I still find it odd that Camberwell station didn't survive. It could be revived now that the line runs through London and connects with the Underground and Elizabeth lines as well as main lines, but also it would be the nearest station to King's College hospital which is used by people across London (yes it's a local hospital, but it has specialisms which people from outside the local area use) and they could benefit from a rail link from places like Croydon and the other south London stations on Thameslink. As a commuter station it probably wasn't that well used; the line goes to the City, and not many city slickers lived in Camberwell in the 1950s.
Brill video ,all those shors you didbaround Smithfield imagine in the day all those Animals it would have been Bloody Hell as well as Animals, Public Executions people Hung ,Drawn , and Quarterd lovely also St Barts Oldest Hospital in London what history fantastic History on our footsteps, thank You.
I remember being awestruck whenever riding the NLL in or outta Broad St by the phenomenal grittiness thereabouts, and yet only now am I finding myself bewildered that that whole crosstown Ludgate-Hill complex was being operated out of view from my radar..!
Every time that I pass Brookwood on the train, the size even of the set aside military quadrant for the fallen brings me up short. I knew that the stations would look rather special but the Gothic arched train shed roof is splendid and unique. 2:51
And what better way to accompany the Necropolis Railway than with 'Black Train' by Scurravagus: it's the Grim Sleeper, and its crew is made up of the Four Railwaymen of the Apocalypse. In short, the Black Train a metaphor for death.... ua-cam.com/video/kToZnfWNHgs/v-deo.html
I imagine the holders of a First Class coffin ticket would have looked down on a poor soul who only had a third class ticket to Weybridge. Victorian class pedujice at its finest. Smashing video, thank you
too funny: until just recently and for decades on end, the very genre of those then-customarily comical cartoony plates woven in towards the end here had me misinterpret the definition of the infinitive 'to lampoon' 👀
@@LondonPower I saw your video on homeless people, I belive I will be forced to become homeless in the near future. I just wanted to ask is there any knowledge that you can share about being homeless, or is there any help or community for the people that are homeless? Thank you for replying
I know a couple of places that take in homeless people in central london they can provide information about your situation with food, bath but no sleep at night One is the passage next to Victoria station and the other is across from Saint Martin's Church in Trafalgar Square!
So nice for including one of my favourite artists, Scott Joplin.😊

Not surprsing that Ludgate Hill closed as it was ridiculously close to the stations either side!
Ah, the Necropolitan!
