Afithos in the evening

Afithos is probably the first place I visited in Greece almost 17 years ago, maybe because it is the first village near the hotel where we stayed.
Afithos is a town located in the northeast of the Kassandra peninsula, Halkidiki, 81 km from Thessaloniki and 41 km from the capital Poligiros.
Afitos = Afithis = "without green" is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in the Kassandra peninsula, having a long history, its fleet took part in the Persian wars. Built on a cliff more than 50 m high, it offers a wonderful view of Toroneos gulf and suggests the image of a photogenic village on an Aegean island. Afitos is a picturesque village, full of cobbled streets, traditional houses built of stone and limestone and many colorful flowers. A bunch of fat puppies and kittens run through the streets of the village. In Afithos you can find a multitude of excellent taverns and bars (some with great views) and taste delicious traditional recipes and drinks.
Because of its fame, many visitors from other resorts come here every evening, I have never seen it so crowded as at the end of August 2023, I think there were more than 2000 visitors rushing through the narrow streets.
