We have known for the longest time that The Foretellers were named after the Latin translations for the 7 deadly sins. But did we ever stop to consider where those names come from in the world of Kingdom Hearts? Could they be named after all the Darkness's? Let me know your thoughts!
I don’t think Luxu is the traitor because Master of Master said he is because of this line also for the master of masters: “The truth isn’t what you hear but see with your eyes. The answer is in Union x story. We HEAR ACCUSATIONS. But we SAW Ava Doubting the master of masters. We Also saw Ava activity questioning things. We Saw AVA MISUNDERSTAND THE MISSION. AND WE SAW AVA DO THE FIRST STRIKE ON LUXU WHICH CAUSE THE BELL TO TOIL AND THE WAR TO BEGIN. And since we ALSO SAW THE PAGE: the traitor will misinterpreted the truth and with a single strike the bell will toil and the war will begin. THAT MEANS AVA IS THE TRUE TRAITOR!
Finally someone else who has see the true light of the clues. Do you know how long I been trying to point out the clues? Ever since it was revealed that Ava struck Luxu first causing the war.
My Theory is the Foretellers left and made new worlds their homes, Ira made Twilight Town. Gula made Radiant Garden. Aced Made Traverse town. Ava made Land of departure/oblivion castle. Invi made a world to we've yet to see. All those worlds are connected to Daybreak town style or have the similar castles with Datascapes in their basements. Ephemper made Scala Ed calum.. What ya think?
I saw someone who had made a comment in this vein on Everglow's new timeline. He proposed that the sin associated with the foreteller, was the one most contradicting their personality. Darkness seeks to make a vessel out of those with strong hearts, so would the strongest Darknesses try to target those with the greatest opposition to the individual Darkness? Greater the light, greater the shadow.
It is purely an educated guess, but one of the most famous accounts of biblical sins comes from the Divine Comedy. Many people know about Inferno, which details some of the sins, but it also specifically attributes other sins to other rings of hell. The second portion of the comedy, Purgatorio, focuses on the set of seven sins that most are familiar with, but when you add in those extra sins from the preceding Inferno, you get a total of 12 sins. The Seven Deadly Sins: Lust-Luxuria Gluttony-Gula Greed-Avaritia Sloth-Acedia (Sloth and Acedia are not actually two separate sins in the original Latin, this distinction came about from later translations and was dropped before modern times.) Wrath-Ira Envy-Invidia Pride-Superbia The Five Additional Sins from Dante's Inferno: Limbo-Limbus (which represents the original sin, the innate darkness in all human beings since Eve ate the apple of knowledge.) Heresy-Haeresis Violence-Violentia Fraud-Fraudatio Treachery-Perfidia It is important to remember that those five sins are listed in Dante's Inferno alongside Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, in addition to their listings as the seven deadly sins in Dante's Purgatorio, so they form somewhat of a complete whole. If you add the two together, you get 12, which is one short of the 13 True Darknesses, though as pointed out in the video, Vanity is also a specific subtype of the Seven Deadly sins, and one that is already present in the series through Vanitas, named after the Latin translation of the term, as well as one of the few likely suspects for the Original 13 Darknesses that is not from the X saga. So, just to recap, if I had to make any bet on the names of the 13 Darknesses, it would be derivative names from the 13 Terms outlined below: Luxuria (Luxu) Gula (Gula, obviously) Avaritia (Ava) Acedia (Aced) Ira (Ira, simply) Invidia (Invi) Superbia Limbus (Given the special nature of Limbo as the original sin, this darkness would be special, my best bet being either the one inside of the Master of Masters, the leader of the Original 13 Darknesses, or maybe both) Haeresis Violentia Fraudatio Perfidia Vanitas (Vanitas, of course)
And if the MoM doesn't end up being pride/having the pride Darkness inside him, then Pride could be the most powerful Darkness inside the Black Box (XSuper)
I like to think that Luxu’s real name is just some basic ass shit like Brian, which is why he has a preference for using people with B, R, A, I in their names as vessels lol
I believe The Master is performing sigil magic with his Script . Think of the recusant sigil. He is using his Books and Games to make people act in way that manifests his Script on the ground. So his Books are alive. And when the Master "writes" you as a Darkness vessel he leads you to be a Darkness vessel. That's your character now. And True Darkness is pleased with that, and goes along with the "Magic Words".
