Rodan showed up and fought mothra while godzilla continued to fight ghidorah. Remember that Godzilla was supercharged by the nuke let off infront of him. Ghidorah charged himself up to even the playing fields and beat godzilla in Boston. Godzilla was down and out until two things happened. Mothra sacrificed her life to give godzilla life and Maddison Russell's mother distracted ghidorah giving godzilla enough time to get up which led to ghidorahs defeat because godzilla was supercharged.
