I agree with him. Most kids will probably learn most curse words before they even leave elementary school. You probably won't be able stop them from saying them at some point, but teaching them when it's appropriate to do and why people do it will help.
He's got it right. He taught his kids when it appropriate to swear. Instead of pretending kids don't know the words or it damages them by hearing those words.
Wow! I thought I was the only rare one who still watched the language. lol Growing up around Grandma , Mom, Dad, Aunts and Uncles, who've all said at some point, "Boy, you better watch yo' damn mouth!", that has stuck with me practically all my life. lol
I think Ice Cube has a point. It's pretty much useless to teach kids not to swear when they learn it from their parents and peers anyway. The best thing you can do is to teach your kid when it's appropriate and when it's not.
A SH He's playing it up that's his perceived persona so he goes with it. He's really good friends with Conan and Kevin Hart both, check the video where the get a rent-a-car thingy. Just goes to prove his showmanship that you perceived him as a jerk.
Roughneck8 The ability to read between the lines is a dying art, as is the art of having braincells. It's amazing to me that there are this many people not aware of the fact that this is Ice Cube's stage persona and that there is such a fucking thing.
This isn't an argument - you asked a question, and was provided with an answer - one based strictly on fact, not opinion. O'Shea Jackson was a producer/executive producer on nearly every film listed above, a job that he did as "himself", If you're now stating that ''Ice Cube'' playing a role in a film doesn't count, then help yourself to IMDb. O'Shea Jackson is PG-13 on nearly every interview he has done for television programs, as well as most of his film commentaries. The exceptions being films that were Rated "R", interviews not governed by the FCC, and unrated content. The industry for films nearly forces it as a default for this to be the case, especially when you begin pursuing a "Disney" oriented career. "Cube" is also now pushing for his brand new film, which was suppose to be a raw urban movie, down to a PG-13 film. "I suppose news about a gangsta rapper-turned-producer of the TBS sitcom Are We There Yet? selling out isn't exactly a shocking revelation, but if you were hoping that Ice Cube might return to the anti-establishment soon, it doesn't sound like that's going to be the case. Instead, he's working with Disney to bring the rating down on his R-rated script for Chrome and Paint. Originally envisioned as a "a gritty Boyz N' The Hood-style drama" about South Central L.A.'s tricked-out car culture, Ice Cube is now going to be directing Chrome with an eye on a lighter rating that will please Disney suits and fetch a younger audience of sweet rim enthusiasts." I do apologize for ruining whatever facade you had built in your head for who O'Shea Jackson is, but you don't have a leg to stand on. You may now quietly depart from this comment.
It was the unspoken policy when I was growing up. Adults cuss when ever they want, kids with each other only. Never got into trouble cussed all the time, just never around the adults. They probably heard us every now and then, but we knew never to do it directly in their presence and we never got in trouble.
I dropped an f bomb in the house once when I was about 12 and my dad told me the same thing Cube did. I'm 34 and still don't really like to cuss around my parents. I keep it PG language.
@@reveredokay There's literally NOTHING that implies that he still lives with his parents. I'm surprised you couldn't rethink this yourself, but when you have parents, you often see them every once in a while throught the rest of your life or theirs after you've moved out.
Cursing isn't a crime though. I'm sure he's also teaching his kids the difference between right and wrong and that saying certain words is different than breaking laws. Think a bit deeper rather than blindly taking something at face value.
conan looks at ice like hes crazy! my mom used to tell me the same rules, Idk what you do with your friends, but respect adults. Until I was 18 and moved out i never once cussed in front of an adult unless i was screaming in pain due to an injury.
He is SO right about this. The new generation of kids isn't dumb, they will and I can sign any paperwork to guarentee they will learn curse words anyway through the internet or just by hanging out with other kids, the only way to help this is to just tell them when and when not to act in a certain way. This way, they will actually behave better knowing their parents understand them and have found a way for them around that.
TBH I think a lot more parents should be like Cube when it comes to cursing, because it's definitely true that kids will start cursing at a young age. I saw a kid that couldn't have been more than 8 at my son's school and they should've had some kind of a car wash in they mouths like seriously kids these days
"As long as no adults hear you; if adults hear you are in trouble" that´s like saying to your kids "It´s not bad to do bad things as long as cops dont find out"
He is absolutely right though. I was strictly taught by my parents not to swear and I would get punished if I did, but even so I still did swear when I was alone with friends, but I still to this day do not swear when my family is around and I'm 27 now. So he's right kids will swear no matter how strict they are raised not to swear, so him teaching his kids when it's okay to swear makes sense.
I think he would be an alright dad. Much like my self. Very open to all outcomes and willing to take a leading step without relying on some book telling me how to do it.
That's actually the most logical answer to cussing and yes I'm old say cussing, that I've ever heard. When to do it and where to do it because they're going to do it anyway. Showing them when it's appropriate is the key. Everybody has a group of friends where they act out and that's when it actually appropriate to not seem like a square.
My sons teacher called me because he cursed. I told the teacher I’ll handle him when he gets home. I told him exactly what cube told his kids, I don’t care if you curse but you need to be respectful around adults 🤷🏽♂️
Maddygurl12304996 He probably ment that as in if that's all you use to express yourself then yeah it shows a lack of vocabulary. You want to be flexible with your vocabulary since there are multiple ways of saying the same thing and it comes across differently in each way to each person.
