Got in threw his t shirt, saved the lad, left his t-shirt and just vanished without lauding any praise. Well done fella no messing about just went straight in and got straight off.
Good on the chap who saved them but I do wish they would stop expecting the horse to carry them while swimming in deep water. Horses can and have drowned before at this event. Spoils an otherwise great annual event.
What an heroic action. Anyone who knows him will be very proud of him and are lucky to have him as a friend or family member. i have looked him up on you tube and plenty of others have congratulated him, as did I. I hope he is rewarded for his actions and wonder if i should write to his local MP to make him or her aware of what he did. Glad to see his name is included in one of the comments on here but didn't want to repeat it for his privacy.
Don't take any notice of the haters Christian whatever we do in life there will always be those that criticise. You're honest and trying to be positive and if everyone was like you the world would be a much better place.
There was a young lad drowning in the river Ouse in york and the police were stood watching .i asked why they didn't jump in to save him and was told they are not allowed to for health and safety reasons we managed to throw a floating ring in to him and drag him out to survive.
The two rspca officers? In heavy uniform? They did start to go into the water. And honestly, despite any amount of training, you never know how your going to react in an emergency situation. Something takes over and you can either throw yourself into danger to save someone else, freeze on the spot and not be able to move, or have a thousand thoughts running through your head and not know which is the best to go with.
Christian Hoyle. I'm no NO way taking anything away from David Waggitt who saved this person's life which is wonderful BUT what about those who helped/saved the horse too you don't even mention the wellbeing of the horse 😒 that could so easily of lost its life... I know in your full video account you say you are scared of the beautiful souls that are horses but you don't appear to care at all about it.
When faced with the loss of human life, my sole focus is drawn to them, and its very crazy at the time. I'm a massive lover of animals, and the horse looked absolutely fine when it got out. Sorry that I looked like I did not care of the horses I was drawn to the possible loss of a human and he was having a panic attack. Just to confirm, I am petrified of horses, but I still love them as they are beautiful animals, I'm just scared of them. Thanks for your comment., I would 100% save a horse if it was in danger, even though I would be scared
I was at Appleby. Was a great fair this year. Shame that happens with the chwvvvie nearly drowning People need to learn act on your ability not on what you want to be able to do. If that David Lad wasn’t there the horse and the kid would have drowned
well done to this guy!!! You did amazing saving that lad!! 👏 but in this video I'm abit confused as to why rspca are there? I understand the well being of the horses but no way in hell would a gypsy man be turning up with a horse in an ill condition!!!... they look after their horses as much they do their kids! Its a competition to show of your horses/ponies as well to sell. No way on earth would any horses/ponies be being neglected! To a gypsy person they love there horses 🐎 ❤ it's there way of life! Just frigging let them be! Not hurting anybody!!
Appleby Horse Fair needs to end now. Yet another horse died this year, 2024! These people have no love or compassion for horses. Totally sickening and cruel, in the UK, a country that claims to love animals!
@@Sally237-s4w There is no excuse for cruelty, tradition or not. The Gypsies are cruel to their animals, I have witnessed it personally! Animals were not put on earth to entertain humans, find something more productive to do with your life!
I dont know, but he was in a very state of panic. He was very shaken by the events and was suffering. David acted like he does this kind of thing everyday. I think he may of had a cape on under his T-shirt.

Anyone wondering why the t shirt comes off. This is to prevent a panicking person from pulling the t shirt over the rescuer's arms/head.
