Alternative passives would actually be so hype. Choosing armour based on it's effect rather than small DPS increases or decreases would give much more variety.
Yeah a damage reduction buff on ahrims would be nice or a extra max hit if using ancient magics 🤔
Give ancestral a +5-7 magic accuracy and keep the proposed 4% DMG bonus and also bring it up to an 80 magic requirement to match torva and masori requirement.
Conversation time. Which path do you prefer/ think will make osrs more enjoyable:
1. End-game gear being 'worth the time' to farm, giving massive increases in dps.
2. End-game gear only giving a slight buff compared to second-best in slot to give that extra bit of dps to nail some time trials but at the same time not being absolutely required for end game content. Essentially making it more of a status symbol, while being able to run raids with people that have a bit worse gear and only losing like 5 minutes per raid instead of the current 10-15 minutes.
Personally I think the ahrims buff goes in the 2nd direction. Which I personally prefer, because it pulls more people into end game pvm, earlier. Ofcourse, with the current mega rare weapons being so insanely strong compared to any counterpart in their combat style that they're basically pay to win....I don't see how any updates can close this gap sufficiently. But what are your thoughts?

2nd i agree with, the nearest thing i can compare it is wow, you got gear that can get into raids for even better, making it more obtainable for a wider amount of players. You’re right theres a big gap from ahrims/robes compared to ancestral. I think this appropriate.

I actually think that's what my biggest problem with project rebalance is. I wish they'd make lots of small changes and poll them. I'm not opposed to the changes, but I struggle to see the benefit of what they're doing at this point and don't see any how anyone could reason about all of the impacts this will have.
The price differences between mid game and end game gear is astronomical. Occult necklace is very strong for its price, but it is also one of the only affordable magic buffs in mid game.
Ancestral shouldn't be reduced.
Voidwaker didn't need a nerf.
Why does everyone pretend like 93 slayer is a small achievment? That's probably a couple hundred hours.
-Make all the magic changes except the occult nerf.
-Nerf the Shadow back to exactly where it is right now.
This gives magic a buff to bring it closer to end game melee and range without the shadow obliterating the landscape. Done this way; the Trident style weapons get a small buff, magic items and prayers become usefull, magic max hits slightly increase (except shadow). Magic (except shadow) needs a small buffanyway.

Occulty adds +3 max hits to tridents at 99+magic, partially because jagex always rounds down. 3 max hits would bring your average hit up 1.5. Divide that by the 4 ticks it takes to cast 1.5/2.4 seconds =0.625 dps from occult.

You mean the 0% buff? It has a required glove slot competing with just a torm bracelet. Its vaguely useful when you're super worried about inventory space and learning like zulrah or tob. But nothing really beyond that

Im happy with the update to the mage changes from last time. Seems better that people are not forced to use augury on stuff like slayer barraging to get the same result as before
ancestral still does not feel like endgame compared to all the other items, needs magic % increase atleast back to 4% or some other bonuses
Ancestral should be 4%. I also think the eternal boots change was unwarranted, rather they release some new tribrid boots that outclass current BIS instead.

Arcane spirit at 3%, base ward at 4% and fortified ward at 6%.
Ah yes need more places to use the scythe but in the future we want NPCs with extremely high slash defense because of a spec weapon... makes tons of sense.
So tired of unpolled "integrity" changes making huge swings to the game, and the worst part is they're clearly just guessing and copy-pasting ideas from reddit. They're 'fixing' things that don't need fixing, project rebalance is a disaster so far. Insane that they're trying to balance magic without changing shadow. Just insane.

It'd be neat if jagex gave the occult a passive that decreased the mage reduction on tanky armours, or something similar. It would be broken but very cool.

Just remember folks: jagex will fuck their game up at every possible opportunity, and sometimes they will try to fix things after backlash. They don’t care about the playerbase, they push their agenda and take your money.
They need all these 1/2/3% items. Very happy to see void buffed appropriately. Mage's book is great.

I blame Reddit for *all* of this. Every change known to man has been requested over and over on Reddit and the developers keep listening. Soon this game will no longer be what we know and love because of Reddit.
Theyre in the same problem of shadow being in the same place and realistically nerfing everything before it. Which already isnt great.
Nerf shadow to x2 instead of x3. Leave the occult alone. That gives you +12% mage damage you can spread around to help. Put 3% on eternals and add 3% to all 3 pieces of anc making your max mage the same.
This leaves you to put magic damage on anything below max with impunity. Make virtus 4%. Ahrims 3%, whatever you want. And that % acts as a direct upgrade to trident only mages while still being worse than current max mage for shadow. Further it helps shadow users who havent gotten anc yet.

Elder maul could still use a special effect. Something like tbow or shadow have. Super strong against high def monsters or something. Or is ridiculously strong in cox like shadow is in toa. At the very least it should be best in slot at tekton like come on lol.
I think part of it is balancing for pking.

@@tygonmaster yea I could see that. Depends how the made an effect work. Tbows effect doesn’t work in pking so if they had an effect that worked same a tbow it won’t effect pking. Or it’s stats or powers only are active inside chambers won’t change pking. Having the spec bar now will make insta g maul even better. The spec bar is changing pking alone atm.

