INTERVIEW | MARTIN CLUNES talks to Ian Horner on the DOC MARTIN set at Port Isaac in Cornwall.

- Actor MARTIN CLUNES plays the grumpiest grouch on TV! We visit him on the set of DOC MARTIN on the coast of Cornwall, in England. “By all means, come over and see us,” Martin said during our previous interview and follow-up in Sydney for his ISLANDS OF AUSTRALIA. He passed me his iPad. “Here’s my Contacts. Take Naomi’s details and she’ll set it up for you. It’d be great if you could drop over.” I did, and she did, and we did. And hectic months later my partner Dane and I arrived at Port Isaac, the fictional Portwenn, in Cornwall, on the far south-west coast of England.

I watched one episode I was hooked my husband and I binged watched we just love doc Martin and the entire cast. Cannot wait for the season 10 episode.
I remember watching one episode years back and I still have had it in my mind because I didn’t know at that time proper name of the show. I found it after years on Netflix and fell in love immediately. It is kinda weird but I study medicne and even though he has a problem like a doctor to communicate normally I admire him so much. Martin Clunes doing excellent job, he is very talented actor.

My wife and I here in Australia became instant fans from episode 1! So much so, we booked a cottage for a week in Port Isaac in 2012 and spent the entire time wandering around the village and surrounding area spotting places from the show. We were a bit sad when the show ended but like all great things, eventually it too came to an end and thought it ended perfectly! I've watched most episodes more than once and still brings us much joy and laughter to this day. The doc played brilliantly by Martin, I think is one of TV's most iconic, unforgettable and lovable characters. Louisa played by Caroline was perfect too, as were all the characters played by superb actors! We still miss sitting down on Saturday evenings with a good cuppa' tea and watching it but have the box set to continue enjoying. We continue to enjoy anything Martin and Caroline are in and especially looking forward to Martin's island series starting here in Australia tonight.
I couldn’t agree more, fellow Aussie! Martin Clunes is superb as the Doc, Caroline also radiant. The show is an absolute treasure! Continue to enjoy the boxset! It really was like that growing up in Cornwall UK in the 60’s and 70’s! One doctor who knew you and your family well. No queues on the telephone either, and the doctor would physically give you a prescription to take to the chemist, who also knew you well. Your doctor would come out at night too. One felt cared for and safe…

I was in Port Isaac only last week,beautiful part of the world,like most of Cornwall.

This is an old clip I think because this is from an earlier season of Doc Martin. When do they start filming the new series? I expect lockdown has affected all the new TV series
You probably know this now - they have recently finished filming, and so I guess the new and final series will be shown in the autumn, but I'm not certain. I was in Port Isaac last week and felt a tinge of sadness that they have filmed the last series and Doc Martin's cottage is for sale! ☹
