Hey Phil and Karen, I suggest you go to Harbour freight and you buy those fake looking cameras, and mount one on each stand and put a sign up that says smile for the camera. It will make people honest in a big hurry because they have no idea if they’re being recorded or not I have done that on my stand and theft has gone down to pretty much zero.. Sadly somebody cautioned you on the dishonesty factor. We don’t have a huge problem here anymore. Hey uncle Phil tell me if this sounds like a true story. True story, one time my father rolled in the driveway just as somebody peaked out. He checked the money jar cause he thought it was weird how they left.. they hadn’t left any money. So he tore off after them. He went to the camp ground a mile away, asked the owner if said vehicle came in in the past 2 minutes. He said “yes”. Then Daddy said what happened the owner told his which lot they were in and opened the gate. Daddy confronted them, and repossessed the firewood. Lots of words were spoken, they said they would never get wood from us again, or stay at this campground again. The owner and Daddy said almost at the same time “thank you.” They packed up and left the next morning.
Yup that sound about like ya dad lol i think it was ya dad that went with me back when i had my garden ctr to repo 10 yds of bark mulch that they had started to spread in the flower beds an we raked an shoveled every bit of it up lol ahhh the good ole days

The wife wanted a saw so we got the ego and I was really surprised when she started to run it. It comes with Oregon chain and bar. Might be lighter than the echo. I’m not sure if chaps would stop it if a mishap. Because the electric saws have a lot of torque in them. She loves her saw and likes to cut tree limbs and Buck up what see can. It doesn’t care what wood it just cuts.
I understand your discouragement in people. I have a stand and it seems amazing how people don’t respect your time and energy to provide a product and service. If they knew what is involved they would pay you more than your asking price. Since I’ve had a problem with some theft I don’t leave mind out overnight because that was when the majority of the stealing occurred. That would be a lot of work in your situation. Well plan B for the stands now solar lights an a fake camera to start . Well after she spends a few hrs behind that saw i might upgrade her to my old climbing saw we will see how it goes first . Being a trapper i have a plan in place for the next person that comes to steal something in side my building . I promise that will be quite the video if it happens

I think a messy truck is the sign of a hard working man lol. I’m sure you’ll find that Jonsored somewhere unless maybe you left it on a tailgate. It’s a sinking feeling when people steal the wood! It’s a lot of work and I hate it when it happens. I have found that my loose stacks get stolen less.

Im perdy sure someone walked off with the jonsered its no ware to be found just odd they didnt take them both . Sure was a kick in the pants counting the $ an seeing how short it was but i dont give up that easy theres always a solution to every problem we just have to figure it out now
@@AllenFamilyFirewood may have to bump the prices to $7 or 3/$20 to help cover the thefts. It’s unfortunate that the honest have to help cover the cost of theft but you need to be fairly compensated.

There is always one in every crowd , up here in Maine we have a special way of dealing with thieves now i just gota catch em an that will make for great video when that happens
good video and job the battery chain saw a heavy and they don't last long mine takes 8 batteries to cut a cord of smaller fire wood. nobody down here has fire wood stands they would steal all the wood and cash box. they don't have drink machines out side any more they were tearing them up to get drinks and the money out. one black kid turned one over on him and was killed family sued and got a lot of money out of coke it's crazy. i wish you luck take care, be safe and well.

I dumped my gas saws a few years ago. So nice not to store/carry around mixed gas any more. Always start. Instant torque. For a hobbyist, they're great.

We are thinking more in the lines of talking to all the local camp ground owners for next yr to sell them pallet loads of wood all bundled up with there labels on them

Hello Phil 30:59 It’s a shame that even for a few dollars there are people that have to take advantage of a fire wood stand and the convenience of having fire wood available 24 hours a day. Hopefully things get better in the future. By the way is there any chance you could have left the chain saw where you were cutting the rounds at the site where the trees were being taken down. Thanks don o i only cut at my wood yard the tree companies do all the cutting at the job sites that i go to to get the wood . Ive looked every ware for that saw i think its safe to say someone else wanted it more than me an walked away with it so now all the saws stay in my truck . Hopefully the wood stands will turn around and next time will be better .
Ya just hard to rig up a real camera at ea stand and even then are the cops really going to do any thing about someone taking a few extra bundles of wood

Good idea on the tax deduction . Most of the people buying the camp wood are weekend people staying at the campgrounds near by so i sure would be surprised to see that but we can always hope .

If you made a top of sheet metal that was large enough to have 1 1/2'' overhang for the entire perimeter of the cash box and slightly bend the overhang like 5 degrees then use some silicone to attach to the top of the cash box. keeping in mind of the opening side, this side might not need the bend for clearance of opening. Other material like a cheep flexible cutting board or just a piece of a pine board. I would think it would be a quick fix for the cash wet issue.

Taking the stands in at night is a great idea but they are not at our home we have them at a few different locations

Some grid in the boxes bottom will prevent the money from getting wet - but it will dry and normally will not get moldy. So can also be wet.

Hello Phil 30:59 It’s a shame that even for a few dollars there are people that have to take advantage of a fire wood stand and the convenience of having fire wood available 24 hours a day. Hopefully things get better in the future. By the way is there any chance you could have left the chain saw where you were cutting the rounds at the site where the trees were being taken down. Thanks don o i only cut at my wood yard the tree companies do all the cutting at the job sites that i go to to get the wood . Ive looked every ware for that saw i think its safe to say someone else wanted it more than me an walked away with it so now all the saws stay in my truck . Hopefully the wood stands will turn around and next time will be better .

Ya just hard to rig up a real camera at ea stand and even then are the cops really going to do any thing about someone taking a few extra bundles of wood
Be sure to add the theft to your expense ledger..Take a tax deduction for sure... lets hope they did not have change and will return later and leave more than they take..
Good idea on the tax deduction . Most of the people buying the camp wood are weekend people staying at the campgrounds near by so i sure would be surprised to see that but we can always hope .

If you made a top of sheet metal that was large enough to have 1 1/2'' overhang for the entire perimeter of the cash box and slightly bend the overhang like 5 degrees then use some silicone to attach to the top of the cash box. keeping in mind of the opening side, this side might not need the bend for clearance of opening. Other material like a cheep flexible cutting board or just a piece of a pine board. I would think it would be a quick fix for the cash wet issue.
