Ota's route is him realizing that he can't keep putting his selfish desires over other people's happiness. The review bomber did not want to be taught that lesson it seems.
Ironic, considering there's a character _in_ the game who actually did something like that. Sockpuppeting accounts to impress an idol, by "defending her" from her "critic".
I wish, however it's not big enough to make a big deal, to the point that Internet Historian would make a video out of. Unless he'll group out other games that got review bombed by fans and fakers
I mentioned in a few replies to other comments too, but I'm friends with some people who know the guy personally. This vid barely scratched the surface of his whole deal. 1. He didn't even play the game. There was a prerelease ARG he was following, and he got mad and decided not to buy the game after some bad stuff happened to A-set in the ARG. All his info about the game came secondhand after he'd already decided he was going to hate it. 2. He has an alt Twitter where he roleplays as A-set's husband. Sometimes it's hard to tell if his tweets are entirely in character or if he's actually treating her like a real person. 3. He has a weird preoccupation with pedophilia and has made baseless accusations towards people in the AI discord server. 4. He _might_ be review bombing the game a second time. Well, someone is, and they claim to be a different person, but there's a lot of suspicious things about the new bomber's behavior and accounts. I genuinely believe the dude is mentally ill and needs help. And while I hate kicking someone while he's down, my sympathy for him is rapidly fading based on his probable involvement in the new review bomb + shit my friends have told me.
I do hope for the best then. Even if I don't have empathy for this guy, if what you say is true (and I believe you), then I sincerely hope he gets the help he needs.
goodness fucking gracious that is creepy.. that's like some Silence of the Lambs shit.. this guy seriously needs to be hospitalized before he hurts someone, i'm not even joking people who are that mentally unstable can literally snap at any time and sometimes when they do people start coming up missing, this is a really scary situation actually, you need to tell your friends to be careful around him.
@@Naixatloz What? That's like supporting a man with a broken leg continuing to walk around with an unset bone and massively bruised muscle tissue, and claiming that anyone telling him he needs to go to the hospital is "ableist." Last thing we need after that genius Regan abolished federal mental health care is clowns like you telling everyone that mentally ill people don't need to be treated. We have enough of that stigma in this country already.
I'm reminded of those murder mystery shows where the killer goes through the entire episode acting just as shocked as everyone else about the murders but one they're found to be the murderer, they drop all pretense and just go on one huge motive rant not even trying to deny they did it.
Its because he doesn't think with his brain, but with his liver. He complains about being singled out as a target in the community, yet hypocritically does the same to the dev. He says he cares about the game, but tries to destroy its reputation. He insinuated he was doing a social experiment for the greater good of Metacritic yet is exposed acting for personal reasons. Nothing he does has any coherence, he probably needs psychological help.
So, basically, this guy pulled off a digital version of Stephen King's "Misery" on this game. And, in the end, it was rectified. However, that being said, maybe Metacritic needs some sort of verify system? Feels like it could use some extra security.
There's a scene in AI where Ota is caught using 3 troll Twitter accounts he created so he can White knight Tesa/A-Set/Iris to get her attention. This guy was literally worse than the character made to parody people like him
Most GG supporters arent opposed to more diversity in video games, it was always a matter of how it was achieved. Battlefield WW2 is the wrong way, Horizon Zero Dawn is the correct way.
When he points out that steam requires that you need a copy before you can review, that says to me that he would have done it to the steam version if he didn't need to buy like a 1000 copies
Ironically enough, Ota is a character who's parodied in the game, making dummy Twitter accounts so he can argue with himself and stir up controversy, and is obsessively attracted to A-Set. Also, it's weird that he thinks Ota didn't get a proper route. Ota got a really touching resolution with his mom, which was surprising to me because he was insufferable through most of the game. I bet someone like him thinks that a "proper route" for Ota is him hooking up with A-Set, which is just unnerving to think about.
@@tempusmars6272 I don't think so? As far as I know, the only action I saw in the game was Ota getting fed by the maids. I think Tesa and Ota just became better friends afterwards.

