Great video, I just broke my stupid blinker lever today and I don’t think this gorilla glue is gonna hold, I’m happy to hear that it fixed when you turn it shut off automatically, because I have to manually turn the blinkers off.
I just swapped out my turn signal lever with a new one on my 08 cobalt. Because it wouldn't click off when I make a turn. Great video man thanks for the help I smashed that like button 👍
You're a lifesaver. I'm a 35yo female. Followed these steps including buying the same part on Amazon. It's fixed and everything is put back together. Thanks so much!
Great info - this is why I love old vehicles, metal > plastic for sure... But the Cobalts sure are nice driving little cars, so it's nice to have working well! Keep on keepin' on dude.
Thanks for this video, worked like a charm. 20 minutes start to finish, struggled removing the gauge cowling, had to leave it sitting on the wheel after removing.
Just did this on my '07 cobalt. Very helpful! Only thing I wish had been mentioned is the small metal washer-like pieces that have to be taken off after the screws behind the side trim. I just broke them off.. also, my new piece didn't 'click' in when i inserted it. I went ahead anyways.
Nice video. After watching your vid, I replaced the blinker in a 2009 Chevy Cobalt. Looked just like your's and the replacement went just as you described. Thanks!!!
Thank you but I still had to remove the other 2 screws under the steering wheel to make room to get to the switch. I also did break one of the clasps from the panel near the radio, but was able to bend it back into shape with my needle nose pliers. Thank you!
Thank you for the video. You just saved me probably close to $200 by me doing it myself. I got mine through Amazon for $31. Now my car will pass inspection.
The video is pretty straightforward as described. HOWEVER, he failed to show that there are two small clips that must be removed. I broke one of the pins off removing them but it does not affect the reassembly or function. I also really had to do some prying and twisting to get the gage cover out. It does not want to come out easily nor does it want to go back in easily. What appeared to take him maybe 20 minutes took me nearly an hour.
Vyron Bearden I also had a bit of trouble getting the gauge cover off, even with the steering wheel in the lowest position. A bit of twisting and pulling got it done.
I replaced mine. If you remove all 3 bottom screws, the instrument cluster trim doesn’t need removing. Tilt the steering wheel fully down & the switch will come out. Reassembly needs a long screwdriver to pop that top part back in as I did mine. My key switch was a little snug, but loosened up after a few days.
Probably didnt help that I did this at night. But I managed to get the new one in. Couldn't get the trim around the speedometer out so I just had to reef on the switch until it popped out. Thanks
Thanks dude! I’ve had to open my window and then open the door from the outside for months because I was too lazy to figure out how to fix the handle! Used your video to finally solve my problems 👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing video, i did mine in 30 mins. Removing the side panel next to the switch was painful but otherwise everything else was easy. Thanks for the great tutorial !
Thanks for this video. I was able to do it without much trouble. I had the same problem with the clips, so I used my clip puller to slide them in the rest of the way. So, do I just leave the old one in the yard now?
Dont have to take the cluster bezel out or the bezel to the right of the wheel. Just tilt the wheel down, pop the top cover loose and tilt the side closest to the wheel, back towards cluster. Pop the left side cover off that has the dimmer on it (for clearance for the turn signal switch to come out), the one bolt on the bottom and you can get the switch in and out.
When I saw u take the old one and pan towards the yard I was like omg he's not gonna....and BOOM u just hucked it right out there with extreme prejudice. Lol. I seriously did laugh though. I would have done the same thing.
justin emrick from what I remember it is very similar I’m sure you still gotta take the steering column apart. But it should be about the same procedure.
Just a bit of info, AC Delco parts ARE the original parts for these cars. They're original equipment. That's why they're more expensive than pretty much any other brand. They are actually owned by GM, make all GM factory parts, and also offer aftermarket parts for non-GM vehicles. But their parts for GM vehicles are original equipment parts because they are the ones who originally made the parts.
If my turn signal works, but just doesn't turn off when the wheel straightens out, do I have to replace the whole thing or is there just a little piece that makes it turn back off?
A year after replacing mine the light switch stopped working, bought my second one direct from GM, I noticed this one fits a bit better, even though the one from amazon came in an ac delco bag I think it was a fake, i’ve come to realize amazon == fakes
bro, can you tell me how are conected the wires inside the switch headlights? I have 4 wires orange, brown, red and yellow. and 4 conections with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4. I need conect this.
Miguel Kraken I'm not sure I just bought the switch online and it just plugged right in. The new switch is all one piece and it just plugs right into the harness on the car.
I just finished swapping my turn signal switch using this video as the tutorial. I may suggest putting that turn signal switch part number in the video description. I was able to see the number, but having it in the video description would have been convenient.
A notched trim tool, a1/8” screwdriver, a 11/32” nutdriver, a long flatbladed screwdriver to put the top part back in if you don’t remove the cluster trim. Graphite for the keyswitch face if it’s tight after reassembly.
dude you don't need to take off any Trim off the dash to get the turn signal out. all you have to do is take the two screws out the bottom of the plastic trim on the steering wheel column and pop the top half lose and they both come off allowing you access to the switch
Hi Shane - I agree with you partially. There is no need to open the top 2 Philips screws and right side panels at all. I couldn’t take the old switch out by not removing the side assemblies on the left. I just removed the side small panel and was able to remove the old switch and insert the new. Putting the pieces back was very simple. Thanks for your inputs!
@@KyleLesmeister K. Doesn't mean there wasn't a step missing. You didn't talk about removing the little silver pieces below the bolts that keep the gauge hood secure.