I'm with you on Ancestral. But you would def want to look at Shadow before making is stronger. Ancestral buff would be fine as long as Shadow was actually kept in check along side it.
Did not expect the Spirit shield buff but it kind of makes sense with how hard Corp is to get to/do. This is a lot better though and more distributed.

They just need to change magic armor to boost magic strength not accuracy and then you have an actual progression for mages.
im so happy they decided to nerf ancestral, it was looking to be 18% more powerful than virtus when using shadow compared to 6%more it was before.
Ancestral at 4% was devaluing Virtus' niche for ancients.
It's still a +3 over it, although I do think it could be given an extra 1 DMG bonus for ancients making it a +6 over ancestral for ancients.

The voidwaker will still be a dead item and no longer worth using in pvm with these changes. The point (and fun part) of using it is the guaranteed hit because everything that it's currently used at over claws or zcb has very high defense and mage level that can't be lowered - see: nex, kephri, baba. Even at 400% accuracy, your hit rate drops to like 70%. If it really needs nerfing (it doesn't), the damage is what should be looked at, not the accuracy. But people that don't even have VWs see "100% accuracy" and think "bad" without putting any further thought into it, and conveniently forget that bgs+dwh/claws/zcb are outright better in most situations.

edit2: They have available spec weapon reward space for stab, crush, and the new ranged light and medium weapons, heavy too if they can do something that could compete with zcb. They are definitely not in a corner and out of options for making spec weapons, and 100% accuracy to 70-80% is absolutely significant

I got the voidwaker a couple months ago soley for the guarantee damage. Been doing bandos and it's been a huge game changer. Now I don't even want it.
TLDR: I want to keep using my broken ass weapon and it’s worth having this thing roam rampant through wildy with bad pkers spamming double VW spec constantly so I can not have to miss 1 out of 5 specs on Nex and two TOA bosses 🙄

I think 3% for ancestral is way better than 4. Virtus had 0 place in the game with the first proposal...and it's very difficult to obtain full virtus on an ironman. It's brand new content not even a year old and the first proposal was going to make it dead content already. I like this new rebalance and support every single one of the changes. I LOVE THAT ETERNAL BOOTS ARE GETTING SOME LOVE

The solution to solving the dupe protection concern is to just get rid of all the mains 🤷♂
zero risk, all balance. This needed to happen to expand the reward space for future content.
This update is complete shit! Now you only get a benefit from doing 7 way switches with each combat which also increases the required gp for the full effect due to needing then full gear slots worth of gear and for many 7 way switches will be a nightmare for certain content in the game. Limiting the amount of potions and food you will be able to bring for the content you plan on if you are still wanting to maximize your dps and accuracy

Hey man, I'm going to beg to differ here but am curious about your thoughts. I was completely against this originally but the 6% loss on occult is getting transferred to shit you likely already have on a "midgame" account. 2% mystic might, and 3% from robes you already have, every magic offhand gives you 2%, not to mention boots or ring. This hardly qualifies as "fucked" to me. I can understand the argument for more switches being problematic where gear inv space is tight but that's only at specific content which is actually pretty well addressed. Now a concern with Pure builds is certainly to be brought back up but I am curious where you really see the issues now with this updated blog. I'm really glad to hear Jagex listen to player feedback across the board and am wondering where your concerns lie.
@@Skiian360 The biggest issue for me with the occult is that the dev team decided it was easier to fuck with mage damage on several sets of gear instead of make the occult more rare. Make it a thermi only drop at like 1/1000 and this solves their issue, the price will go up to reflect zenyte value (maybe not totally but close enough) and ironmen still have a 93slayer grind before its even plausible. Not necessarily for mains, but for mid game ironmen getting full sets and using them in content is that much more of a hassle vs using a mixed build like verac skirt and kharil top with more pots just to complete the kc. I appreciate the feedback!

@@thefatpakyak2826 I agree that a rebalance was needed, and yes it needed a nerf but it didn't have to be the stats themselves is what I'm getting at. The market is oversaturated with occults for mains and its hard to get for irons. When I got my occult on my main it was like 300k for bis mage neck in the game, I get that it needed nerfed but it wasn't the stats, the drop rate is far too common for what it was.
@@ThisisMYContinent Hey man, y'know that's a really good point that it seems like they are messing with a whole lot to address one seemingly simple item's "overpowered" state. Just to play devil's advocate I don't believe that changing an item's droprate to be MORE rare won't do anything to the item's current value as there are already too many in circulation, I do not know this for sure though.
I do see what you mean with not necessarily needing more gear for something like barrows which does not require magic accuracy and a 1 item switch giving you that extra firepower can be huge. However, I would argue in turn that most content that has enemies with negative magic defenses are flexible enough in the manner which they may be killed for it to not be devastating to their meta.
Personally just excited to see some magic damage discussed to be brought to players before they are able to attain an occult or zenytes. That mage cape ain't doin' shit! lol
Not sure if I COMPLETELY agree with them nerfing the necklace into the ground but I am glad to see it distributed to some upgrades attainable earlier in an account's progression.

simply put, i ddint need to work extra to get my occult, i just levels slayer like i would have otherwise and ended at occults level and got it ---- But the voidwaker i had to go 2 months out of my way to farm my vw on the iron.
There are still gonna be other gear to remplace the occult but no other voidwaker - it is a VERY VERY sad time, after 15 years that voidwaker/korasi, loses it's identity....