The best thing about this is the fact that more people will get to learn about Ai The Somnium Files. Kotaro Uchikoshi is a genius and deserves to have people view his work
Aizu Kanna That’s awesome! I haven’t beaten AI yet (started it a while ago) but one series that I HIGHLY recommend is the Zero Escape triology. One of the best stories in gaming imo. That series made me into a huge fan of Kotaro. I recommend you go into it blind and dedicate a decent amount of time to it. I don’t want to spoil anything for it, but if you liked the Netflix movie Bandersnatch, you will love the Zero Escape series 🤘
“I don’t like this game because of how it treated my waifu!!!!” Dude just go write a fanfic instead like everyone else. Don’t take it out on people who worked hard on the game and made her exist in the first place
LITERALLY YEA..... idk the nerve of some of these people to actively harass and ruin shit bc they cant figure out they can just write what they want or draw a better outcome like. Dude u hold the power just do it lmao
From what he said, it wasn't just that. Fanbases can get really cancerous, power tripping 9yo admins will throw bans left and right just on anyone they don't like. I've met with far too many similar situations to not feel for him. That said, he himself was kinda power tripping, he attacked those who were not guilty of anything, and that is pathetic. So I would blame both this guy, and the fanbase. Still, he was right at one thing - metacritic should have some kind of protection against review bombing.
Honestly, I might check this game out now, thanks to an idiot who hated it. He doesn't realize what he did would really become just free advertising for the game.
Well, he _did_ demonstrate how broken the Metacritic website is, when one single person can drop the user review score of 8.2 from 77 ratings all the way to a score of 1.6.
WarpRulez true but he also contradicted himself when he expressed his actual reasons as to why he did it. his “attachment issues” with a virtual video game girl.
WarpRulez you’re basically saying he wasn’t wrong because he “technically” did what he wanted to prove but it’s not the real reason he wanted to review bomb a well received game due to his obsession with a virtual character. it is related to what you just said.
@@PhilospherStoned I didn't say that he wasn't wrong. I just said that if we can learn anything from this incident is that Metacritic is broken because of how easily one single person can sabotage a score. At the very least that person helped demonstrate this fact.
WarpRulez yongyea already said that he was technically true about the faulty rating systems from Metacritic but you and a small percentage of others fail to realize this was all from one person and did this because “i need to protect my waifu” nobody is saying he was wrong about that but the reason he did it was wrong and extremely toxic.
Funny thing is I never heard about this game until now, and after checking it out it actually looks pretty good. Dude just brought more attention and sales to the game by pulling this stunt lol.
@Swiggity Swaggity Shaggity This shit happens a LOT in Japan. BowlUndrFire dude made it look like he wanted to mess up the game’s review score, but really he was doing it so people can talk about it, what a genius!
Has anyone realized something similar happened in-game at AI: Somnium Files? In the game, a character called Ota gets caught posting negative comments about Tesa on social media. However, Ota was also posting comments countering the negative comments by himself with a different account, pretending to be the “online white knight” for Tesa. Isn’t this similar to what happened IRL?
Probably why at one point someone on twitter tells him to learn even a little bit about Ota's growth. This man is going through the same story arc. He already knows how it ends! Spoiled it for himself smh.

