you will see that they were directed against imperialism in Russia and around the world. Therefore, the crimes of Soviet goverment are not connected with imperialism.
      To say that the Moscow Principality and the Russian Empire committed crimes more than other states is strange. This position applies only to the USSR. German Reich and Turkey are on the same line thanks to the genocide of Armenians and Jews

      Actually a good video but there are some mistakes. When Poland conquered Moscow in the war of 1609-1618, the son of the Polish king became Tsar of Russia. Therefore, on the map at that time, the territory of Russia should have been marked as the territory ruled by Poland. A large part of the Russian nobility wanted to submit to the new tsar from Poland. Unfortunately, because of the king's incompetence mainly religious intolerance , Poland lost control of Russia. Despite losing control of Russia, the Polish Empire was able to conquer important areas such as the city of Smolensk.
      Which is also a mistake to mention the Polish Bolshevik War in the list of Polish-Russian wars. Because the Polish-Bolshevik War was not a Polish-Russian war, since the enemy were international communists and not just Russian communists. Many important Bolshevik officials were not Russian. Lazar Kaganovich was a Jew! He was the head of the bolshevik government of Tashkent! Solomon Lozovsky was Jewish! He was the executive of Communist International. Semyon Dimanstein was Jewish! He played a central role in the work of the People's Commissariat of Nationalities. Adolph Joffe was a Crimean Tatar! He was People's Commissar (minister) of State Control of the Ukrainian. Lazar Kaganowitsch was Jewish! He was the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Ukraine. Grigory Sokolnikov was Jewish! He was posted to Central Asia as chairman of the government of Turkestan and commander of the Turkestan army! Yakov Sverdlov was Jewish! He worked to consolidate Bolshevik control of newly conquered territories and coordinated there the Red Terror campaigns. He also played a major role in authorising the execution of the Romanov royal family in July 1918. Lev Kamenev was Jewish! He was President of the Council of People's Commissars and Politburo chairman. Yakov Yurovsky was Jewish! He was Chief of the Gold Department of the State Treasury. The commanders of the Red Army were also international! Leon Trotsky was Jewish. He headed the Red Army as People's Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs. Sergey Kamenev was Ukrainian! He was commander in chief of the red army and the most important man in the red army after Trotsky. Joseph Stalin was Georgian! Commander of the Southwest Front! Mikhail Alafuso was Ukrainian! Another mistake in the video is that the wrong term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was used. Which unfortunately is a standard error. The use of this term is incorrect for two reasons! The first reason why the term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is incorrect is the fact that the incorrect use of the term Commonwealth gives the impression that the Polish state has some kind of legal basis for the equality and equal status of Poles and Lithuanians as the incorrect term Commonwealth would suggest. But this state was not a kind of legal basis for the equality and equal status of Poles and Lithuanians as the wrong term Commonwealth suggests. So the Rzeczpospolita was not a kind of legal basis for the equality and equal status of Poles and Lithuanians. Because that was a Polish Empire and not a Polish Lithuanian Empire. Poles dominated all peoples of the empire. Because the Poles completely dominated this state and were imperial ruling ethnic group. The Poles dominated the entire state! So also Lithuania. There was no equality whatsoever as the wrong term "common wealth" suggests. Polish wealth was always crucial. So if anything then Polishwealth and not Commonwealth. The state took over the Polish constitution Nihil Novi in1505 and not a Lithuanian constitution. Thi imperial constitution of 1505 was the actual founding of the Rzeczpospolita. Determined by the Polish Parliament Sejm! That the Poles dominated the state is also clearly shown by the name of the state. The ruling Poles have also determined what the state should be called Polisch Rzeczpospolita! But even before the establishment of the Rzeczpospolita Poland was an empire and then during the time of the Rzeczpospolita, Poland continued to be an empire! That was actually just the founding of the Polish noble Republic democracy by the Polish nobility. Which, amazingly, was nevertheless a monarchy with a king elected by the nobility!So the founding of the Polish monarchical noble republic as an elective monarchy. It was revolutionary at that time, because 10%-15% of the population, which was the Polish nobility at that time, had the power for the internal affairs of the state. In the rest of Europe, the proportion of the population of the nobility was 1% of the population and not 10-15% as in Poland. In the rest of Europe, with the exception of England and some Italian republics, monarchs ruled despotically. So otherwise despots rule everywhere! The revolutionary constitution Nihil Novi in 1505 passed by the Polish parliament applied to the entire Polish Empire as well as to Lithuania. Through this revolutionary constitution Nihil Novi in 1505, Poland became the Rzeczpospolita Nobles' Democracy! The state was no longer called the Kingdom of Poland, but the most serene (most high) Rzeczpospolita Poland. The constitution was the primary element of the democratic governance in the Polish kingdom which granted Parliament extensive powers. The Parliament (Sejm) was a powerful political institution and the king could not pass most of laws without the approval of that body.
      The second reason why the term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is wrong is the fact that it is a mistranslation of the Polish term Rzeczpospolita as I mentioned. So this term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is wrong! This term is wrong because the term Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth is a modern, nonsensical invention by 20th century historians that does not correspond to reality. This state was never called Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. NEVER! Used in international treaties and diplomacy, the state has been called the most serene ( most high) Rzeczpospolita Poland. Its residents simply referred it in the everyday language as Rzeczpospolita or Poland occasionally also the crown. The correct translation for Rzeczpospolita is Republic and certainly not Commonwealth. In other languages it is also correctly translated as a republic, but in English it is always translated incorrectly as Commonwealth. The wrong translation is used again and again. But even today, Poland calls itself Rzeczpospolita Polska, which is actually the official Polish name of the state! Lithuania doesn't call itself that way. Because in reality, Poland was the Rzeczpospolita in earlier times and is that still today! Not Polish Lithuanian Rzeczpospolita but the Polska Rzeczpospolita! Would anyone call Poland today Commonwealth because Poland today is Rzeczpospolita? Of course not, because it is wrong today as it was wrong in the past to call this Polish state Commonwealth! Today Rzeczpospolita Polska is also correctly translated in English as the Republic of Poland and not wrong Commonwealth Poland! Why is that then wrongly translated with Commonwealth for the earlier times. Actually absurd! Incidentally, the first documented with the use of the term Rzeczpospolit as a designation of the Polish state can be found in Maćka Borkowica's act of allegiance, for the Polish king Kazimierz the Great on 16. February 1358 in the town of Sieradz. At that time Lithuania was not yet united with Poland at all! So the Polisch term Rzeczpospolit was the name for Poland even then. Because even then the Polish nobility took the first steps towards becoming a noble republic! By the way, the state from back then is generally referred to in Poland as the 1st Polish Republic so the 1st Polish Rzeczpospolita in Polish I Polska Rzeczpospolita. Then in Polish, II Polska Rzeczpospolita is called the Polish Republic between the wars. The III Polska Rzeczpospolita is then the republic for the Poles from 1989 after the liberation from the soviet occupation. The by the communist henchmen so-called Polish People's Republic (in Polish Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa) to which Poland was forced by the Soviets, is not recognized by the Poles as a Polish Rzeczpospolita and therefore there are 3 Rzeczpospolitas and not 4. However generally in Poland the first Polish republic is recognized as the I Polska Rzeczpospolita from the 16th century. This republic is not called in Poland Polish Lithuanian Rzeczpospolita but only Polish Rzeczpospolita (republic). Because that was above all a Polish state and a Polish empire! Before that it was also a Polish Kingdom and Empire!
      The term Rzeczpospolita seems difficult to pronounce for non-Poles. But that is not the case at all. With a little practice, anyone can pronounce the term correctly, even you. A little help: Rz is pronounced like the "isi" in vision. So virzon sounds like vision. Cz sounds like the "ch" in church. So Czurcz sounds like church. But if one just use "sh" instead of "rz", that sounds close to Polish. "Ch" can be used instead of "cz". With these clues, everyone can probably read the term Rzeczpospolita. The Anglicized term Shechpospolita could also be used as an alternative. So Shechpospolita would be written in English, which could be pronounced without problems. So there is no reason not to use this correct term Rzeczpospolita or Shechpospolita.
      By the way, the Polish Empire could also be used as an alternative to Rzeczpospolita for this state if one wants to use a modern term. Because that was a Polish Empire and not a Polish Lithuanian Empire. Because the Poles completely dominated this state and were the rulers.
      So just a wrong translation and the false claim about equality and equal status of Poland and Lithuania that didn't exist! Because that was a Polish empire controlled by Poles.

