There’s zero reason to syphon this way unless as mentioned clickbait thumbnail is the goal. Submerge tube, cap other end with thumb, lower hose and release. Gravity prevails. I tried the suction method drawing diesel gasoline many years ago with predictable results.
Hi George, in response to your question I've been watching for about a year or so, and I don't have a favorite type of video of yours I like the variety. I like your slower paced conversations because a lot of channels edit things to be fast paced.
George this tank is so inspiring!! My son was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes but watching your videos have really helped relieve my anxiety. I hope to get my own tank up and running in the next couple of months! This really is a work of art!!
Because of the several reviews and changes of your scape, you've got me to think about my scape. Now I started to take more care and added again 3 4 cryps and soon in the next months I will change the lights.
Hey George, you are right about aquascaping being good for the soul. I picked up your book last year, and finally got around to building my first aquascape two months ago, and it has become my sanctuary. It’s really helped my mental health to unwind, and enjoy the lush green of my tank, and my nine red cherry shrimp and two snails, but your book is amazing and I owe all my success to you for that, so thank you.
Of all the aquascaped tanks on UA-cam yours is the one I would love to have in my home! Absolutely beautiful. I too enjoy doing maintenance on my planted tank. Every Sunday... And I look forward to it, I find it very relaxing.
My jaw dropped when you said that scape has been set up for four years, it does not feel that long! I stumbled across your channel five years ago, having been a fishkeeper for decades but believing I had a "black thumb" for plants. Now I have nine gorgeous scapes and you were no small part of my journey from fishkeeping into aquascaping.
I’ve been subscribed to you since I first discovered aquascaping about 5 ish years ago when I saw a green aqua video and it suggested your channel! Been in love with scaping ever since! Thanks for always teaching and encouraging this hobby to us all! You are vital to this hobby! Keep on scaping mate 😉
Four years, I guess I lose track of time, it doesn't seem like that much time has passed since you set it up. Yes, another video of the synchronicity between the tank and the keeper of the tank. Looking forward to that. 👍❤️👍
Очень приятное видео. Надо заднее стекло закрыть растениями и будет ещё лучше. Hi, my dear friend George. I wish you all the best and new creative success.
Love your scapes George always a wonderful aquatic garden to look at. I find when syphoning water ive had a few mishaps of swallowing some, yup hazards of fishkeeping. Love it lol
Been a subscriber for over 5 years now, just enjoying see and learning about different plants growth, I have introduce them in for my own tank/tanks and which fish suit that scape you went to MD home for that visit I then subscribe to him and your visit a few years ago to see Takashi Amano master piece I still go back and watch from time to time.
I’ve loved watching this progress in the long term. It’s always improving, and looks super mature and lush now. I particularly love the added small details from the detailing roots and finer textured foreground plants 🌱 love it mate 👏 🤗
Hi George, great video your tank is looking beautiful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, I started aquascaping in 2023 and learned a lot from your book, podcast and yt channel. I attribute my success to you and others who also share their stories with the public. Fantastic hobby and lifestyle!
Not sure if there is a way of finding out how long ive been subscribed but im sure its arounf 5/6 years. Ive even watched some early videos from when you first kept discus and your step children helped out if my memory serves me right.
I’m finally winning my BBA battle, just the odd bit here and there. My re-scape was done back in May of this year , all low tech plants including lots of Epiphytes including a lovely Anubias hetrophylla which has become a beautiful focal point in the rear left of the aquarium, I’m running the Twinstar lights at 60% , and lighting duration at 6 1/2 hours , this seems to be the sweet spot for this setup as the pearling is beautiful to watch in the evenings, inspiring and informative video as usual Mr Farmer , I wish you and all your family a peaceful Xmas 🎄.
Just a science word but the pale parts showing the base of that leaf are called stipules. That is a beautiful aquascape George! Subbed for like 5 years now.
Hi, In addition to your technical knowledge and your outstanding talent for aesthetics, which you demonstrate again and again in your "works", I also like the content that makes you think. Thoughts that go through your head and you share with us or just videos with beautiful aquascapes (with fish!) and calming background music. Exactly those posts that you have brought in the last few months. P.S.: I don't like the interviews with other aquarists as they are often "long-winded" (too much conversation, too less footage) 😁