"Ota didn't get a proper route" As someone who didn't like Ota at all for most of the game, the Ota route is what made me actually start to like him, the Ota route was very good
Did you read the spoiler segment on his reasonings (SPOILERS obviously) He wrote "Takes Naixatloz, the proper antagonist of said videos. and tosses it aside by cruelly making them a hallucination caused by A-set having a brain tumor, with barely any foreshadowing. and even requires you to rip her fucking eye out yourself, as part of a bullshit "One of the Psync machines requires you to remove an eye!" plotline that other characters get to conveniently ignore, all part of a route that's specifically about her." All of this is so contrived first off the brain tumor is foreshadowed he just ignores all the time Iris gets dizzy and faints how she was suddenly told she needs to dance less etc. And where does he get the whole idea the prototype psync machine rules only applied to Iris???????? its the entire fucking reason Saito removed the left eyes in the first place this just show this guy didnt care to even try to understand the iris end because he didnt like the iris end had iris die thats it
@@gaymerjerry I don't see what your reply has to do with the original comment? None of that applies to Ota or his route. As for the whole spoiler thing itself... Most of that is based on a supposed inconsistency in the prototype psync machine's eye removal, which is just actually false...? The game goes out of its away, during the confrontation of Saito in Boss's body, that Saito always had to pull the eye out... and then put it back in. He didn't replace the victim's eye because he didn't give a shit, but he always replaced the eye for whichever body he swaps to. You even see that when he and Date finally swap back to their original bodies. Saito hates how Aiba looks, but puts her in anyways because even a bizarre yellow fake eye is "better than nothing" Oh, as for Naix, I think most people can agree that it's better than the alternative. From a purely in-game standpoint, you have an entire organization dedicated to trying to kidnap some girl... for learning about a secret plot from some conspiracy magazine she bought. Of fucking course that's not real. The general premise of Iris being mostly shafted in her own game, dying in her own route, is a valid and fair criticism, but nothing worth review bombing a game over, and it's drenched in bad takes that show how obsessed that guy really was over Iris, just by how he ignored obvious answers to a lot of his issues in favor of thinking about Iris exclusively.
And this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Many games in the SMT series have been hit by spurious review bombings as well, though for unknown reasons. And the sad thing is that it seems every fanbase has these kinds of obsessives in one shape or another. To use SMT again, there it has an infamous narcissistic individual who can't accept any criticisms for the series and will twist and bend anything anyone says or even the games themselves present and attack anyone for thinking differently. And I don't mean in the ways of a standard fanboy, I mean to a downright obsessive degree.
@@anormaldudewhowasattackedb9864 Yes, the problem was that some Chinese players got butthurt because a meme about their stupid president was included in the game. So they review bombed that game to such an extreme degree, that it forced the poor devs to remove the game from Steam.
Not "unknown reasons", it happened when Joker won a Smash tournament; the "fanbase" was pissed calling him op and Bombed every SMT game on metacritic which, by the way, still have those low scores.
@@TheNapster153 Actually the behavior is unbelievably common in real life. In cases of murder and anyone that expresses an interest in the investigation of said crime. While people close to the victim will try to be as cooperative as possible, they generally don't want to actively partake in the investigation due to the risk of messing it up or getting in over their heads. Whereas the person who committed the crime would want to be updated on every detail involved and/or send the investigation down false trails. What is the first give-away about this guy is that he hasn't expressed interest in investigating any other cases of review bombing before, for other games. So it becomes apparent that he isn't some Sherlock Holmes type and instead had a huge personal interest in this particular case.
My first thought: "Okay, so this guy just went on a power trip because he figured out how to use multiple accounts. Pathetic." My second thought: "...WOW....okay, this guy is messed up, and should probably get help..."
Tesa has plenty of screentime as a very centric character. It's more that of all the characters, she suffers the most. And that means something when the game has a 12 year old called Mizuki who has a mother that beats the shit out of her on daily basis and a father who literally says "I have a company now, I don't have time for some kid", gets bullied in school and has to end up being the one who finds her parents dead. One of them being hung up with a gigantic hook in his skull and the other with an icepick in her eyesocket. Being Tesa sucks with the amount of tragedies in her life that Mizuki almost seems blessed.
This dude literally did the same thing as what Ota Matsushita did in the game when he created multi-accounts to protect A-Set. Guys, P-sync with him and remove all his mental locks.
Once I heard it was resetTrash, I knew it was the person from the site doing it. If he was going to say something, he would have said it in the initial post. That individual has some serious problems. This whole "waifu" thing is usually harmless but some people can't tell the difference between infatuation with a fictional character and actual love. Have a favorite character, have a favorite "waifu" but understand that they are fake and investing real emotion and real time into this kind if one sided relationship is hazardous at best.
I can absolutely, positively 100% confirm this, because i used to be like this guy. It wasn't even obsession anymore, i was mentally fucking insane. Telling people (thank god only on the internet) in excruciating detail how they deserved to be tortured to death alongside their family just because they criticized my fictional crush. It's been 8 years now since then and i still have nightmares about it. People like this need professional help because they are a danger to themselves and everyone around them, and it's not even their fault.
On that note, if anyone happens to know the medical term for this kind of mental disorder and could tell me, i would be very thankful. I would search for it myself, but i am terrified that studying my obsession and its effects on me from back then could cause me to relapse and fall back into becoming an unstable lunatic again. For 8 years i have been reading about nearly every mental disorder known to man to find out what the fuck was wrong with me, medically speaking to no avail. My therapist was at a loss aswell.

That is why Steam scores are the best - only owners who played game a bit can vote. And then you always can check history of votes and see how score was changing overtime.
There is another system in place that will not count multiple reviews in a very short amount of time towards the overall review score but can be seen in the reviews page
Yeah, and the 'hours played' is really good too. Someone that says 'this game is shit' after playing 2000 hours is probably just upset about the recent update and someone that says 'the ending really sucked' after having played for 40 minutes can equally be disregarded.
@@Durva360 I mean, I'm not gonna lie. I do see a purpose in review-bombing as a tool of communication when something goes wrong between consumers and devs. But, Dear lord! This is not one of those cases at all. Period.

