SPG Seasoning

- Today, I'm sharing a recipe for a simple SPG rub. The ingredients are:
1 Cup of Coarse Kosher Salt
1/2 Cup Granulated Garlic
1/4 Cup Coarse Black Pepper
As most folks may be aware, the ingredient requiring the least amount is the black pepper. Despite the small amount, it is very powerful and you definitely don't want to use too much of it. While you can also use garlic powder, granulated garlic supposedly helps to prevent clumping. I say supposedly, because I've used both garlic powder and granulated garlic, and it actually clumped a little using the granulated garlic.
You can use this seasoning on a lot more than just BBQ. At my house, it's been used on chicken, pork chops, vegetables, and even a breakfast bowl (sausage, eggs, and potatoes). - Навчання та стиль
You’re the first person to explain why to use granulated garlic. Thank you.
I need some SPG for a fried fish recipe so I will be using your recipe because I buy/use that same kosher salt. Tfs sir. Really appreciate it
Thanks Steve ! Something very useful !
Thank you...glad you saw some value in it.
Good video bro. hell i don't know my ratios i just mix it up and it comes out good lol. i just subscribed and hit the bell brother looking forward to following you.
I will have to try this ratio. I currently use 2:1:1.
It comes out pretty good
Can this be used on chicken wings or does it have too much salt?
Curtis NOVAK you can use it on wings
Does anyone grind their own pepper instead of the pre-ground stuff? Any difference?
Can't really speak on whether anyone else grinds their own pepper, but I'm sure they do.
Where’d you get granulated garlic
? Thanks
Kroger, Sam’s Club or Costco
Is ormal rock salt okay to use. The other salt is not available where i live. Just natural rock salt?
Terry Peake I wouldn’t recommend using rock salt. If kosher salt is unavailable, you can use regular table salt, you’ll just have to adjust the amount used
Everyday Life with Steve Thank you for the reply. In the mean time I googled Koshering salt. I am never using rock salt again. Turns out sea salt and Koshering salt are the same, so long as it is natural and has no iodine added. Seems Koshering salt is made to size for curing meats. I read Koshering salt is used to meant to make something Kosher (Had to google Kosher as well) I am thinking there must be a Jewish food store somewhere, so I will try to get Koshering salt from there. Learn something every day. Thanks for the reply. :)
I've been liking 4 2 1
i dont understand the 4:2:1 ratio... way to much salt for me
You can always find another recipe
how much would it be by weight
I didn't weigh it
