Just catching up. Really exciting to see this develop. When I get some time I plan to follow your example and have a go as got most of the components. Wonderful stuff.
Hi, Mr. Popes! All 3 parts are up so you can definitely follow along and I can tell you, the first time you get a sequencer working it’s pretty darn exciting! And not very many parts, really.
Hooray! Aaron, you’re just the kind of person I did this series for! Figuring out how to build a sequencer was something I puzzled with for a long time and when I got the first one working - it’s magic, isn’t it? Thank *YOU* for watching and I hope, subscribing! Have a blast with your fresh circuit! 😃
Hiya, I have built a very simple 4 step sequence with a 555 and 4017. The lights count up to 4 then there's a 2 second gap then they count again. The reset is not resetting so there's not a fluid sequence of lights. I have a wire coming from reset to pin 10 of the 4017(output4) as it should reset there, but it does not? The wires from the outputs to led's are pin 3, 2, 4 and pin 7. Clock of the 4017 to pin 3 of 555. Any ideas why it's not resetting will be most appreciated, thanks. Brilliant and very informative videos, many thanks!
Reset pin on 4017 is 15. Clock pin is 14 and pin 13 (to ground) is clock inhibit - for clarity. Try adding a 10K - 100K resistor from reset to GND on the 4017 - in addition to the pin 10 lead to reset pin 15.
Oh my,,,i love this....i may have to look at these over again and build one...i think i have all the parts..i have some many chips..i'm sure i have this one
@@Sarahbuildsstepsequencers oh 666?....OMG i meant 555...lol.....don't have a 666...lol....but anywayyyys,,,yes i have the 555...i used that in my 8 step sequencer as well but i did need to bread boards for that one....
@@Sarahbuildsstepsequencers oh I didn't know that. LOL. Probably cross wide within the chip. Imagine that wow. Immediate fire LOL. What are you working on next
@@Sarahbuildsstepsequencers Just checked.. it's connected to ground.. must be something else.. if i don't connect the clock to 4017 i switches very fast between the led-s.
@@Sarahbuildsstepsequencers issue solved, for some reason unkown for me, i wired the diodes wrong :)) Got another question, will you be willing to make other tutorials with the more complex sequencers?
@@Co2peru hey, glad to hear it’s up and running! No, the more complex circuits are for sequencers I sometimes build for sale. Also, there are no schematics, lol. I’ve just memorized circuits I use over time so I build from memory. I suck at computer and drawing schematics. Neither is something I’ve ever strive to learn.
Hi Sarah, Unfortunately my hands shake so badly, I can't get the wires in the correct holes in the breadboard, so I tried to get the grandson to simulate the project in tinkercad to see if it works (much safer). The program will only allow 7v into the counter not 9v like your project and will count 8 steps and stop. Not your fault at all. But thanks for the reply and for providing an interesting project concept. Maybe I should find a better free simulation software.

Dude I just built my first sequencer thanks to you all my God I am so excited thank you thank you thank you this was amazing!,,',,,

This is so great! Thanks to you i succesfully wired up my first ever sequencer !!! Thanks a lot sarah
That’s great, Joe! So happy you got yours working! Enjoy and I hope you will subscribe!

I’ll be adding one more 555 timer chip and that’s all for the IC’s. All the pots are 100K and you’ll need 8 qty. 1n4148 diodes. You can do this, R.!

The 666 was discontinued due to horrific malfunctions resulting in fiery complications…

I used your design, but instead of switching from a led to the other.. it stay in place.. do you have any ideea why?
Yes. Insure that pin 13 of the 4017 goes to ground.

@@Sarahbuildsstepsequencers OK, i understand!
good audio -- good video -- easy to follow -- well done :)
Thank you very much! Will you build one?
Will not work in tinkercad, decade counter is slightly different, 555 counts to eight , then stops. frustrating.
Why do you need tinkercad for a diy? All you need are parts, breadboard, wire and battery..?

Sorry it didn’t work for you. I am not familiar with Tinkercad, so I haven’t any suggestions for you.