@jose ramiro reynoso ruiz simply buying the game isn't enough nowadays, because devs will focus on the people who do and assume that everything's fine, when in reality more and more people are becoming sick of being taken advantage of by AAA devs who treat consumers as walking wallets. Also, people wouldn't be review bombing in the first place if devs opened a dialogue and allowed themselves to listen to constructive criticism and/or stopped utilizing anti-consumer practices that screw over their loyal fans, while labeling anyone who speaks out against it as being toxic just do they wouldn't have to listen to what they have to say about an issue. Like I don't see people review bombing a good game that didn't screw over their customers or bad mouth them in Twitter, so it can't be a coincidence.

"Ota didn't get a proper route"
As someone who didn't like Ota at all for most of the game, the Ota route is what made me actually start to like him, the Ota route was very good
Did you read the spoiler segment on his reasonings (SPOILERS obviously)
He wrote "Takes Naixatloz, the proper antagonist of said videos. and tosses it aside by cruelly making them a hallucination caused by A-set having a brain tumor, with barely any foreshadowing. and even requires you to rip her fucking eye out yourself, as part of a bullshit "One of the Psync machines requires you to remove an eye!" plotline that other characters get to conveniently ignore, all part of a route that's specifically about her."
All of this is so contrived first off the brain tumor is foreshadowed he just ignores all the time Iris gets dizzy and faints how she was suddenly told she needs to dance less etc.
Saito hates how Aiba looks, but puts her in anyways because even a bizarre yellow fake eye is "better than nothing"
Oh, as for Naix, I think most people can agree that it's better than the alternative.

Imagine being so obsessed with fictional characters that you can’t distinguish them from reality. This guy needs therapy
Naruto isn't real btw
Look up the folks who get legally married to days fictional characters, then feel utter despair and cringe.
I heard stories of people legally marring their waifu's, so I'm not surprised.

That is why Steam scores are the best - only owners who played game a bit can vote. And then you always can check history of votes and see how score was changing overtime.
"There's no option" are the ones I see the most and even those seem to be decreasing.
Not to mention you see their playtime
Imagine review bombing something without basing it on the products' merit...
So like the majority of review bombs that happen now a days?
@@Durva360 I mean, I'm not gonna lie. I do see a purpose in review-bombing as a tool of communication when something goes wrong between consumers and devs. But, Dear lord! This is not one of those cases at all. Period.
@jose ramiro reynoso ruiz People don't buy the game and still review bomb it, so what are you going on about? Apparently it's an effective method when it gets a response from the devs.
@jose ramiro reynoso ruiz a 0/10 for being a bad game that utterly destroyed the classic original in the process and lied to all the people during their trailers. I say that 0/10 is well deserved.
Wow, someone from ResetEra is an unhinged and deranged individual. Id never see that coming.
To be fair, from what I read, even ResetEra wants nothing to do him.
Golden Witch These people support pedophilia you know?
Can anyone tell me what is ResetEra? First time do I hear about something like this.
@@cloroxhammer3289 It's a cesspool of nasty people who rallied around gaming.
I'm not the most knowledgeable about the timeline, but basically ReeesetEra is what was created by the old people from the NeoGaf forum, after it got closed/cleaned up because a lot of people there got accused/convicted of pedophilia.
Now, if you think of any bad take, silly outrage or brigading against games that happened in the recent years, then 95% of the time it came from them.
It's literally filled with sjws trying to destroy games they don't like. And sensible people get banned for silly reasons like criticizing a posters opinion or "downplaying bigotry".
@@cloroxhammer3289 It's a "gaming" forum. It has people from the game industry and game "journalist" that frequent there. It has in the past had legit insider information. The contention some have for the site is it has a moral holier than though aspect and has a major political biased. That and it has users that are supported by the site that have brought campaigns to censor or ban games from Japan that they find problematic because of political ideology that is usually taken extremely out of context. They are also hugely hypocritical and have banned many people for not breaking terms of service, but just giving the "wrong" opinion. They also have in the past defended shady people that are perceived pro pedophilia and again blasting people who question or have an opinion that goes against the mob on any specific subject. So think the worse aspects of 4Chan with a neo far left tint and supported by those in media. To be fair as stated earlier there is at times legit information that is game industry related and a few bright spots in the pile of trash. Sadly though in my perspective the negatives outweigh the good by a major margin.
