Hey Bill, Black Friday can be great for online buys, January is typically better for buying in store (in my UK experience anyway). Getting older and more sedentary I’m moving from sports to dress watches, to the point I’d now love a Daniel Roth having not considered them. I’ll have to keep saving! All the best, Ed
Jeepers that Moser is highly attractive at that price, I saw that a while ago on ebay then lost the link.. And I looked at the JLC last year at 10k but at that price it's a steal. Luckily both USA based as I don't want the hassle of importing as customs here are beyond comprehension. (I'm currently trying export two motorbikes to UK and they are both held up in customs here since September!) Great finds Thanks Bill
My wrist size is ~20cm and I've been finding the 39-40mm range is where it's at for me. As Bill said there's always room for exceptions based on how the watch wears. One common example: if the diameter is almost all dial & hardly any bezel, that wears bigger. Lug-2-lug is also a big deal of course.
Yes and no sirs. I would say that in the last 20 years there was the Hype for fat things (watches, cars, houses, etc...) beside Panerai who has an historic of big fat Diameter. But this not the essence of swiss watches. The roots of watch industry comes from wars between catholics and protestant who decided that jewelry were to exuberant and demonstrative so decided to adapt the jewelry into watches that wouldn't look exuberant. Typicall from Calvinism... Sorry maybe I am starting to confuse everyone and myself 😅
Judging by the title Bill, I thought you were going all AliExpress on me lol. But as always, you have sleuthed some excellent choices. What's not to like about the Toric for this kind of money? Being a Parmigiani fan, King C himself must feel tempted. Happy Thanksgiving my American friend.
Hey Tuna, thanks man! Aliexpress is an important source for watch parts to build a watch while you're saving to buy a really great watch! Take care, Bill
Man I never knew watches were ever on sale for 60% offf!!! I’ve been watching watch vids on UA-cam for 2 years and just bought myself a few nice aliexpress watches including an Aesop rose gold tourbillon with the dark blue metallic sunburst pattern like the H Moser without any logo and 3 yrs warranty for $648AUD (probably 400ish USD) and a nice sugess rose gold chronograph with metallic blue face with ceramic bezel for $324AUD. Both watches have sapphire Crystal back and front, 3 and 2 years warranty, both manual wound (I learnt from you that these are the watches that display the most intricate engineering which I’m a nerd for) and the chronograph even has a swan neck regulator! My sim is to buy a bunch of different style mechanical watches to see which one I like the most, because I’d like to spend up to $25kAUD in a few years on a single dress watch for myself. I do love the breguet classique series with the plain guilloche and they have quartz watches like this (3 types) for around $80 and a tourbillon version that comes in blue and silver dial. I didn’t buy these because there were so many versions I won’t miss out on them finishing production. But as we all know our taste changes all the time but I can’t see how I would ever prefer something as classic, beautiful, timeless, elegant, as the breguets. After seeing my first guilloche watch I can’t fathom how it’s not popular lol and that parmigiani is also beautiful! The thing is now that I’ve seen the parmi on sale for 60% off, it would definitely be a contender, but I would never know when one of the few watches I can’t pick between will be reduced by 60% or one that I thought would be out of my reach would become attainable! Ahhh you given me even more to think about haha. I too love Daniel Roth watches btw. Also I’ve been wanting to get a custom watch for my sons 21st birthday which will either be a custom benzinger OR I would give my watch (the breguet most likely) and for him to pass it down to his son and so forth. The benzinger is more custom and would literally be a piece unique and something maybe more trendy for a young person but then again a breguet would always look timeless, and a parmi would also throw a spanner into my decision process lol lucky my son doesn’t turn 21 for 9 years! Yes I’m that OCD in plsnning ahead haha but I want it to be as perfect as possible and don’t mind watching litetally thousands of videos untill it comes close to me pulling the trigger. Any advice would be appreciated! Any things to think about that I might not have considered? I’m all ears mate. Love your videos and love learning :) thanks in advance
None of my kids share my interest in watches, but one of my grandsons does! So Chris (or is it Sandy?) we get to make choices for our strange hobby like few others. Take care, Bill
Hi Bill, thanks so much for your videos. I’m learning a lot! I’ve been collecting sporadically for 20+ years and slowly developing my knowledge and appreciation. My next long term purchase aim is a high horology watch but one that I can appreciate the movement from the dial side. Not fully skeletonised though. I’m thinking Breguet Tradition or Glashütte Original Panoinverse. What are your thoughts and can you make any other recommendations? Thanks again
i think they don‘t ship to usa because of the leather strap of some of the watches like crocodile etc. as far as i know the export of those straps to usa is forbidden
You're most likely right, Khashayar, but cowhide is not a problem. Every other hide seems to be a problem, though. Easy solution ... remove the strap when shipping to the US. Just ship the watch and buckle, and then either ship the strap separately or sub an alligator strap with a cowhide or textile one. The US is a huge market to pass up. Take care, Bill
@@watchartsci you‘re absolutely right. i‘ve also seen real good quality fake leather straps made by for example roussou who also makes straps for f. p. journe. they look very good and real and you can also wear your watch and go swimming without distroying the leather strap.
Love the effort you went to, summarising the offers/watches to present to us like that.
I appreciate that Lefroy...thanks man! Take care, Bill
Love the LUC, I cannot believe that you saw it at that price.
It's only been lately that I've recognized that depth of values in the Chopard, but I've had my eye on the LUC models for a long time. Take care, Bill
Thanks Bill, I definitely don't need another watch, but with these sale prices, I am really thinking about getting that Beaubleu Vitruve.
Lash yourself to the mast as your ship passes the Isle of Sirens & Watches, Abdul! Take care, Bill
@watchartsci Giving all my cards to my wife, maybe that helps get over the Black Friday Deals 🤣
I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving Dr. Sanders!!! 🦃
Very restful Javi! We needed that Take care, Bill

Ed, those Daniel Roth watches are both unique and relatively affordable. I'd really like to get that gold GMT one. Take care, Bill

My pleasure Richard. Take care, Bill
The white dialed Beaubleu reminds me of the recent Lederer Triple Observatory Chronometer.
Blu watches remain a hidden gem, they use stunning dials.
I like the gold BLUs HRM. The horology is what Lederer does with the basic movement; not necessarily the movement itself. Take care, Bill
damn that LUC is a hot one at 5k.
It is indeed Roubén. There are some great buys on Chopard LUC models. Take care, Bill
Thanks for these picks. In particular, that L.U. Chopard XPS 1860 is talkin' to me. A bonkers watch & attainable for many.
That is a beautiful piece, and the price is pretty bonkers, Vonkruel! Take care, Bill
That Daniel Roth was gorgeous 🤩
You'll get no argument from me, Brian! Take care, Bill
Great choices Neighbor, Daniel Roth watch is unbelievable…. I hope you are enjoying Thanksgiving weekend. Take care!!!
It’s a winner, for sure, Alek. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving too. Take care, Bill
Thanks Bill for great review. Personal opinion: any men watch below 36mm or above 42.0 mm isn't wearable
That's pretty much my range too Max, but there's variation in how a watch wears and of course wrist size. Take care, Bill
