bro ive had this hub since it came out. best hub ever, found the 90 degree slack ring works great for fakies just so you never have to worry about it engaging during a squirly fakie. try give a 5 tap flat a go u can use the pedal pressure to help get the 5 around and quickly switch it back for the fakie, feels unreal. much love man, team z coaster!!
The Zcoaster gets more enjoyable with time too, once you learn how to use its advantages it’s definitely the best hub but at first it can seem useless and frustrating to use
I had the Z coaster for about five years, I just recently got a BSD planetary. I might end up back on the Z coaster. It seems like there's just no free coaster option where you can count on having that pedal pressure when you want it. 😔
Dude I watched all those guys on Dennis’ channel shredding coaster tricks for the whole game if bike series and I was like danggg any cassette brethren woulda been cooked. Sick to see you playin on one now!
Not Spencer making a video after I was eyeing this hub the last couple days. Sick to see a shredder trying new things and getting scared, makes me feel a lot better about learning new things! I think the hard part for me is spending as much on a hub as I do on a frame 😬 but I do be enjoying cassette forwards and freecoaster backwards...
I've had a Z coaster for 6 years, I maintain it once a year, cleaning and light oiling, has never let me down and you can tune the slack with the different degree rings. I've run Profile parts since forever (80s) have never let me down.
@@mikehagen3785 I've heard plenty of good about Profile parts, especially their hubs. Currently consider the Demolition Whistler Pro for my next build, but I wanna get into fakie stuff and have done better learning fakies on a coaster. Currently running the WTP Hybrid so I can switch back and forth, but I find myself a lot happier in cassette mode. Everything feels way slower in coaster mode.
@@lane2376 I have 2 bikes identical as far as frame, fork geometry, neck and bars, 1 has the Z coaster, front brakes and gyro, the other has more race inspired parts including Elite hub, light weight tires, tubes, Ti spindle, etc... I'm older ....ish.. I've tried other coasters, but I like the tunability and run the lowest slack , I'm not super awesome, I just f around, that said I can half cab, and 270 out of fakies, the hubs solid
I've only tried riding a freecoaster a few times and my right kneecap hated me for it! I was always expecting pedal pressure that just wasn't there causing me to bash my knee into the stem
i got one and i learned to start pedaling position with my oppo foot forward so i wouldnt pedal as hard when the slack goes aways id be with my good foot ready to pedal
I have enough fun figuring out normal manuals, you're hitting fakie manuals like a boss. Nice one Spencer. It looks like the Z coaster is going to give you some fun options.
I love my planetary freecoaster but I've noticed and talked to a lot of people that don't even mess with it and actually the way the planetary works is if your wheel is spinning forward it's cassette and vice versa but yeah you don't have forced forward pedal pressureI was trying to tell this guy about the negatived feed back and how you didn't like it he didn't believe me 😂
Make sure to give us more updates on this hub. Like how you feel about it in a month from now. I had the same experience with the planetary. It would also randomly engage out of nowhere. It is on my other bike....that sits in the garage. I went back to a freecoaster, but I miss having a cassette.
Planetary hubs be hella fire especially when u moonwalk fakie manual but I use to run profile z coaster before I got a freenight one and definitely was the most reliable
I found out with the fakie manual is that if your body starts to lean to one side, you should try to counter that with leaning the bike to the other side. so imagine if your body starts leaning to the right side of the bike, the bike would start steering to the left, to counter this you would have to lean the bike to the other side, further from you. basically make the bike lean on the left side of the tread of the tire. same goes with the other side. I hope this helps
Thanks for sharing this experience with a new coaster. I'm getting back into bmx and want to focus on techy ground tricks. Definitely thinking about getting a new rear wheel with a freecoaster. Is there is certain type that you would recommend for a super green beginner like me?
Spencer do you still use the Transformer Rail, curious if it still has your interest or if it’s just simpler to get the Subrosa Rail and call it a day?
M'lord on a Z with Ti...... you forgot to mention that's the most expensive hub in all the world of BMX. Probably worth every penny but really the domain of elite world class athletes like yourself.
I have a bsd westcoaster, and I adjusted my slack with washers from the hardware store. I have ot as good as a coaster can get in my opinion. Still wish I had pedal pressure though.
@@dan_2846 its just BSD's regular freecoaster. It seems pretty durable, I haven't had any issues. The planetary was nothing but issues though. It randomly engages all the time.
Try the 90 and get back to this comment or comment one of my shorts... i'm really curious what you prefer I ride the 90 because I always slipped when catching the cassette and almost broke a leg...
these things are silly, either just ride cassette or free coaster, wanting to have the option for both while riding makes no sense to me. it’s like wanting to brake but without having the brake level or something. like why. just go brakes or brakeless
Had to watch this one to get warmed up for a 45 minute jay video marathon, I think I'm ready.
That "Harry Main" impersonation was spot on!!!😂😂
Thinking the same thing.
So do you now identify as a coaster rider or are you simply non planetary?
Lmfao🔥🔥🔥
bi-coasterous
🤣
semi-coaster
haha... that's gold
That was a rock solid harry main impression
Bro chill your gonna start a law suit 😂
I’m really liking the eclat shift coaster/ cassette
That Harry main impression was too good 😂
I’ve had a zcoaster on my dirt jumper for a few years. I rebuilt it for the first time the other day and it’s super solid. ❤