He was Chief of Staff of the 3 Army. August Kork was an Estonian! He was the commander of the 6th Army. Hayk Bzhishkyan was Armenian! He was commander of the III Cavalry Corps. Well done! Good to remember these Polish heroes! By the way, that is actually a good video but there are some mistakes.
He was Chief of Staff of the 3 Army. August Kork was an Estonian! He was the commander of the 6th Army. Hayk Bzhishkyan was Armenian! He was commander of the III Cavalry Corps. Nikolai Sollogub was Belarusian! Commander of the 16th Army! Ivar Smilga was a Latvian! He headed the Revolutionary Military Council of the Western Front. By the way, apart from the fact that they were all international Bolsheviks, they had something else in common! They were all defeated by the Poles in the 1919-21 war. In any case, I could go on and on with the list of international Bolshevik officials and officers showing that this was not a fight against Russia, but against international Communism. Which is why this war of 1919-21 should properly be called the Polish Bolshevik War and not the Polish Russian War.
      I continue the comment below!

      @GreatPolishWingedHussars Рік тому

      @@wilhelmu Your claim does not correspond to historical reality! The term of the Rzeczpospolita of two nations was used very rarely. Because that was just an empty phrase that had nothing to do with reality. The term with the two nations was also not used as the name of the state. Used in international treaties and diplomacy, the state has been called the most serene ( most high) Rzeczpospolita Poland. Its residents simply referred it in the everyday language as Rzeczpospolita or Poland occasionally also the crown. In the document establishing the Rzeczpospolita it is stated that "by this agreement the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania are an inseparable, undivided entity and a common republic that united both states and nations into one people" So that contradicts this term with both nations.
      Incidentally, you don't use the wrong translation Commonwealth yourself and instead use "commonthing of both nations"! Why? Because Commonwealth is the wrong translation of Polish term Rzeczpospolita. Incidentally, Poland is still called Rzeczpospolita Polska in Poland today, which is translated into the English Republic of Poland and not wrong Commonwealth Poland. Republic not Commonwealth! By the way, Lithuania doesn't call itself Rzeczpospolita, just Poland calls itself Rzeczpospolita. Because that was always Poland and the name of the Polish Empire and State. So with the arguments I listed above and these additional arguments, you should then have understood that the term Commonwealth is wrong and that the term with both nations does not correspond to historical reality either.

      @GreatPolishWingedHussars Рік тому

      Yes, there were some mistakes in the video! For example when Poland conquered Moscow in the war of 1609-1618, the son of the Polish king became Tsar of Russia.
