That booby havin' tongue Jabba was my default since forever, until they released the walmart version. I wish I still had its predecessor, the Jabba glob. And unfortunately long ago I sold my vintage one...along with like 70% of my vintage figures. I made some good money, but boy I regret that. Not just 'cause I could get way more money now selling them, but for nostalgia reasons with having so many of them as a kid. Star Wars figures was my first love back in '82 as a two year old...then I got into He-Man. Jabba & Ewok stuff were my absolute favourites.
Even though you don't have the Jabba's palace dio, putting the carbonite wall behind them still makes it look damn good. I think your thumbnail pic is the best I've seen on UA-cam.
I already noticed that these gargoyle heads on the front of the throne, look like the type of that gangster in Mandalorian season 2( gamorrean wrestlers situation)! Super cool review guys!
7:51 I know I already touched on this, but it's definitely the correct scale. Well technically they made Jabba a bit too tall, but they got the length right. We're so used to oversized Jabba's (especially the face proportions), so it makes total sense why looking at it, it comes off a bit small.
This is my first time getting this Jabba mold (latest one I have is that walmart exclusive one), and I initially thought it was undersized. Did some math, and it's accurate to 1/18 scale. So the thing that's throwing it off is the throne, it's definitely oversized. I wish they re-engineered the tail, like something akin to NECA Godzilla figures. Maybe four ball joints, then the end of the tail has a bendy wire. Even though he's the right length, they look a little stumpy with the tail not tapering enough; plus the heavy-handed thick paint lines in the chin area aren't great. All this aside, it's still hands down the best 3 3/4" Jabba, and I do really like it.
9:51 The paint makes such a difference. I don't think the TRU & sail barge ones capture the realism and accuracy that this new one has. But like I said, they went to heavy-handed with the three big dark paint lines on the chin, plus the dark paint on the body (especially backside) is a bit too much. But these are things that can be remedied relatively easily with some paint. *Some droll would be great, but not when it's straight up uniform painted white lines. I'm trying to figure out the best (non-permanent) route to go to give him some realistic drool. Maybe mix green paint into some Pledge floor care liquid.
Hey, wondering what Boog means when it comes to the figure community? You have the OG Boog (the one everyone knows), but then you have several other channels that have that name incorporated. So surely it has some action figure/collector meaning.
I was shocked when I opened up the shipping box to see how tiny the packaging is. Initially I thought they messed up and sent me the 6" Jabba lol. Just didn't look like there was any way you could fit all that stuff in that box...but boy did they do a good job of engineering everything like a master Tetris player.
What a major let down with 8D8 not coming with their torture device...and no elbow articulation! So for all the new collectors, they have to go and buy that original one just to get the accessory that this one should've come with.
