I heard that Jonathan Harris kept a notepad on his nightstand, and whenever he thought of a good alliterative insult (usually around bedtime) he would write it down for use later on the show.
Delightfully Hilarious in Hindsight , Dr Zachary Smith , my favourite Antagonist of all time , Not to be forgotten , the greatest robot in film history... R.I.P , Jonathan Harris
Harris re-wrote 90% + of all his dialogue every week. Actors, critics & historians credit him with saving the show from certain cancelation after 13 weeks.
Well done , thanks for putting in the work to string this together !! .. I enjoyed every insult hurled at that clinking clanking conglomeration of cacophonous circuits !!! That blinking beeping bubble headed tin can needed to be put in its place .. ;)
i never knew the reason smith insulted him was to keep him "down" because dr smith knew the robot was dangerous and might give him away( in harris interview)
Agreed a less worrisome time, good laughs, and a great show. Just as there was one sergeant Shultz , or inspector Clueseau there will be only one Dr Smith !
Oh, Dr. Smith was absolutely flaming! Didn't realize it as a child, but June Lockhart confirmed it at a LIS appearance once. But love him of course! My favorite insult to the robot was, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME IN THAT FASHION, YOU FRIGHTFUL FRACTIOUS FRUMP!!!
This is great and to watch it in color, when I watched it, it was in glorious black and white, still it was entertaining and full of imagination thankyou for showing.
I was watching a documentary on UA-cam that featured Jonathan Harris talking about the robot and Harris said when he went to bed, he come up with the different insults to say. I believe it. 😂. One insult I remember is him calling the robot a kackling Cracker Barrel 😂🤣 I think that’s what he called the robot. Ya know, I didn’t like the dr smith in the 1998 movie Lost in Space. Hearing Jonathan Harris say “the pain, the pain” was more convincing than hearing that other actor say it.
@@lisasmith8554 oh I know. I STILL remember insults like “bubble headed booby” and “cackling Cracker Barrel!” 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 and when smith said them he was SO GOOD at it. The character who played smith in the movie DID NOT have Jonathan’s personality. The other insult that Jonathan said to the robot was “you better mind your manners if you want to keep your friends”
I heard that Jonathan Harris kept a notepad on his nightstand, and whenever he thought of a good alliterative insult (usually around bedtime) he would write it down for use later on the show.
Yep! Dat poor robot. And the robot was usually the one proved right during the argument 😉🤖
Harris said he actually lost sleep because he would lay there at night thinking of additional insults to use towards the robot.
Heard the same & it was great slapstick-like comedy.
@@strmchsr63
DAT Digital Audio Tape, the type of tapes used by their Robot's computers.
Heard the same, I think that was true
Jonathan was one of the greatest actors in tv history. Rest in peace Jonathan 🙏
He was the best.
🙏🏾
No offence to Gary Oldman or Parker Posey, who are both fine actors, but Jonathan Harris is the best version of Dr. Smith.
nobody can remake this show. waste of time!
Completely agree
They were awful as Doctor Smith, especially on WOKE in Space.
No. Replacement.
I thought Parker Pose was fantastic. Obviously a different approach, but in terms of being weaselly and conniving, she was perfect.
Jonathan was an Absolute Genius....Unbelievably Hysterical. !!!! Loved Him....

I wish a broadcast channel would run this at some time but mostly they run garbage.
By the time the show reached the second season, the stars were Dr. Smith and the Robot.
Don't forget about Will. 🛸
Most of the dialogue was Smith & Will.
He was absolutely hilarious! An extremely talented actor!
We loved Dr Smith! One of the great TV characters of the 1960s. "Ferrous Frankenstein" Priceless!
Lugubrious laggard was my favorite insult. Another great example of using advanced vocabulary. Something no longer available on free TV these days.
I liked "you incompetent idiot". personally.
Closest would have to be Dennis Miller. The things he would say as insults would cause me to go unconscious with laughter!!!😂😂😂
One of the best comedy teams of my generation ❤
Great compilation! Hilarious how Smith could have so much contempt for the robot. LOL
Smith was just jealous of the robot. Why I don’t know but I I know that the robot won every argument.👍😁
@@mikelongo5062 as Harris said of the robot: “he was my alter ego, rather it was me, I was talking to that side of myself”.
"cackling canister!"

A master class of insults!
The alliterative sneaky Smith, snivelling Smith, selfish Smith, scaredy Smith! 😅

You forgot my Favorite: He once called the Robot, ( who was wearing a toga, at the time, ) a ‘misshapen mummy! ) I still laugh, when I remember it.
The best time of life back then. 😢. Sure do miss them days 😢
"You lilly-livered, lead-lined lummox!
"You dippity dunce" lol
"You quivering quintessence of fear"
0:39
"If you wish to be warm, Dr. Smith, come into my arms"
"I'd rather DIE"
AHHAHSHAHSHASHASHAHSHAHA NAH BUT WHY IS THIS SO FUNNY TO ME
I laughed and had tears in my eyes!

