You have to keep in mind that the witch is a role in the story of WOO, not Margaret Hamilton. Any woman who plays the witch should have her own take on it, not just try to be like Margaret Hamilton. Everyone who liked your comment needs to read mine
The mains did such a good job being in character. They didn't just speak their lines (like in so many shows I see) but they genuinely acted them out. Awesome job :)
The witch's costume is on point, but...she isn't exactly acting evil-ish. Edit: Ohhh goodness...I didn’t think a comment I made over three years ago would have some kind of thread...this was just my personal opinion 😅.
Doing the Wizard of Oz currently as the Tinman, can confidently say this is one of my favorite numbers in the whole show! It’s fun to dance to, it’s extremely catchy, and our choreographer did an amazing job well, choreographing it! The Jitterbugs are having fun, the four of us are having fun, I’m really excited for when we perform it in a few weeks from now!
This play is overall very well done. Being a lifelong fan of the film, I am very impressed that the play included the delayed Jitterbug scene that never made it into the movie. Nice!
I just read about this song being deleted from the original Wizard of Oz movie. I have to say that it fits in pretty well with the storyline of the movie... too bad they deleted it. However, thanks for putting this video up so I can see it. It was well done and fun. The actors/singers/dancers were wonderful.. Bravo!
It's a good song but it bogs down the drama. Most songs in TWoO advance the plot or help define a character, but this one really doesn't. Its loss doesn't really hurt the movie.
I don't know. but I like it actually. it makes more a bit more sense to me for the witch to sing about them than Dorothy, who has never been to Oz and wouldn't know about the jitterbugs....The witch would sing it more sinisterly than Dorothy of course.
MouseHouseGaming_MCPE & More! I know Dorothy sang it in the original but the witch singing it makes a lot more sense. How would Dorothy know what they are?
I have no complaints about this performance; it's actually a real quality youth production. I'm impressed. I just feel like the song was out of place, and it's probably best it was removed. It was basically 1930s fan service - the only reason it was added in was because the jitterbug had recently become a popular dance. Fun song, though. Good songs that are removed because they feel out of place are nothing new in the world of musicals, especially movie musicals.
im doing this play at my school at the moment but the performing arts teacher split dorthy in too 5 pices so it was equal for 5 girls so everyone had a chance of being the main charitor
a bean with intentions Yeah I learned this dance for a callback and it was much harder than the dance in this musical; the kids in this production do look fairly young though so I don’t blame them for having simple choreography.
I really wish they had kept this in the original film. In the movie we even hear the witch say to the monkeys “I sent a little insect ahead to take the fight out of them”
JosephIsFloating Thank. You! It makes so much sense for the Witch to sing it. I know a lot are not used to seeing the Witch sing, as she didn't do such a thing in the movie, but that's the beauty of broadway. Who says she shouldn't sing?
Scarecrow when he starts to dance with the jitterbugs: This is kind of fun
I wish the witch acted more like the witch (voice wise)
@@zehra9258 yup
I'd imagine it would be a pain to sing with that kind of accent. I do wish she would have talked in that accent though.
She has a pretty voice. Glad she sang with it.
Eh, highschool. 🤷

Especially the Lion imitating Bert Lahr's Brooklyn(?) dialect.
When the main cast and the jitterbugs are doing the dancing together thing, you can see lion & the girl they were with had NO idea how to do it 😂😂

I love that costume for scare crow, and the person who plays lion has his pronunciation PERFECT
*I'm sorry but this is the best song in the whole damn show.*
True I’m doing the show and it really is fun
EXACTLY IM DOING THE WIZARD OF OZ AND EVERYINE AGREES
I KNOW I wish they didn't cut it from the film.
I agree. I'm always so sad it was cut from the film. I choreographed The Wizard of Is & this was my favorite too!

Agreed. I’m in the Wizard of Oz play at the moment I’m Dorothy. But our witch just naturally has a witch voice 😂
she’s not evil. u would know if u watched wicked
Coco typically in the Wizard of Oz she’s evil, this isn’t Wicked tho. They are two different musicals
Coco This was based off the 1930’s movie Wizard Of Oz,way before wicked existed so your comment doesn’t fit with the scenario.

I got casted as a jitterbug recently so I’m seeing what i have to look forward to, and I’m super excited! This looked so good!

Same!!!!! My theater is doing this play for the summer play
It's honestly so fun!!! I was a jitterbug and I had a blast! I hope you ended up having fun!

My school did this dance in their Wizard of Oz play. I have to say, they did great!
“I’m just having fun” he definitely doesn’t have his brain yet XD
This is the best version of the jitterbug on UA-cam by a country mile. Well done to all who took part. Wonderful.
My theater program may not be on UA-cam, but trust me this sucks compared to mine

Deleted, not delayed scene. Wish I knew how to turn off this darn spell check that changes my words.
If you’re on iPhone go to settings and look up “check spelling” in the search bar. Then press the tab and turn autocorrection off :)

That was more like the Charleston than the Jitterbug.
To be fair, in the cut scene from the movie, they don’t exactly do a Jitterbug, either.
In 1939, Jitterbug was just a generic term for a lively dance. It didn't get its specific designation until the 1940s.
The lion is amazing!!