Hey George , Really happy to see what you have been doing with the main display, love the branch detail from WIO . I am hopeful that Yago will expand into the US someday ? Another idea I had , might be something that you could consider for the OASE aluminum lid is to have 4 round 2" - 2.5" holes drilled on the very soft material and then find someone who has a 3D printer then your lid will be very cool especially when you attach the waterproof vent covers / grills . That are the 3D letters O A S E
This scape is looking really good mate! It’s my second favorite of all your scapes! Your old aquascaper 1200’s last scape that was in it takes #1 for me! Very close though! I was going to add crypt balansae to the corners of my 9 gallon fluval flex scape but there’s not much light there! So you think it would be ok? Hope all is well mate!
This is really spectacular aquarium, I absolutely love it and currently trying to achieve something like this for my 450l one. Building hardscape atm. One question if I can, specialised nutrition is fert without potassium if I remember correctly. If I'm right, why no potassium, any special reason?
4 years? That's awesome! I've said it before, this is my favorite take of all time. It's just so calming and beautiful. Are your Twinstars running at 100%?
Regarding the eriocaulon, when I kept frogbit with my black neons, the roots would be chewed back like the eriocaulon in your aquarium. The roots never got more than 1-2cm.
Hey George, I saw that you don't stop the filter when you start removing some of the plants, you mention that the residue/waste would be added to the water column. Is there any beneficial impact to the eco system if for example, do the water change without letting that waste in to the filter or at least in a minor way? Thanks
I have always wondered if you can put "normal" led's under a hood. Do you happen to know why Twinstar doesn't recommend it? Thanks in advance! Great video!
Hey George, tank still looks great. Thank you for the video. Would you mind sharing if you made any changes to the livestock? There is a goby in there that wasn’t there before I think? Curious to know what you are keeping in the tank currently. Cheers!
Great videos mate, really good advice ref how to properly remove the old sword leaves, I assume this is the same for removal of balansae? Look like I’ll be getting in my tank this evening to remove all the half stalks!
Lighting is such a complicated topic. Making a light to replicate sun light and making one to give great color rendition to the human eye are opposite goals so it is tough to do both well. I look forward to see what kind of metrics you can come up with.
My hope is that OASE can make a light that matches the quality of their Highline series! I myself have an OASE Highline 300 liter aquarium, but miss something similar to Chihiro's WRGB 2 Pro. Please OASE!
Yeah, lights to the lided aquariums... that is really tuff question to answer :/ My Ozelot also does not grow so talll, which is bit bummer, ,i might need to regroup and think about some other plant :D
I expect he is just spraying with water so they don't dry out while waiting to refill the tank. Some more fragile plants are particularly susceptible and tip into no return quickly.
lol you need to get your self some cheap little valves for your water change tubing lol i just keep water in the tubing when im done so it will always siphon automatically the next time 'round, no mouth necessary haha
Letting some plants grow to the surface naturally, I found that the fish in my case Rainbows, spawn and they don't seem to show any interest in eating the newly hatched fish. Despite the other species that do eat them,I get a few youngins to survive.
How do you handle algae ? All plants in my tank are covered with black hair algae on every leave, and I have tried everything to reduce and remove it including reducing light, reducing fish food feed, changing water, none of it worked. For thick big leaves like Anubis, I tried to remove by hand, yet, the black hair algae very much like human hair, it grows from the leaves, and it doesn’t just stay on the surface. For small thin leaves, there is no way to remove it piece by piece. Your tank looks clean with no algae. For my tank, after a few months, black hair algae covers all the plants, and it seems no way to remove it.
Muito lindo seus aquário vejo seus vídeos sempre gostaria de uma favo seu estou planejando uma tampa para o meu aquário plantado e a tampa do seu aquário me expirou teria como me passar uns detalhes dessa do aquário

thats an unfortunate thumbnail :D
I clicked on it specifically to point out that fact 😂
Fun part is, there’s several easy ways to change a thumbnail

I'm here for the thumbnail. Epic!
I am watching your channel about 5 years so far... Love it......

Just the hardscape for 4 years. The plants have changed a few iterations since 😊
Your video is very very informative and soulful at the same time🙏
Thx George you are helping me there there and there

i wonder what did you spray the plants with when you were doing water changes , was that Hydrogen Peroxide ?
I expect he is just spraying with water so they don't dry out while waiting to refill the tank. Some more fragile plants are particularly susceptible and tip into no return quickly.
