For anyone who cares to see this legendary run pulled apart and put under a microscope. What I am showing you is what is on the actual studio recording.
I hope you find this useful. Please like and subscribe.
Happy playing!

One thing to remember about GL licks and solos: George tends to teach the parts how he currently plays or remembers them, not how he played it on the record
You are 1000% correct.
👍🏻🎸

Nice!! I remember watching this on MTV when it came out, this exact part has always stood out to me, just like you said.
Great video
With you 100%!
I remember watching the video - seeing George’s fingers scream across the fingerboard, thinking “If I could play THAT, I could play anything!”
Thanks for watching and writing.
Cheers!

That's so weird how it goes from E harmonic minor to this weird chromatic descending sequence on the B string.
Harmonically, its kind of a mess - but it’s definitely cool. 😎👍🏻🎸
FRICK YES!!!!! I LOVE YOUR BREAKDOWN LESSONS! Would you by any chance be able to dissect some of those fills and licks from the song Mr Scary? I can't find anyone who makes them sound right and teaches them
Hey Josh!
Thanks so much, man!
I’d be happy to do a couple of them. The whole song would just be too much to enumerate and polish off at a worthy resolution. If you can give me an idea of a lick or two, I will see what I can do.
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻🎸🙂🤘🏻
@@gbalulis Awesome man! Just the first two or three main fills/mini solos that happen in the song would be perfect! I'll put the timestamps in the comment of your Mr Scary video
+1 for Washiington hat; +100 if Redskins.....
There’s a ‘skins helmet in the background. Locker room, no less.
HTTR!@@gbalulis
Both you and Doug Steele, the Lynch stuff is dead on!
If you just did some EVH and DeMartini , that would be hella cool.
Thanks for tipping me off. I’ll check Doug our ASAP.
Cheers!

@@gbalulis Doug had GL's vibrato on lock.
These detailed breakdowns of George's solos are incredible and your playing is sooo good, wow! Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us!
I've got a pretty random question for you, but of all people you might have some insight on this: The final part of the solo to "Shadows Of Life" on Dysfunctional has always stuck out to me as odd because it's such a quick flurry of notes and I have not heard George play like that otherwise. I've heard some crazy theories about ghost session players coming in on that album, but I don't know because the first part of the solo _does_ sound like him. What do you think, is it him?
By the way, don't consider this a request for a breakdown of that one, there are so many Dokken classics still waiting that deserve your treatment instead.
It is my pleasure, Don. Thanks for watching and for your kind words.
🙂👍🏻🎸
@@gbalulis Did you see my question? What do you think? Totally understandable if you don't know (or care), but as much as you clearly admire Lynch's playing surely you have some thoughts on it?
Hey Don,
Sorry. Had missed that initially…
I’ve never been too big on the Dysfunctional album, personally. I’ll give it a listen and get back to you.
Offhand, I’d be surprised if anyone soloed but GL. It would be without precedent.
😎👍🏻

After a listen, I believe its GL. Sounds similar to the dismount run from “Into the Fire”.
@@gbalulis Yeah, I hear that and agree with the "Into the Fire" comparison, especially the actual final part where its an ascending dismount. I really appreciate your insight and continue to look forward to your videos.
Another great breakdown on a monster of a solo part!!! 🤘🏼
Cheers to you, Ed. Thanks again!🙂🎸👍🏻
YAYYY U DID IT THANK YOU!!!!
My pleasure! You are welcome. 😃🎸

Your voice sounds like georges too. 😂❤
If that’s true, it’s 100 coincidental.
