Alice Munro is the most favourite writer of mine. I can't stop thinking about her writing, the only reason I started reading fictions all over again, or perhaps books all over again, is her short stories. They are deceptively simple, and yet, often enormously brilliant. The best thing about her writing is that she doesn't try to put humans and reality into boxes, and its always about what the characters are doing and not what as a writer what she thinks about them or the world. Her short stories have definitely made me a more grateful person, all while nowhere asking her readers to take a certain stance, subscribe to a certain worldview to face life, that's what I call finding magic within the mundane. I can go on talking about her stories like a crazy fanboy, but I'll stop just here with two short story recommendations written by Alice Munro of course.. The found boat. Hateship, loveship, courtship, marriage.
Vaani and Chaaru, you both are doing a great job by highlighting the hidden gems. I, and probably most of us, never heard about Alice before you mentioned. I will definitely read her. And thank you both for what you are doing 🙏
