    The Adani Group, one of India’s biggest conglomerates, has come under fire from a small American short selling hedge fund called Hindenburg Research. The firm, run by Nathan Anderson, is known for uncovering fraud and other issues at companies like Nikola Corporation, Clover Health, and Lordstown Motors.
    Let's dig into the allegations, the evidence and Adani's response and discuss what this means for Gautam Adani and for India.

    As an Indian I would like to add that Adani is not a house hold name in India, at least it wasn't for the longest time, I don't think it was very famous right before 2015-2016, their value and their brand has really sky rocketed around the pandemic and the subsequent lock down, and in my personal very humble opinion, it's a house of cards, how can someone build a sustainable, ethical and profitable business this big in that short of a time, again that's just my humble opinion.

      Publicly traded. However, they use private investment fund that they own to borrow money and buy their own stock, so the Adani family’s ownership of the company is a lot higher than it shows on paper. Problem is Adani recently shot up and most Indian investors don't trust him like some established businesses in India have been for a while. Ambani, Birla or Tata are household names for decades now. Adani isn't.
      Such a controversy in early years of Adani would definitely make things messy for the company. I wonder if Gautam is gonna step down and let someone else takeover to clear out of this mess.

      Adani was billionaire for long time. He just strated rapid expansion in last few years on the basis of loans. Not just Adani, but all Indian billionaires have/had this sort of relationship with this government / governments of the past (not a claim, but an open, public relation).

    The biggest audit firms in the industry constantly fudge their numbers either through incompetence or corruption, so not too sure why there is always such a negative association if a company chooses a smaller firm. Either way though Adani is clearly up to something dodgy though, great video!

    • @tomlxyz

      Because a small firm is too small for such a big company

    • @CA_Harshith
      @CA_Harshith Рік тому +1

      Not really... There are many small firms which audit listed companies. Lets not forget that a small firm is only auditing one company (at a time) among the hundreds of group companies of Adani group. The auditors are experienced enough to audit a company

      This is just a political shit-show.
      Without proof people are alleging that Indian PM Modi is friends with Adani.
      That's all there is to this "report".
      Otherwise, all its saying is that the stock is over-priced. Which happens **all** the time. Even Disney has fallen 50% in last 2 yrs. So it was over-priced too. Stocks being over-priced is as normal as sunrise/sunset.

    • @jonjeskie5234

      @@1lollmaolol1 not when it's this far detached from its fundamentals. Companies like Disney and Tesla Rose and fell due to macroeconomics, and it made perfect sense for their environment. Adani's is completely detached from the fundamental and macro circumstances.

    • @1lollmaolol1
      @1lollmaolol1 Рік тому

      @@jonjeskie5234 so if disney or any of other 10000s of companies fall 90%, that's just "macroeconomics", but when Adani falls 50% that in your estimation is a political scam and corruption?
      The market will decide, and your comments will, in my estimation, prove wrong cause adani's business of cement, power, airports, etc is more real world than facebook's. Adani will outlast fb, tesla and many other top companies in next 10-20 yrs.

    Patrick gave the entire talk with his right hand in his pocket. Is he trying to hide a Chinese Finger Trap on his pointer finger? I don't think that's all that probable because such traps require two fingers. Unless, of course, you were cursed by a woodland nymph. But that's ridiculous because what are the odds of that happening?
    In any event, I prefer this presentation style. It's so much better than other people I have to listen to who do their entire talk with their hand in *my* pocket.

    I mean like regardless of whether or not the short seller guy is basically just doing all this profit and has nothing to do with altruism, and I don't care either way because it's very funny, build scale of his confidence and the weakness of the response. kind of proves that either they are committing fraud and he's he knows that eventually he wins no matter what so whether they can force the issue and lose now or they can lose later, or adoni knows that modi will protect him because he has like a vice grip on power so and he doesn't need to really address it. he needs to do things for show that modi can play off of and that's good enough

    Unfortunately the losers will be ordinary investors who bought into the growth story just before the short report and bigger loser will be Hindenburg as their credibility will be decimated over a 2 year period. And surprise: the winner by a big margin will be Adani himself.