When you’re trying fakie manuals, look through your bars and look at the top of your stem/top of your tyre. It helps you stay centred over your bike
Would love to see a fakie tabletop over that hip!
I almost bought the bsd revolution hub and I tried some one else’s at a skate park and hated it. Profile is da way!
not much of a twitch viewer but I'll happily throw some of my bezos bucks at Spencer to support the content

@2:00 lmao 💀 I literally thought it was a Harry Main voice over at first 😅
Haha me to sounded just like him 😂
That was incredible. It was like he was possessed by the Scouse steezist.
Hahaha dude I was cooking and turned away from the screen and thought it switched videos for a second 😂
@@BrandonNop at least we know Spencer has a job as a voice over actor after Bmx! On a side note, Im a big fan of your channel/riding also ✊🏻🤘🏼

i ride profile cassettes i tried the BSD revo for 2 weeks hated it. i was wondering about the Z
Would always recommend the BSD revolution hub
Got the chains in the back yard you big disc golf guy now lol
Bro that DIY park looks amazing
Chad should try a fakie tailwhip!😮
And if he fails....tazzer time! If he break a spoke......tazzer time!!
Let's go man! Been waiting for the new bmx video!
For the Hang Five - that seat needs to be shoved where the sun don't shine ;) locked in there lol
I've got the fiend free coaster. Takes a minute to get use to, like it though
Can you do a hop bar live on stream with this hub though?
You was locked in that backwards manual one attempt there. I believe you got that!
The coolest thing about this hub is that you can easily l9ok DIRECTLY where you need to go abd it will go EXACTLY where you want.
It just don't goes sideways...
Thanks for sharing bro. Just one question... does it sound as good as the profile mini cassette when in cassette mode?
kinda, it has 3 pawls vs 4 pawls of the mini, but with the Ti upgrades sounds louder so overall it's still pretty similar to the mini sound
@@413fps thank you. Will buy one based on your answer with the Ti upgrades.
imitation is the greatest form of flattery, lad

When I do footjam to fakies, I always expect to do one crank back because I always engage
I don't know, Spence. If it's anything like the Z-roller trucks back in the day.... these could be a dud! 😂😅
Calm down Harry 😂
Always wanted one
Ive always ridin a cassette
Skyler in the background switched from in-line to quads and got a haircut
Spencer still doing BMX videos?! Happy to see you happy my nigga.
I feel like when I get real low but not too far back, fakie manuals kinda lock in. But it becomes really hard to bail. You kinda just loop if you loop
You’re transitioning and documenting it and Im enjoying the content. I’ll support you through anything as long as you’re happy
The last time I was this early was never.
damn i miss riding my bmx, i never committed enough to it but ive always enjoyed your channel spencer
Plis a 2 video for this

Spencer! I'm not good at mathematics. What has NASA done to you?
My favorite Tampa BMXer; you are Rad!
I been waiting for this for ages. The backlash gods require payment Cushion your cheeks lad.
Hey Spencer, where can I send you a donation?
My stupid BMX brain knows LZ loved this hub.
Spencer do you still use the Transformer Rail, curious if it still has your interest or if it’s just simpler to get the Subrosa Rail and call it a day?
My Cult planetary hub is good. Alienation sucks. The Z coaster I've heard is great.
Fricken super dude! I've been wanting to get a coaster for a while. Money just seems to disappear for other things though lol 😭
You have a lot to learn
fakie manual is such a cool rare trick, why is nobody doing that (besides hard)
M'lord on a Z with Ti...... you forgot to mention that's the most expensive hub in all the world of BMX. Probably worth every penny but really the domain of elite world class athletes like yourself.
Nah there are more expensive hubs. But it's up there. Pretty sure it's like number 2 and only cause it doesn't have ceramic bearings.
I always found it easier to just hop straight in to the fakie manuel instead of 180 then hop fakie manuel
I can't stop myself from carrying the rotation if I do it straight to manual and end up slowly turning
What's the coaster one of those hubs? $
pizza like u = profile
z coaster gang
Hope you are all good, it's been a long time since your last video
fakie dragon slayer.
Keep the coaster
Yeah I still like my planetary better personally. I dont want to have to remember to "unlock" my z coaster before I'm about to go fakie.

First my boy! 🎉
In the line for the dentist...oohh shittttt damnnnn😰😰😰😩😩😩😩😩😩

I'm no good with a free coaster. I'm to old school to change, cassette all day long for me!
Half crank into shiz you wanna backwards guy
