Thank you so much for this video! Being a complete Newbee, I very much appreciated the SLOW pace of your explanations. Your video got me "pointed in the right direction" to be able to RECORD MY INSTRUMENT and MUSIC, instead of fooling around with reams of virtual instruments and loops! Initially, I started watching the official Cubase videos on UA-cam. After hours, I was no further ahead! If only I'd watched this video instead! Thanks again!
Devices turned to STUDIO so viewers will have to select that and scroll to Studio Setup. Mine was the last option in the drop down. GREAT HELP. Thanks.
Not the same menu with my version of Cubase LE 9.5 obtained with my ALLEN & HEATH ZEDi10FX console that I still don't know how to connect! Nothing in this video works like on my version. Cubase: why do it only complicated when you can do it very complicated and very confused?
Hi Boone Boone. You must be pretty good at this by now :-) I'm following the steps he shows in this video, with a microphone connected to my mono input channel. In the mixer console, I see that sound from the mic comes in to the mixer. But when I add an audio track that inputs from the mono bus, I get no sound onto the track. Any idea what can be wrong? My mono input is not muted.
I like Cubase but I stopped using it because configuring my audio interface was a nightmare. Too bad it’s not super easy to configure like other daws. Anyone have any tips? I have a um12 and Cubase ai 10
Greg, I learned SEVERAL new things here in this video..great as always. Sadly, I wish I had discovered so many of these functions when I started with Cubase SX 2. I see it as 13 years of practice 😉 I look forward to this level video as I finally get more time to sit and record more and more. Tapemachine is new to me. Thanks again for such terrific and more frequent presentations Just added Absolute 3.... will you be doing any entry level instruction on some of those modules?
Hey, Greg. Thanks for this video; I learned a lot in just a short time. I'm coming over to Cubase after 15 years in Sonar. Can I ask you a question about metering? Is there a way to switch the track meter to record input meter without turning on the monitor button? I monitor my audio signal at my hardware mixer (an SSL X-Desk) for zero latency. Obviously, turning on the monitoring on the track will double what I hear (out of phase), since I am routing the DAW return through the X-Desk also, so I want to keep track monitoring in Cubase off. In Sonar, the track meter automatically changes from playback meter to record meter (the latter being basically what Cubase calls the input bus level, I think) when you arm the track for recording, regardless of the track monitor button. So, is there an equivalent way to do this in Cubase--monitor the recording level at the track itself without having to look at the Input Channel meter in the MixConsole?
Bro thank you your methods gives more understanding than the Cubase Steinberg tutorials, very nice may God bless you, After recording track how do I hear it on a computer ? should we changed the format to listen? that's where I am stuck now ohhhhh
Your condenser microphone requires phantom power [48 volts DC] This will be an interface issue and not a Cubase issue.Your interface should have a phantom power supply on board with a button to turn it on and off.
Hi greg, I have followed this steps. I have added a audio track of music to record my bass against.... but it records the music track as well as my bass track .....(the music is in the background of the bass recording.)
Hi, please let me know, why midi loops hangs/ crash dumps, while previewing. My laptop burnt and using a 4gb ram Lenovo E49 laptop with windows 10 home. The only option is to restart the pc again and again to preview the loops again in cubase 10.5 elements
Hi, everything seems to be connected properly and when I play my guitar going through my stomp box it is picked up and the scale does move when I strum, it seems to record but when I press play after I have stopped recording, i do not hear what I just played, any suggestions?, thx in advance, Dean
Hi Greg , basic audio recording seems straightforward. I see that in addition to the bass recording it has also recorded the click track? How do you record without it recording the click and also how do you record a second and subsequent ( say piano, guitar, strings etc ) track without the bass audio also recording? Thanks
WTF...3 months I've had this Cubase 10.....still can't figure out how to put together a simple working track...I have no idea how to apply FX to guitars....I have yet to find a video that shows how to REALLY get started! I just happened to run into a recording artist with this same issue...he said he simply gave up on this program. I'm thoroughly frustrated with this! I've recorded before, mixed on physical consoles, this is a new medium for me....this is ridiculous! Anybody on this earth know where I can watch a video actually showing how to record into the mixing phase from the point of first starting the program???? Everything I find begins after that phase! Assuming one would already know....perhaps I'm the only one who doesn't know, whatever.....still need to learn and I'm sick of trying to figure it out on my own! Not sure if I'm ….don't know WTF I'm doing....anyone?

This is done with the Cubase LE version which comes bundled with many audio interfaces but it is the same for more advanced versions as well. I am not sure where you live but you could check pricing from your dealer or the Steinberg online shop.
Thanks Greg. I've upgraded from an old cubase platform and in Cubse 9.5 I can not for the life of me unlock tracks recorded in SX2. Please tell me you know why. Thank you
It would be great if you could elaborate on the Direct Monitoring feature. I'm using a RME Babyface Pro. It's a bit of a mine field. I've set it up so that I have to leave Cubase and go into RME Mix FX and monitor from there. Very confusing. : (
Hi, not all interfaces have direct monitoring only the Steinberg/Yamaha interfaces definitely have this functionality but it could be that your Baby Face doesn't and you have to use the RME Mix as you have already been doing it.
This is a great video. I am having problems my signal is M-Audio 2x2 into a Mac running Mojave 10.14. Cubase is not picking up the signal. There’s no change in the wave line. It stays flat as it records and there’s no sound. Thank you :-)
There are some sampled and synthetic guitar sounds in HalionSonic SE that you can trigger with a midi keyboard, and if you want a produced guitar pattern you might find one that works for you in a Rock-Pop toolbox bundle in the media bay. If you find something you like save the Toolbox project as your own so you don't overwrite it in the factory content library..Don't ask me how I know this.
Thanks, for the video! So, I have a Yamaha MG16XU, but when I select the VST audio system (Yamaha Steinberg USB Asio) it only shows two physical ports (Line 1, Line 2) instead of the 16 that should appear. Do you know what I can do to solve that problem?
Greg, my cubase receive the sign from the input , i can hear my guitar when I play it too, but when I click to the "record" , it starts to record but no sign appears on the line. I do not know what could be the problem, could you help me? Lookin forward to your answer, and thank you!
