I would LOVE to see new trains with lap bars or even just put the soft restraints on this ride because the current restraints really dig into my shoulder. I dont think this would be an issue either since there are many intamins that do crazy stuff with lap bars including the cheetah hunt inspired "clone" over seas.
As a person who’s favorite coaster is a Vekoma Roller Skater because I’m stuck in the Philippines and the best ride here is a Vekoma Boomerang that I wasn’t able to ride because I’m too young and because of Covid, Cheetah Hunt is my most anticipated coaster with The Beast being 2nd because I see these 2 as the perfect gateway to coasters. Really excited to ride it if I can ever.
Amazing review!!! I always love it when someone reviews a roller coaster I have actually ridden- getting that notification is like getting that present you want on Christmas
This used to be my favorite roller coaster of all time. Of course that was before visiting Cedar Point and a bunch of other parks across the country. It could be my secon favorite ride in the park once Iron Gwazi opens but we'll see.
I don't consider it to be a family coaster. I think of it as a gateway coaster, bridging the gap between family coasters like cobra's curse and something like kumba
I can see what you're saying about the restraints. Since I'm not tall, they don't bother me, but I don't know why they haven't switched to the soft restraints, or just went with a lap bar. But Sea World parks seem to have a weird obsession with OTSR where they're not necessary, like on the Sky Rocket IIs. I wondered from the beginning if BGT was going to lobby to put OTSR on Iron Gwazi. They might have, but RMC probably talked them out of it. Not that it matters now, since that ride won't open until 2058.
I just rode this today. And my exact thought was that this is kind of a family coaster. Only real slight ejector was the from front row. Other than that I didn’t feel any real snappy elements. Barely any ejector airtime. The launch wasn’t forceful. I just felt this would be a ride I would take my pre teen on. It’s a low impact smooth coaster for everyone.
When I heard about this I heard Intamin multi launch inverted coaster. My first thought was a great thrill coaster for bgt. And then I heard family coasters I I was so confused.
Finally! Someone mentioned the restraints ruining the ride. I'm a taller girl and didn't think to hold the restraints up on my first ride (similar to what you did) and wow my shoulders were hurting for the rest of the day. If they added the soft straps this could definitely be #2 or #3 in the park. I still think this coaster is very overrated and I would much rather ride one of the B&Ms, but I can see the appeal of this to people who are on the shorter side and don't enjoy the intensity of Montu or Kuma
Forget soft straps; i think this ride could do with a lap bar alone. With a low max speed and just a single inversion, i really think an OTS is unnecessary
@@jmcbango I think the main point of the OTSR is to make guests feel more comfortable when going upside down. Since apparently going upside down with just a lap bar is unsafe
I live less than 5 miles from BG and have been on Cheetah Hunt well into the triple digits. I have a rather long torso but have never experienced pain from the restraints. I’m sorry for your issues with them. One thing I do on every coaster with over the shoulder restraints is raise my arms (hence lifting my shoulders) as if my intent is to get out of the way of the ride operators. When they move on, my arms lower and abracadabra, I have room.
I got a little bit of a better ride on this a few days ago I don’t remember getting airtime on that hill after the third launch but I did this time. I still love the second launch and heartline roll also but that hill surprised me
I agree with your assessment of the ride but disagree a little on the overall score. I'd give it an 8.5 because it is simply fun. But as a 6'4 275 lb'er, I have to agree the restraints are a nightmare. I realize that not everyone is our size but every coaster should have one row dedicated to bigger people.
"Immerse riders on their jungle adventure?" Well that's not good theming since cheetahs hunt on the savanna! Oh and btw, I did some research a while back and found Intamin changed it's website prior to Cheetah Hunt opening and removed the identifier Blitz from their LSM Launch Coaster model. So technically Cheetah Hunt isn't a blitz coaster. I think because it doesn't have that "attack" intensity of the previous two blitz coasters Intamin dropped it, (but rcdb continued to use it until recently.)
I gotta be honest when I did this I set my expectations *very low* , and when I did it I was very disappointed, very fun I can’t deny, but I would definitely love to be riding Montu instead
I don't know, this is one I've always wanted to go and try, but the overhead restraints are keeping me away. If you don't mind sharing, how tall are you? Since you say they bothered you, I'm curious if they're going to bother me more or less because I'm a tall guy.
@@XscreamThrills Okay, so it'd probably be just about as bad for me, I'm somewhere around 6'3" to 6'4" I can't quite remember it's been a while since I measured myself.
I think this ride is very overrated, and i find it funny how the park markets this ride as the highlight ride of the park. It’s cousin an hour and a half away is so much better, even Hagrids is better

Great video.. I enjoyed my one ride back in 2015 can't wait to get back

Coastoons #1
This ride is definitely a family coaster, a big and slightly more intense family coaster, but still a family coaster
It’s that much of a Family Coaster, it’s more of a thrill ride without inversions.
I wouldn't say it would have the best theming in all the seaworld chain, almost all of the atlantis' and manta's have decent theming
My score is 8. I prefer both Montu and Kumba to it
Only people actually from Tampa see Cheetah Hunt as a family coaster

How is this a family coaster if it uses the old intamin equivalent of the new double spine track
