Hi, you did exactly what I did. I manufactured a line splitter with 10 windings on Live wire and if I don't want 10x "amplifier", I clamp only one wire, because i let some space near coil. I used a spray tube as a support and I extract the tube.😂
Nice video. Thank for your effort and for work under pressure of temperatures from your country.
For all, I was the eastern europe guy who sugest this meter. I have it and is a good tool. What I don't like at this clampmeter is "zero" function on DC amp. You can only press once the button, and at second pres, does not do "zero" again, just cancel first "zero " you have from previous press.
UT210E can do this function more time and you can be closer to zero. To deactivate "zero", need to press long on the button.
If you saw, Tony press "zero" and measurement did not start exactly from 0A. With UT210E you can press second time "zero" and it cancel the remaining field from previous atempt. With several press the button, you really start from 0.
Even with this minus, ut207 is a good tool for inrush, loz, 1000A dc, lpf.
Thank you Tony.❤ I enjoyed your video at 1 a.m. in my country😅

Thank you, Tony. I enjoy your product reviews, always helpful! The coil is also handy for measuring low current draw of small devices by powering them through the coil and dividing the read-out by the number of turns. Regards, David

Thanks David, for it was a first to use the coil... it works better than expected. and spot on. 10x = 10x ..

    Nice video!
Seems like a solid clamp meter.
Would’ve liked to see a tear down but I think that wasn’t possible in this case.

I used a battery spot welder to test high amps and peak current measuring using the Tektronix A621.

Clever trick. But I am glad you did it so I donlt have to! Mine just gies to 600A - all I should ever need,
Say, how can I remove dirt from my Hallicrafters S38 cabinet without destroying the crinkle or the lettering? I tried dish detergent and a soft brush, but it didn't work. I don't want to restore the electronics, just want to make it look good.

Yeah thats scary... if dishsoap does not work, you could try windex.. blue windowcleaner fluid.. but try first on a spot where it does not show to much to see what is does...
wgat worked great on a old decade for me was WD40 on a cloth, it brings back the black... but i am not sure what it would do on your Hallicafter... handle with care.

When in tech school, I stumped my instructor with a question over clamp-on meters. I was using an older Amprobe, but it did both AC and DC current. I asked him, " how can a clamp meter measure DC current?" It was something he had never thought about, so he replied, "let me think about it, and I'll get back to you."
About a week later, while I was at the bench in our class's shop, he walked up and said, "they use a Hall Effect sensor." Notice how the gap in the jaws are insulated on these. The sensor is at the tip, and requires an air gap to operate.

Cool question!!! great to know the answer also, never thought about it like that.

@@TonyAlbus That was back in 1983 when I graduated from technical college, and it could have been Amprobe the one to develop that. The ammeter was a newer model, then, and was their first with a red LED readout at the bottom. It had leads, and could also check voltage and resistance.
We had a small, yellow, Sperry ammeter that we used in class, which was AC current only, and you could see the ends of the steel laminations at the jaws' opening, which met together. The new ammeter's jaws' ends were covered in black plastic.
Inside the plastic jaws, and wrapped around the iron laminations of an AC ammeter, are many turns of a fine magnet wire in the AC only. It forms a current transformer which moves a needle on an analog meter. You can't transform DC, though, but you can catch the first current pulse to view from the surge current, which would make an analog meter's needle bounce a bit, though that isn't what we want to measure, thus, the question I asked him.

    • @ssalient
      @ssalient Місяць тому +2
