I come here after trying to make steel for the first time. I seem to have gotten the ratios wrong. The furnace window started glowing white, then blue. As a student of astronomy, I know blue star are hotter than white stars, so i thought it prudent to put some distance between me and said furnace. The furnace then made some awful noises, and then tried to emulate the star i mentioned earlier and blew, not only my furnace, but the entire frame floor and the ground under it, away. A learning experience to be sure. The fireball was cool though.
I like your chill way of playing this game. I was having trouble with the furnace myself, the tutorial touches a little bit on it, and I know about the 2:1 ratio of volatiles to oxite, but how do you know how much to put in the furnace before it explodes and leaves a hole where your base used to be?
I look at the pressure, and usually I know that it's safe to put 6 volatiles and 3 oxites, then i add by gauging how far from doom and destruction am i by looking at the pressure gauge
This guide I am playing on all defaults (which is what I am assuming new players will play on), as opposed to realistic difficulty. The truth is if you are already playing on realistic difficulty you probably do not need my getting started guide ;-)
@@GrunfWorks I'm not plaing yet ;) Just curious, watchin videos. I'm thinking about digging small hole with airlock as simple as possible. What could be needed for that? 2 doors obviously.Probably some vents, not sure how many and gas sensor. What atmosphere is needed just not to die instanly? Will I survive on Mars if I open helmet for several seconds? In vacuum I would have about 15 seconds. It's more then enough to put food in the mouth but not sure how game handles that.

I was inside that fireball in my base.
@grunfworks I love this series mate. Brilliant to follow. I now finally understand how to build properly! Thx for making this
No probs. There are approx 20 episodes after this one just FYI
@@GrunfWorks Yeah mate thx for telling me, im watching them all right now, building with you step by step :)

Did you not finish the tutorial? It tells you about the pressure and releasing it.
Oh yes, dust storm. Apparently in this world it is able to blow away lander. It was one more failed attempt and additional restart on Mars.
Hey, when is the next episode coming out?
Hi,
I am hoping Monday, I have it recorded, just need to add audio
@@GrunfWorks can't wait to start the hydroponic farm
first time trying to use the furnace my whole base blew up lol but this video helped me alot
Glad it helped
Hi there. Thank you for making these videos. Did you mean to put Episode 3 in the title instead of Ep 2?
Thanks!
I did, corrected, thank you
@@GrunfWorks My pleasure! Thank you for your efforts in making these. They've been very helpful to me.
How are you able to drink water with your helmet closed? I am loving the videos - thank you! :)

New subscriber, following along with your build. thanks for the help!
Awesome, thank you!
How about realistic difficulty, that you can't eat and drink with closed helmet? Is it doable? Someone tried it?

I have not yet tried stationeer difficulty so I honestly would not know. I did see cowsareevil did it on Venus indoors so i think it would work.
