Road to Abu Dhabi: A Documentary on the 2019 Special Olympics World Games

On March 5, 2020, the UAE Embassy introduced Road To Abu Dhabi, an inspirational documentary on the first Special Olympics World Games held in Abu Dhabi and the Middle East region. The film illustrates the UAE and the Special Olympics shared outlook for inclusion and equal opportunity among those living with intellectual disabilities, officially called “People of Determination” in the UAE. The short documentary gives an exclusive look into the lives of three Special Olympics athletes as they train and prepare to compete in the 2019 World Games. Spotlighting Ken Richter, Krystal Johnson and Garrett Ford, Road to Abu Dhabi explores the challenges and opportunities that arose as each athlete made their dream of joining the USA Special Olympics Team a reality.
