Samantha - first of all- CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU and your family! What a glorious gift she is, and she’s clearly been born into family filled with love and devotion. There is nothing more precious in this life, in my opinion! Second- as a labor and delivery nurse for 25 years-You have done a tremendous job of explaining your perspectives on your labor experiences in such a way that I believe would be helpful when educating others. Third- I have seen in person far too many times, nurses, who for WHATEVER unGodly reason believe that performing cervical exams in this very aggressive manner is the way to go. 😩😬Anytime I orient someone, I make it a personal undertaking to ensure that they NEVER perform exams like that-and I intend to use your video-and the specific way that you described how that felt to you (I’m so sorry by the way-just awful) to show them why it’s something I harp on so much!👍🏻 Finally -I hope and pray that your postpartum experience goes beautifully, and that the slowly unfolding process of adjusting to life with this beautiful child is as consistently positive as it can possibly be!!! You’re channel has been a gift to me for a long time now and I’m grateful for so many things you have added to this world through putting out your videos-this one is by far no exception! God Bless you three-Samantha, Gray, and new little angel baby!!! 🥰🎉🙏🏻
Congratulations! Prayers that you, your husband and new daughter enjoy a beautiful first year. The time goes by so fast, enjoy every second, it’s exhausting and amazing. You are an inspiration to families who are living with cancer and hoping to expand. Amazing!💛
Not a stupid and boring story. Thanks for sharing your Alaskan birth story. Your daughter is beautiful and you seem so happy. You and Grey share as much as you feel comfortable with about your daughter.
She is absolutely precious! You did amazing! My mom went into rapid labor with my sister. I remember the anesthesiologist came in and the doc sent her away. My mom was so upset, she kept asking where she was going. She was just too far to get an epidural. She had my sister with no drugs and I remember sitting there thinking I was adopting after what my mom went through, but obviously that changed. My son was an emergency c section at 38 wks, and his birth story was pretty chaotic too! You just focus on your baby and don’t worry about keeping a video schedule because this is an amazing and incredibly tiring time! Congratulations on becoming a mama to a beautiful baby girl!
Thank you! If I had her back then, they would've HAD to check my progress before giving me the epidural and they would've told me I was too far along for it. These days they let you get it even if you're that far along so that's why I didn't get checked until afterwards :/
I couldn't have said it better! Your videos are never boring to me, Samantha. I am so glad that you and your beautiful baby girl are healthy and safe. Congratulations to you and Gray!! You both must be in heaven. Be well. 💜💚💜
Unfortunately, being born and raised in Alaska, our medical system has lost alot of its its caring nature I moved out of Alaska last year due to marriage but before I left I was diagnosed with bc and my entire care team there was so rude and very heavy handed and aggresive during exams and mammograms, when I moved to Washington I couldn't belive the difference. Please advocate well for yourself there. Anyways, Congratulations, eeeeeek on baby, so glad she is here and you guys are well💖
Congratulations I am so happy for you. I was going through cancer the same time is your however I had four kids before. Again congratulations to you and your hubby.
Congratulations to you and family!! So pleased that baby and mom and all is OK especially after the chaos of the evening. May your new family unit be blessed!!
Congratulations from another Alaskan. The description of your labor and birth were amazing! I used to type out birth stories (over 50 years ago) for a woman who was the head of the Childbirth Without Pain organization, Flora Hommel. I had three of my own - all wonderful. Love your telling of your story - fantastic!! Blessings!!
awww, samantha, i LOVED hearing about your birth story. wow. what a journey. in a blizzard! i DO hope you share her name......I would love to know what it is. Congratulations on your first baby! How exciting! after ALL you've been through, it seems almost miraculous. I've been following you for so long, I feel attached and affectionate towards you, and I am so happy for you. Please keep us updated. How fantastic. You guys are always in my prayers.
Congratulations. I was worried about you and the storm. Looks like you made it just fine. Looking forward to Saturdays news. Motherhood pleases you. Congratulations to daddy Gray.👍💕🙏
Congrats! My daughter had the same thing happen two weeks ago. Got the epidural and THEN they checked her and yeah….10. All was good though..Samantha, you did the whole labor, don’t discount a natural birth.
I mean this absolutely benignly. No negativity at all. But I am wondering: This was 4 months before your excrutiating metastsis pain started. Would it be possible that the discomfort from the sitting position was related to that?
I don’t think it’s related. It felt like the baby was trying to get out a certain way and by sitting, it was preventing her from doing that. Not sure if that makes sense or not
Awe you did great she is precious ❤😊 Also What a stupid question Why haven’t you had her sign these yet Um she was pushing a baby out 😂❤😏😏 but seriously
Such cute daughter. Congrats to you and your husband. Hope you're doing well. I'm sick with covid-19 🤒 I tested positive today. But covid started Fed 15th with fevers chills I do have a sore throat right now. I wonder what day I'm on. I hate being sick I hate covid sore throat 😞
I sat at 4 cm dilated for 5 weeks fml 🤦♀️ I was so scared I was going to have my son a little too early. But got to the hospital at term with what felt like period cramps and was 10cm dilated ready to rock n roll! I don’t get bad period cramps at all, and same with contractions with all my labors. I didn’t even know I was in labor until 6cm with my daughter because it wasn’t bad at all and I was waiting for the movie style labor pains. Even at delivery I never felt that at all. Just period cramps. I always joke I must not have many pain receptors connected from my uterus to brain 😂 the after labor contractions were way worse for me when the babies would breastfed.
My friend's daughter was in labour, but the nurses told her she wasn't ready, so they wouldn't come back. However, she was ready, and my friend actually caught her as she came out. Anyways, congrats on your daughter. She's beautiful! Will you ever tell us her name?
I had exact same with my 3rd I told the nurse at 2 I was having contractions at 3 they agreed took me delivering suite called for epidural he turned up got needle in he was just about to put stuff in and shouted nurse I can’t put it in baby’s heads here she arrived at 4 i had no pain relief as they told me after they completely forgot I’d not had anaesthetic! Had no gas and air not even a paracetamol !! So it was indentical !!
My first baby; water broke 8pm, arrived at hospital after midnight, no pain, just discomfort and 3 pushes and he was out. Congrats!

Thank you so much! Lol I would think a female nurse would know how uncomfortable that would be but I guess not

EIGHT POUNDS! whew...
I didn’t realize that was a lot haha. I was over 8 lbs at birth and Gray was a couple ounces under
@@SamanthaL I was induced. I was 7,14 at 6:57 pm.

In the hospital, you can't wait to go 🏡!
Why did the doctor leave without even checking. 😮 Were they all so busy to do the normal routine
I thought about this recently and I think it’s because the triage nurse told her I was just at 3cm right before I got to the room
I have actually told a patient, your cervix is lying to us, cause I could plainly see the progress all over the patient.
Lol I like that