Oh yes!

もう、60何年も前のTV映画だよ。懐かしい。ありがとう
"You lilly-livered lead-lined lummox."
Great thing I read is that the robot was actually Dr. Smiths true ego - one that he tried to distance himself from by way of the insults...
I was nearly in tears with laughter watching this!
As a 6 year old in 1987 all I remember is dr smith saying “never fear Zachary smith is here”
"Oh Dear The Flame The Flame Of it all!!" 😂
"You sanctimonious scatterbrain!"
"Silly sausage" - oh my
i never knew the reason smith insulted him was to keep him "down" because dr smith knew the robot was dangerous and might give him away( in harris interview)

Wonderful! I can watch that trio a million times!
I was hoping to find an LIS compilation like this on YT. Laughed the entire clip! 🤣🤣🤣
Dr. Smith was always my favorite on the show.
Billy Mumi said that Johnathan Harris often went off script ablibing the insults on the robot.
One of my favorite shows as a little girl ..... 💕💖💔💓💘
At least the robot was smart enough to not want to find doctor smith to avoid being insulted
That man has enriched my life beyond measure lmao!!! Great video!!!!!
Happy childhood memories.
You Tin Plated snitch ...❤ !
There will always be only one unique Dr Smith, and that is Jonathan Harris.
Did I imagine "you bituminous bucket of bolts"?
Amorphous aluminum antique.
Ferrous Frankenstein lol!! Almost as good as Rusty Rasputin
Tin plated traitor was worthy also
“Primitive pile of pistons”
I used Love Lost in Space when A kid And laughed so much when Dr Smith insults the robot
snith had impressive vocabulary.
Be gone, you rolly-polly rowdy!
You must hand it to Dr. Smith, he'd deliver a line like "Pass the salt," in the same exclamatory MFA style of classical acting.
Lost In Space became so much about them and Will Robinson in Season 2.
Did I hear, "You contemptuous bucket of bolts"?
“Tin plated Snitch.”
What? Did the robot tell the family what he saw Dr. Smith doing with the boys trousers? “Oh dear!” Lmaooo
"Danger! Danger! Will Robinson!" lol
Robot got his digs in too.
This brings back so many amazing memories!!
Oh the pain! The Pain of it All🔥🔥🔥
Babbling Birdbrain!!! 😂👍❤️
I was so young. Reruns at night in the early 70s of Lost in Space, Land of the Giants and the Twilight Zone.
Wouldn’t it be great if the Robot turned around one day and told Smith to F off!
Back on earth, Dr. Smith had a sideline business. He smuggled pilfered paintings from the Louvre.
1:45 "Silence you Cackling Canister."🏺
He makes the Grinch look like a teletubby
Two funnymen on tv in the 60s dick York and Jonathan Harris
Awesome Collection of insults

My favorite insult to the robot was, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME IN THAT FASHION, YOU FRIGHTFUL FRACTIOUS FRUMP!!!
Presumptuous Popinjay
THAT was my favorite!
Nickel plated nincompoop 😂

Only the first season was in black & white ..
Hardware Hyena! 😂
almost no repeat insults--he was good. Most repeated is Bubble headed booby
I recall the continous usage of the insult... "You Ninny!" 😂
It still amazes me how spot on Billy West's impression of Jonathan Harris is.
Just about every insult! Brilliant!
I think Dr Smith and Frank Burns on M*A*S*H were cut out of the same cloth 😆
Tin plated hyena and Jabbering Judas 😂😂😂😂
Had a good laugh when I read the title and saw that the video was 13 minutes long.
That was a blast from the past!
Oh, the pain.
Good one!
No one, ever: "Hey you know who this reminds me of? Parker fucking Posey"
It would have been better if the robot came back with a few: “Stick it you Babbling Bug-chaser!” Or: “Drop dead you Malingering Mo!”
'You pusillanimous pipsqueak!" 🤓
Leaky umbrella can be taped over leaky part or sewed up depending on how it was made. Also it would still block some rain just not as much.
"YOU BOBBLE -HEADED BOOBY ! "
I like that scene where the 🤖 takes Dr. Smith by the arm, saying, "which counts you out," implying he isn't human 😆 😆 😆.
Brilliant - loved it - don't make them like this anymore
Ferrus Frankenstein is the best
Lead lined lothario was hurled at the robot when it fell in love w/a fem bot😂
Dr Smith had fresh clothes for being a castaway on the Jupiter 2

It would have been awesome if the Robot zapped Dr Smith! ... even robots can take so much! 🤖
Often wondered the robot wouldn't give back the insults in spades. Dr Smith...you mortal mental misfit.
Fantastic.
Dippity Dunce. 😂
Adle pated Armor bearer was my favorite insult used by Dr Smith towards the robot.
Goodness this is amazing.
Couldn't Dr. Smith serve at least one dinner or dole out the portions? Or is he allergic to aprons the he-man that he is
