  • Del programa de la BBC "The Old Grey Whistle", en 1975 dos temas del primer álbum solista de Chris Squire, "Hold Out Your Hand" y "You By My Side". Presten atención al arreglo de cuerdas y metales al final y, sobre todo, las campanas tubulares. Qué tiempos!

its definitely between bruford and squire solo projects. But both were a bit different, Squire went to english progressive rock and the bruford solo albums touch on jazz fusion.

I always hope someone who went on the 1978 Cross country trip from Flushing, Queens would see this comment. Someone had the cassette. I think his name was Jeff. I kept trying to record it in a quiet place. Using a microphone of another cassette recorder. I had already been in love with Yes for year's by then, (15 years old) - but didn't realize Chris had a solo album. Around the first time I saw Yes live at Nassau Coliseum after Rick left, and Moraz jumped in. It was the Relayer tour. I loved Chris Squire so much. He touched my heart deeply. He's gone a few years now. Keith Emerson, and Greg Lake...all gone. I'm not afraid to die. I believe I will be at an eternal concert....watching all my hero's. And hugging my Dad.

Chris Squire was a choir boy (all 6'6" of him) and had an incredible sense of harmony. No innovated the bass, he played it as a guitar and I loved his lines. He never lost his musicianship. Fish out of Water is such an undersung album, and perfect one at that. When I read the obit this morning I listened to this on the bus this morning and I shed tears. RIP, Mr. Squire, I hope you join the choir in the afterlife, your sense of harmony and good tenor voice will be much appreciated. Just try to get a good playing of The Fish in there somewhere. Squire, Moraz and Bruford. Keyboard, Bass, Drum trio I would take over ELP any day. That's how I've always seen this record. I wish Squire had followed it up. To the bassists out there, go through these songs and learn them. Beautifully crafted basslines that are somewhat difficult to play even for the accomplished player. I'm 50 and I'm twice the player I was in my twenties. But Squire was in his twenties when he recorded Hold out YourHand, Lucky Seven etc..Even You by my side is difficult in that he switches up the scales each time he plays. He is my single favorite musician. So sorry he missed being abducted in to the RnR Hall of Fame. He waited so long and deserved much better.

I learned the whole of this album when I picked up the bass. It was a steep learning curve but was most def worth it in the end. If you can get comfortable with CS bass lines you're pretty much styling from the on - everything seems so simple afterwards. Had this album in high school, but learned to love it a few years later at college. My roommate discovered it in my collection and wore it out daily.

Chris Squire is I guess the most unappreciated Greatest bass player.. Just LISTEN/WATCH This!!!!!!!!!!.. And as someone else said that majestic look!!! He has always had that!!!.. Had the great fortune of seeing YES live a few times in Pittsburgh at the now.. sadly.. demolished Civic Arena :(

Were you there in the round when the guy jumbled onstage ti high Jon Anderson? At the time I didn't know much about Chris Squire but I remember the crazy tall guy in a stripped outfit. Watched him the entire time. I just recently started listening to Yes again and think what a dope Ive been for missing this great music. Turned my 28 yr. Old daughter on to them

Outstanding and severely underrated piece of music. Combines many influences and comes out 100% original. And so many nuggets of gold embedded in the bass line.

First I've ever heard this masterpiece. I love this!!! Never took the time to explore the genius of Chris Squire. I've always been partial to the timbre of his voice blend with Jon Anderson's. This is just so happy and melodic and rhythmically entrancing. Muchísimas gracias por haber tomado el tiempo. Más gente podrán descubrir la magia de este basista cantador increíble.