I was able to get a "new" turn signal from the junk yard for only 17 dollars! Your tutorial made the process really easy, thank you!
Best one I seen so far

Crystal Gastineau you’re welcome! I’m glad the video helped you
Slayyyyy
After fixing my tv a month ago 😸 with a soldering gun, I was confident that I could fix this problem too. Thank you for the vid!
Omggggggggggg I did it all by myself, thanks to you! You are the Goat!!!! Thank you 🤗
Brown Brown you’re welcome! I’m glad I could help
After watching your video I ordered the new part from Amazon. Hate going down the road with signals flashing.
Great info - this is why I love old vehicles, metal > plastic for sure... But the Cobalts sure are nice driving little cars, so it's nice to have working well! Keep on keepin' on dude.
Great watch. Funny some guy tried to tell my GF. It cost close to 300 for a 30 buck part n elbow grease.
Thanks man. Snapped mine in half in my SS. Crap ass interior lol
Follow his instructions to a tee and was able to do it in 15 minutes, it took me more time to acquire the new part than replacing it
1 million thank yous
Sweet! To the point! Had it done in 15 minutes. - From a not a mechanically inclined viewer. Thank you.

I will do it on my '06 cobalt.
“It will feel like you’re going to break them but you wont.” Brother. You have no idea the insane ability i have to break shit easily. Lmao.
Thank you! Installed mine easily with your help. Thanks for cutting out the dead air time to keep it short!
Excellent video bro. I will fix my car has been broken for while.
Great! Thanks, I just used your video and replaced the turn signal switch in 5 minutes!
Excellent thank you greatly mine actually broke in the exact same place and way must be a cobalt thing, idk as this is my first one

Thank you, this helped a lot
Thanks so much for this video upload - extremely helpful, seriously.
Jessica Hernandez you’re welcome!
Good video, makes it look easy. Can't wait to fix my blinker switch on the Cobalt!
Thanks for the help man. My turn signals wont shut off after I turn anymore. Driving me nuts.
Happened to me. That’s why I had to replace it. The round ball part on mine cracked into.
You didnt need to do alot of that, but helpfull
Thank you for the video. You just saved me probably close to $200 by me doing it myself. I got mine through Amazon for $31. Now my car will pass inspection.
Going to do this next week on my 2010 Chevy cobalt. My blinker has been broken for a while now 😬

Is it the same way for the wiper lever. Just bought an 06 yesterday and both was broken

Still made in China. Way to go ac delco.
aftermarket parts are made on the exact same assembly line
Mine literally broke off so I know it's going to be a lot cheaper to do this myself, lol.
Our cobalt is a 2008 same body as the 2007
If my turn signal works, but just doesn't turn off when the wheel straightens out, do I have to replace the whole thing or is there just a little piece that makes it turn back off?
Mike Boehm you have to replace the whole thing like I did. That mechanism that turns off your signal is inside of the switch.
Same procedure for a 2005 Cobalt? Thanks in advance.
Ummm, you very well can break the two plastic pieces. I just did. It's very brittle plastic.
Yeah, if you try to take it off too far from the pins which are holding them...
sizematters i
If this was tik Tok tutorial it would destroy your car

My lever won't click back after turning and also doesn't make any clicking noise when the turn signal is on. Does this fix the clicking noise too?
Dan Newland yes, that is what was wrong with mine in the beginning, then it snapped later on.
bro, can you tell me how are conected the wires inside the switch headlights?

It’s always the shitty cheap General Motors my Pontiac turn signal broke cheap plastic go figure class of 2009
my 2010 wont make noise when i turn signal? any idea out there...
Its a problem with the left front speaker, if you have an after market stereo make sure you bought the correct wiring harness
What tools did you use?
A notched trim tool, a1/8” screwdriver, a 11/32” nutdriver, a long flatbladed screwdriver to put the top part back in if you don’t remove the cluster trim. Graphite for the keyswitch face if it’s tight after reassembly.
Thanks for letting me impress my girlfriend hahaha
It also replaces HHR., Saturn ION as they are all the same crappy cars.
😱 I think I am very dumb ! I could not understand the steps , seems like they were backwards at times , ! I figure it out I guess!
J CM it’s pretty simple. The hardest part was popping off the silver trim pieces. Maybe try watching the video again while you’re in your car.
dude you don't need to take off any Trim off the dash to get the turn signal out. all you have to do is take the two screws out the bottom of the plastic trim on the steering wheel column and pop the top half lose and they both come off allowing you access to the switch

Maybe you got lucky, these pieces do overlap though.
Well now, I like your plan even better if it'll save this dude with basically a broken spine my time and my pain ! Thanks.✌
Yeah you do i took that piece of trim out because the signal stick would not come out, it hits the trim.
AC Delco is GM OEM....
Be careful if you're only taking one bolt out the bottom you can brake the plastic ive learn from experience
Do you need to disconnect your battery before you replace the switch?
KJ Tha 5 1 not at all
No, the connection is a plastic tipped plug so no electrical issues to worry about
When I signal left mine goes left left left left right right left right left left right right right left right
Kelton Derkach thats normal, keeps everyone else on the road on their toes. They don’t know where you’re gonna go.

Dennis Schnobrich make sure you removed all the screws from the bottom of the column