I personally go with Vanity (due to Vanitas), Fear, Despair, Vengeance(I liked your choice of words)/Fury(which is based off one of the names of the reapers from dark road), Pleasure, and maybe Curiosity. It was hard to think of a sixth one, but I based them off human emotions that we’ve seen throughout the series so far plus what we as humans feel as well. I do believe they’re going to be tied to the 7 deadly sins in the name scheming, just as you mentioned, just with a different word and change in meaning. I also tried to fill all spots but Ava’s greed, as for some reason I feel that that name scheme would be left out just like Ava has been.
Do we really need names for the other darknesses? What i mean is that in UX was stated that there were 13 original darknesses but actully only 7 of them matters cause they are the strongest. So 7 names are just right enough for them and that would also make the theory more plausible
Another AWESOME theory!!! Hope you had a GREAT Christmas! Have an AMAZING final couple of days of this year and may 2023 be another huge Kingdom Hearts (News) Year!!
If the 4 that were trapped in the tunnels remain trapped, then perhaps they won't be given names, uh, ok so there's the 7 in the 6 foretellers and the MoM, there's the 4 in the tunnels, there's Vanitas, and then there's the one more which... uh, what happened to that one? Did it just get stuck when the real daybreak town was destroyed, or did it escape somewhere? Well, if it escaped, then if the ones in the foretellers get names associated with those sins, then there's only one extra one lacking a name, well... except that the MoM hasn't been clearly given a name associated with one of the 7 deadly sins. There's of course the idea that he would be associated with pride, but like, did he actually give himself such a name? It isn't like they seemed to call him by that name, as they always just called him "Master" (when on-camera anyway).
There are more than 7 deadly sins in history, a long time ago there was also a sin of melancholy or depression... I bet there could be 13 without using variations. Like... Why is Xehanort named as such? We know someone thought he was the child of destiny and was taken after birth, but why "Xehanort", that's literally "No Heart" with the recusant's sigil, and we know Xehanort knows that since he did it too with everyone in the organization Something similar to "No heart" or "Heartless" that fits Xehanort's description is "Improbus" which means "heartless", "wicked", "dishonest", "bad" and "shameless"... for a heavily empathetic man, xehanort can be ruthless and as such his name "no heart" fits If I'm right with this, we can see this "Improbus" darkness working on the organization, Xemnas makes everyone believe and have the belief that they have no hearts, so no feelings, so no emotions or empathy, cultivating darkness so Xehanort could do what he did with Terra Speaking of Terra, what would you say was the behaviour that lead to him falling to darkness? What about Riku? I think It's some kind of loneliness or foolishness since both of them were made believe (fooled to believe) that they were alone, that their loved ones didn't love them ("Master Eraqus would never make you master" "Aqua is searching for you because she's the master lapdog not because she cares about you" "Sora replaced you with new friends, he isn't searching for you, he's just having fun" "Why would your friends want you back? They know what you did") Anxiety? Paranoia? Fear? "I'm not afraid of the Darkness" "You gotta just remember to be brave, know that the darkness is there and don't give in" "I have accepted it" It could also be something akin to grudges or resentment, since Xehanort used himself as Hate Symbol for Terra to succumb to darkness and Maleficent made Riku hate Sora and then he hated Himself... Riku Replica also hated himself for being a fake (or could also fear even more since being a fake means nothing is real) So... Vanitas - Vanity (Always bragging and getting cocky) Aced - Irresponsibility (Acting without concern of doing what he was tasked to do) Invi - Envy (The kind that doesn't want others to have more) Ira - Wrath (The kind that would not accept fate and have a tantrum and his reason clouded) Gula - Gluttony (---I don't get this one---) Ava - Greed (She's not settling with her role and wants more Luxu - Self-Indulgency ("characterized by doing or tending to do exactly what one wants, especially when this involves pleasure or idleness." Which is what Luxu did the most) Xehanort (And the organization XIII) - Ruthlessness (He'll stop at nothing for his goal and doesn't care of the wellbeing of others) That's 8 With Terra and Riku being Anxiety/Fear That would make 9 And Melancholy/Depression being Aqua with 10 or what she herself said... Misery and Despair We also see Baldr having Guilt/Self-hatred after his Impatience made her sister get killed saving him so that's 11 What could 12 and 13 be? EDIT: I was thinking about it and, didn't sora fall to darkness too? But I can't figure out what made him fall... so I was watching KH3 gameplay and suddendly Sora took "Rage Form" and of course it was rage, for him and terra there was Rage and in their fights against their foes, they fell... Terra Raged against Xehanort for Hurting his Friends... Sora Raged against Xemnas for Decieving the Organization. (Earlier today it also clicked in me that Sora was part of Ventus after his heart broke, and Terra bequeathed ventus with his wooden Keyblade so if Terra bequeathed both Riku and Sora, having them fall to Fear and Rage respectively is kinda poetic, isn't?) So I'll settle for Fear, Despair, Rage and Self-Hatred for 9, 10, 11 and 12 I don't know about the thirteenth but If I had to make a Wild guess, I guess "needing and wanting to control everything and everyone" could be another sin, and that would fit the master of masters AND his "old friend", the one true darkness that manipulated everyone to do it's bidding (Maleficent was one)... It's the one who uses others for their own gain and wants power to control everything. Manipulative... Controlling... that would be 13... and that fits Xehanort even more. All his quest is to gain control over the world. The master of masters, another manipulative man, said and tempted xehanort: "If you possess great power, Darkness can't control you, in fact you'll be controlling the darkness instead" I Still think Ruthlessness is one of the darknesses since that's what made the organization's "emptiness" make most of them fall.
