  • The Saab 35 Draken ; 'The Kite' or 'The Dragon' is a Swedish fighter-interceptor developed and manufactured by Svenska Aeroplan Aktiebolaget (SAAB) between 1955 and 1974. Development of the Saab 35 Draken started in 1948 as the Swedish air force future replacement for the then also in development Saab 29 Tunnan dayfighter and Saab 32B Lansen night fighter.
From the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight, The Draken amazed the crowd of the recent Jersey International Air Display 2023, held at the bay of St. Aubin at Jersey Island, UK.
A bit difficult to film as the flight line is facing the bright sun. I deliver to you the best of I can to show you the full display of the Draken.
All video footage and photos were taken by myself and my partner Aly.

\Great to see a Draken flying but why no rolling manoeuvres?

It displays what it was built to do; to climb as fast and high as possible, and then hit from above. It was meant to intercept nuclear armed bombers...

Interesting question. Perhaps a personal choice by the pilot?

@@alanh7495 They have a webpage... search for _Swedish Airforce Historic Flight_ , perhaps you can ask. 🙂
Seeing the J35 do a sloooow roll, is head tiltingly strange.
It did fly a so called "knife edge" in this video, something that doesn't really "compute". How is it capable of that, with that shape...
