    I have cloned Auto's by Air Layering. The purpose of this was to reverse the cutting with Silver Thiosulphate and produce S1 clones of the donor plant, also to create Auto Hybrids with other plants. Lots of advantages in reversing clone cuttings over full size plants. You can easily keep tiny pollen producing plants away from flowers, collect pollen and take it to the buds you want fertilised. So making a small amount of seed, without damaging yield or quality in your grow.

    • @megaflux7144
      @megaflux7144 5 місяців тому +3

      why the hell would you not just treat a single branch on the plant? air layering would not bypass the auto trait would it (it wouldnt make sense for it to)? even just cloning them normally they go in to flower immediately after sprouting roots (making it easy to treat them anyways).

      @@megaflux7144 Treat the branch and your whole plant and the room gets pollinated, I'm not trying to bypass the auto trait, I'm trying to keep control of the pollen. I Air layered co's I couldn't be arsed doing cuttings the normal way, i.e. Setting up a propagator, cloning light, etc. for 1 or 2 cuts. And layering is the least stressful way of taking cuttings for any plant. My aim is to mature one male flower and get enough pollen to stain my finger tip. I then go touch up the girls in just the places I want. Creating between 10 and 30 seed on a plant and not the thousands which result from a blanket pollination. Small numbers of seed also take nothing from the quality of the smoke, heavily seeded bud is usually nothing compared to the Sensi. So that is the hell why I do it this way.

      Because he wants to make s1. Not sure if you have to spray the whole plant or if you can reverse a single branch. He probably didn’t know either so decided to just take and root a cutting or two and just reverse those. He might want to use the pollen to hit other plants as well. At the end of the day it doesn’t really matter. It’s not like taking and rooting a clone costs much. It costs a few pennies each. And rooting a few cuttings takes no effort. Just take em, dip em and stick em and leave em in a propagator for seven to ten days.

    • @megaflux7144
      @megaflux7144 5 місяців тому +2

      @@happybee7725 no, you can cover the plant with plastic (bag/tarp/whatever) and spray just 1 branch. that would give you pollen and pollinate the plant in the process (yay free seeds). generally speaking one would take a clone from a healthy plant, i have never considered mutants (which is what autos are) "healthy". it makes more sense to me to do normal clones and start the sts treatment immediately since they go in to flower as soon as you cut them anyways (which is when you are supposed to start treating them). another option would be revegging, but that takes forever. my suspicion is.. since stress or roots hitting something is what triggers flower in autos (as far as i know) air layering would have the new roots hit something and BAM its flower time. if it somehow bypasses that switch being hit then thats awesome and something to be looked in to.

    This is
    Really a simple conversation. It's just a belief of mine. Has anyone thought about tissue culture? You can get the tissue culture kit online. No problem to deal with the
    Genetic material in tissue culture and the plantlets think that they are just born from seed. So when you find that beautiful finatype,taking tissue culture restarts the clock.And therefore you could have a perpetual harvest.It's just the thought.I'm not sure if it's proven but I thought about it! That could be a great video!!!!😊😊 4:20 test tube babies.

    Get an auto that has a longer grow cycle and then take all the cuttings you can as soon as possible! If you can get them to root you will have multiple auto plants that can grow at least ½ the size and if you have 8 clones made from 1 auto and each produces about ½ the amount you will STILL end up with 400% more yeild! This is only worth it if you can get them to root fast and the auto strain has a but longer grow time!! Hope someone has had ok results with cloning auto plants?! Normally only new growers grow auto plants though thinking it is easier but the only difference is switching your lights to 12/12 whenever you want which allows for much larger yeilds!!!

      @@dmo848 havent wasted time on seedsman in like 6 years, and autos are NEVER the same quality as photos because the genetics are diluted with the ruderalis trait. you cant really properly use scrog with autos because you cant control when they go in to flower and every bit of pruning stunts them, so you definitely dont get the same weight out of the plants (to me thats also a "quality" factor). i could potentially also get hundreds of plants out of a single seed with photos, i dare you to do it with autos. havent dealt with anyone but humboldt seed company for years now, once you find the best you dont tend to fuck with the rest.. though there is a company in BC that doesnt ship to america that had some seeds i wanted. also.. "faster" is really not a factor to me, id rather fill a 4x4 with 1 gnarly plant than have 4 "cute" little bushes.

    • @megaflux7144
      @megaflux7144 5 місяців тому

      @@dmo848 they are definitely NOT "just as good quality" as photos. ALL weed is getting better, that includes autos. the thing is though MOST of the autos have different terpene profiles than the photos do because the ruderalis is part of the genetics and therefore it dilutes the original photo genetics. if gene editing weed starts happening large scale and they can JUST switch the single autoflower trait without changing ANYTHING else about the seeds it could happen, but we arent there yet. seedsman is kind of shit (especially in america where some vendors they sell will not ship here) but if you want to up your game try humboldt. ilgm is very reliable too, but i find their selection lacking and lagging, pacific seedbank has lots of variety but ive had a couple rounds of duds from them too (yea great you get a refund, but you still end up having wasted the time trying to get beans to pop that just dont).
