There’s zero reason to syphon this way unless as mentioned clickbait thumbnail is the goal.
Submerge tube, cap other end with thumb, lower hose and release. Gravity prevails.
I tried the suction method drawing diesel gasoline many years ago with predictable results.

Hey George, you are right about aquascaping being good for the soul. I picked up your book last year, and finally got around to building my first aquascape two months ago, and it has become my sanctuary. It’s really helped my mental health to unwind, and enjoy the lush green of my tank, and my nine red cherry shrimp and two snails, but your book is amazing and I owe all my success to you for that, so thank you.

My jaw dropped when you said that scape has been set up for four years, it does not feel that long! I stumbled across your channel five years ago, having been a fishkeeper for decades but believing I had a "black thumb" for plants. Now I have nine gorgeous scapes and you were no small part of my journey from fishkeeping into aquascaping.

I’m finally winning my BBA battle, just the odd bit here and there. My re-scape was done back in May of this year , all low tech plants including lots of Epiphytes including a lovely Anubias hetrophylla which has become a beautiful focal point in the rear left of the aquarium, I’m running the Twinstar lights at 60% , and lighting duration at 6 1/2 hours , this seems to be the sweet spot for this setup as the pearling is beautiful to watch in the evenings, inspiring and informative video as usual Mr Farmer , I wish you and all your family a peaceful Xmas 🎄.

    Hi,
In addition to your technical knowledge and your outstanding talent for aesthetics, which you demonstrate again and again in your "works", I also like the content that makes you think. Thoughts that go through your head and you share with us or just videos with beautiful aquascapes (with fish!) and calming background music. Exactly those posts that you have brought in the last few months.
P.S.: I don't like the interviews with other aquarists as they are often "long-winded" (too much conversation, too less footage) 😁

Hey George , Really happy to see what you have been doing with the main display, love the branch detail from WIO . I am hopeful that Yago will expand into the US someday ? Another idea I had , might be something that you could consider for the OASE aluminum lid is to have 4 round 2" - 2.5" holes drilled on the very soft material and then find someone who has a 3D printer then your lid will be very cool especially when you attach the waterproof vent covers / grills .
    That are the 3D letters

This scape is looking really good mate! It’s my second favorite of all your scapes! Your old aquascaper 1200’s last scape that was in it takes #1 for me! Very close though! I was going to add crypt balansae to the corners of my 9 gallon fluval flex scape but there’s not much light there! So you think it would be ok? Hope all is well mate!

Hey George, I saw that you don't stop the filter when you start removing some of the plants, you mention that the residue/waste would be added to the water column. Is there any beneficial impact to the eco system if for example, do the water change without letting that waste in to the filter or at least in a minor way? Thanks

How do you handle algae ? All plants in my tank are covered with black hair algae on every leave, and I have tried everything to reduce and remove it including reducing light, reducing fish food feed, changing water, none of it worked. For thick big leaves like Anubis, I tried to remove by hand, yet, the black hair algae very much like human hair, it grows from the leaves, and it doesn’t just stay on the surface. For small thin leaves, there is no way to remove it piece by piece. Your tank looks clean with no algae. For my tank, after a few months, black hair algae covers all the plants, and it seems no way to remove it.
