Moose hunting is conducted to limit the growth of the moose population, as an excessively large moose population would lead to extensive forest damage and an increased number of traffic accidents.
Hunting methods
Jämthund is a very common breed in Sweden when free-range dog hunting for moose.

Wild dog hunting with a set dog is suitable in areas with large, contiguous lands. The dog handler walks with the dog loose against the wind.
