Mark wrote this song. I love how he sings it in the beginning. It sounds like he’s chatting with Mary as if they are meeting for coffee. ☕️ He is also a Christian comedian.
Mark Lowry was part of the gaither vocal band for over 20 years as their baritone singer. He is also my favorite baritone singer 😊❤ he wrote the lyric to this song and he is also a christian comedian 😊
Thank you so much for reacting to this! It was the first cover I ever watched of Voctave and knowing Mark wrote the song just hit me so emotionally and I cried. This arrangement along with the voices of Voctabe and add Mark? Just wow ❤ Oh! and Mark used to sing with David Phelps in the Gaither Vocal Band.
An interesting fact about Voctave, most of them met while working for Disney, singing in Epcot as part of Voices of Liberty, their a cappella group. Not sure if you’ve heard it yet or not, but Voctave’s version of O Holy Night is absolutely beautiful. Showcases Tiffany Coburn’s soprano voice. Then again, everything Voctave does is beautiful. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
While I am an avid Home Fry, this is my favorite version of this song by leaps and bounds. Mark's conversational-style singing emotes the words very effectively. He FEELS the words. This is a stunning piece.
It's ethereal and truly the definitive version of this song. Mark was the lyricist for this song. What he wanted to do was just ask Mary if she knew all things that would come with her baby boy. Mark needed the stool as he has MS. It's hard to believe he belt those lines so long and beautifully.
Mark Lowry has performed with The Gaither's for years. You might take a look at his channel, he is not only a gifted singer/ songwriter he is hilariously funny. He also has a podcast on Mondays I think. No one can sing a song like the writer.
Now, at age 65, Mark goes on Facebook & You Tube with his program called "Just Whenever", whenever he feels like it. He has guests on at times, sings, shares, answers questions, etc. He was with the Gaither Vocal Band for many years, shares about them and concerts. He still has his sense of humor. Mark wrote the lyrics to Mary Did You Know in 1984 for a Christmas program. In 1991 Buddy Greene, also with the Gaither Vocal Band, created the music in 30 minutes. Michael English was the 1st to record it because at that time Mark thought it was too high for him to sing.
Technically this isn’t a cover because Mark wrote the song so this is just a version of his own song. I would say this is the best version of this song and PTX does the best cover of it.

"This guy" :) that made me smile. Love when people don't know who Mark Lowry is or why Voctave are backing him singing this particular song :)

Mark's faith, conviction and joy make this version so special. Like others said, he has a special connection to the lyrics, since he wrote them.

I agree but technically it’s not a cover, because Mark is the original artist so it’s just a version of him singing it but with Voctave.

Mark Lowry is an awesome singer. He's the one who actually wrote the song. He's also a Christian Comedian.
And VERY VERY funny!!!
@@Pilot545 Oh yes fall out of a chair laughing funny!
@@Denalicat Yes! And a lot of people don’t realize how funny David Phelps can be, too!
My favorite version of one of my favorite songs!! Mark brings a different interpretation to the song with his understanding!!

The point you brought up was exactly what Mark said about writing the song. He imagined what it would be like to interview Mary! 🎶🎶👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤😊😊
"That guy" (Mark Lowry) WROTE this song. Who could do a better rendition.
Incredible songwriting, incredible solo, incredible Voctave! Just INCREDIBLE!
Mark Lowry wrote the lyrics. His friend Buddy Green the music.
That was beautiful. Mark has a beautiful voice. There is something about a mature voice that always has an extra appeal to me.

Mark who wrote the song held that note sitting down because he has MS - it just makes it even more awesome knowing this. Divine track x
I like the fact that you pronounced their name correctly from the get-go. So very few do.
So I don't know which is my favorite cover of this song--this one by Voctave or the one by Pentatonix. They are both stellar.

Mark wrote the lyrics.
You should check out the version by Pentatonix as well.
Home Free's version is very different but excellent too.

It's not really a cover since Mark is the author. Nobody sings this song like Mark.
