This is a longplay of Castlevania: Dracula X, a platform game developed and published by Konami for Super Nintendo and based on Akumajou Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (or Rondo of Blood, in english), which was previously released for PC Engine in 1993 (never released outside of Japan until 2007 was released Castlevania remake: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP).
The game tells the story of Richter Belmont, another descendant of the Belmont family in their eternal struggle against Dracula. This game takes place in medieval Transylvania, the year 1792, one hundred years after Simon Belmont destroyed Dracula. As the evil had disappeared, no one remembered the creatures of darkness. Priest Shaft, taking advantage of the forgetfulness of innocent people, brought Count Dracula back to life through demonic rituals. Watching Richter Belmont, Dracula captures Annette and Maria. Richter goes to the rescue of the women and also needs to use the powerful Vampire Killer whip to destroy Dracula once again.
The game is action and platform. In this game, Richter can use the whip and also secondary weapons (knife, axe, cross, holy water and clock) using hearts, in addition to being able to use extremely powerful attacks from these secondary weapons. The game has several alternate paths and three endings: a sad, a medium and the best ending (rescuing Annettte and Maria, being also the most difficult ending to obtain).
It is the last game of the Castlevania series to be released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It shares the gameplay and plot of Chi no Rondo, but the levels of the game have been completely redesigned and certain elements were completely excluded from it because of some limitations of the SNES, but is a great game of Castlevania series. The game has great graphics and a spectacular soundtrack, and even though it's relatively inferior to the PC Engine's Rondo of Blood, this SNES version is surprising and completely different. It's certainly worth playing both versions to understand the story and venture out on different paths between them.
The video was recorded in three playthroughs, each with a different ending (worst, medium, and best).

Despite the 32-bit look, yes, it's on the SNES. In fact, from 1995 onwards, there were many games with graphics comparable to the next generation.

Great graphics and sound, but it's a very hard game! Love it!

16:32 - 16:46 the enemy non-interaction with the player ignoring their presence as passively as possible birthed it's own skeleton side story arc! The skeleton was awed at the quick footwork before forgetting bones tread over mud best when dry but never once wet! It brought a tear to my eye.

My all time favorite Castlevania was II, I was disappointed with every one after till Symphony of the Night...that set a new standard and it was about time....

For best ending: Dont fall down in Stage 3 and get Key just before Boss. In Stage 4 open 2 door to save Maria and advance to Stage 5' (this is where Annet is, instead of Stage 5). Save Annet and kill Dracula for the millionst times.
But i think most wouldnt know about the Key and assume once they beat Dracula they would automatically save Maria and Annet only to realize, they failed terribly.
Is there also another Ending where you save Annet but not Maria?
This is the first Castlevania we have in my family and all this time is our favorite Castlevania ~

I think I'd still give Super Castlevania IV the soundtrack win over Dracula X, but dammit, why was Konami so good at clear, crisp, multi-instrumental SNES music, and many others were just getting by? Both SNES titles have music that rivals the PC Engine CD C:RoB

I dont get the hates for this game , yeah the pc engine Rondo of Blood is great but this is way more challenging, the dracula fight in the end is just a HUGE troll moment
Beside Dracula I think the biggest issue with the game is the invincibility after a hit being too short. Other than that it's not really more difficult than any other classic Castlevania game.

@31:40, a flaw in the gameplay mechanics allows you to walk THRU those axelord armours for a split second after hitting them while they glow....

That map music is hard to beat by any game
Rondo of Blood and Super Castlevania are still my favorites. This one, unfortunately, is my least favorite of the era. Other than the great backgrounds, nothing else is noticeable. Playing this game, and then going back to the aforementioned, gives you great insight into how much stage design and controls really make or break a game.
edit: I will give the game props for good renditions of the Rondo tracks.
It's unfair at some parts. The music is near CD quality though.

There are certain elements that are superior to the PC Engine Rondo. The opening stage background on SNES is simply stunning, while most of the backgrounds on the PC Engine game are flat, largely static and color starved.
The PC Engine game is one of the best in the series, but I also think that this release has its merits.
Wise words. I really like Rondo of Blood, as I like this Dracula X a lot. Both versions are excellent.
