I used to have an X300 back in the day. I was trying to find info/reviews on youtube and seems it was around before pc reviews were a thing. There is next to no info about them. It was a beast of a machine for it's time. Your right about the sound. I've not invested into anything that has sounded as good since. But it wasn't perfect. As a gamer you end up using WASD a lot and on laptops and your wrist/forearm would rest on the bottom left speaker a bit. The sound from that one would often be muffled. My red paint actually wore off on it. It ran hot as hell. Before me and my wife got married we were renting a place and the heat wasn't working for a small portion of the winter. I remember sitting this thing in my lap and it keeping me warm. It's crazy hot. And it was the eventual death of it. I did run it until it's metaphorical wheels fell off. I had it on a table that had small holes to help with airflow and 2 industrial fans hitting it and me lol. After it got so bad that strategy no longer worked I gave it to a friend. I think he re-pasted it and got another 2-3 years out of it.
finally ordered mine, well, x305 technically. untested tho. the SLI graphics and sound system make it worth fixing if it is broken. my specs are different, 9800m sli and i think p8400
A great laptop with subpar cooling but a nice unique package despite the rather okay specs. It is definitely one of the Qosmios I need to add to the Qosmio Qollection but they're being scalped over $200 on ebay. I ain't paying more than $100 for one, even with a recovery partition.
I have the same laptop now. I upgraded the CPU to an Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q9000