I do think that this theory could work. I very much liked your point of the use of "case of...". That just makes sense in a way that I am not sure that I can explain. That said I am really not sure that MoM's plan actually worked. Seven of the Darknesses do seem to be missing however I have never been convinced that either MoM or Luxu took one into themselves which also makes me doubt the other foretellers. It is true that I might just be overthinking it though and that the seven missing Darknesses are right where MoM says they are. I also wonder about the Darkness that Luxu fought at the end of UX. I have no idea what happened to it, or why it has been missing for so long. I very much doubt that Luxu was able to kill it. Even if MoM was unable to actually do this goal which I do think is possible. I do think that naming the foretellers the names of the Darkness does make a lot of sense. Though MoM knowing them all by name does kind of make me wonder how close he was to them before they cased off their form.
Another thing vanitas is connected to pride which is the master of master. If you even take a look at master of master zipper it really looks like an unverse symbol
This has been my conclusion as well since UX ended. Vanitas is an easy one. Like pride had vainglory, sloth (acedia) had tristitia- sorrow, despondency, melancholy. "Melancholia" was seen as the cause of acedia. This degree of sadness was linked to social withdrawal, self-isolation, and suicide, all of which were deemed sinful because they "refused" to go out and do God's work. There're also the 6 eternal or unforgivable sins against God (aka blasphemy against the Holy Spirit/Ghost). One was envy and another one didn't have a single, specific word, so fuck them. - despair (couldn't find its proper Latin word) Belief that one's own malice is greater than Divine Goodness - praesumptio --> presumption Wanting glory without merits or pardon without repentance - impoenitentia --> impenitence Refusal to repent - obstinatio --> obstinancy Basically stubbornness I think that covers all 13. Now we wait.
I just hope Nomura keeps it simple. Have their true names be the corresponding 7 Heavenly Virtues. I wonder which trait, Pride or Humility, MoM refers to himself as. 🤔
Like the theory a lot. Re the phrase "case of" though, I believe that's a Japanese thing. The phrase "In my case" is used a lot in Japanese media, and you also see the format of "Case of [character]" in some of the Final Fantasy canon (in Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile, for example). TBH I think your theory is excellent without this bit though, so it's not that important; just a little thing that niggled me.

Limbo-Limbus (which represents the original sin, the innate darkness in all human beings since Eve ate the apple of knowledge.)
Heresy-Haeresis
Violence-Violentia
Fraud-Fraudatio
Treachery-Perfidia
It is important to remember that those five sins are listed in Dante's Inferno alongside Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, in addition to their listings as the seven deadly sins in Dante's Purgatorio, so they form somewhat of a complete whole. the pride sin in latin is Superbia. the box have writings on it saying "Xsuper".
The case of point hit me hard .

YES!
For All We Know The Fortellers Actual Names Could Be James, Lucy, Ezra, Sally, Nate, And Simon.
I like to think that Luxu’s real name is just some basic ass shit like Brian, which is why he has a preference for using people with B, R, A, I in their names as vessels lol
@@NightSkyNyx It feels like is a play on "Brain" as in Intelligent, Wise Light. An disciple (emanation?) of The Master. Lux U ( Light U)
Now this sounds interesting 🤔.
