  • When it comes to using the shoulders to making a good “TURN” both back and through the ball - there are a lot of misconceptions out there. This short video explains HOW to use the shoulders EFFECTIVELY.
The vast majority of golfers struggle with EARLY EXTENSION - Meaning they move their pelvis towards the ball at impact! This causes a vast array of misses and can be very frustrating! IF you maintain the “PITCH” in your shoulders you can eliminate that problem!
So many golfers are fixated on trying to TURN their HIPS through the ball thinking that this is the way to stop EE. When it fact it only makes matters worse! By steepening your shoulder plane and becoming more aware of HOW the SHOULDERS move in the golf swing it’s virtually impossible to lose the DEPTH in your pelvis!
Subscribe, like, and share the video if you think a friend could find it helpful! If you would like me to help you FIX your EARLY EXTENSION then contact me for an online lesson!! Let's get you swinging better TODAY!!

Came up with "similar* on my own recently. My "feel" is that my shoulders are rotating totally vertically - Ferris wheel-like. They're obviously not, but that "feel" has taken me to new places. Wondered if that might have *also* "fixed" my ugly EE. DTL video says only to a degree, but my FTT and Path numbers - as well as ball flight - say "good enough".🙂 Mevo+ with PP has been wonderful for helping me make this kind of progress. BTW, the feel of having the bill of my cap pointing more "down" also helps. None of the chairs and beach balls stuff for the hips position helped even in the slightest, and felt extremely unnatural.

Those are some great observations!! Very happy to hear that you’ve made progress and fixed your EE! EE will influence both path and club face so it’s extremely important to reduce or eliminate it!! Thanks for watching! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

@@AndrewEmeryGolf Thank you! Have seen from a couple of sources now that I might get away with some EE - *and* my inability to extend/dorsoflex my right wrist (due to surgery complications) via an extra strong grip, allowing me to get away with my "necessarily" cupped left wrist, all the way down to just before contact. Seems to make it so that "unhinging" that cupped left wrist with a "snap" into maximum ulnar deviation (apparently sometime between P6 and P7, based on DTL video) can take care of *two* left wrist planes at contact(squaring the club face), as well as maximize my club head speed. Just today (successfully) added in the swing thought of snapping it "up the front" of my Ferris wheel". 🙂
Interestingly, this reminds me a *lot* of what the wrist does on a tennis serve. Many used to argue that there is no "flexing" the wrist in that stroke. My view has been that it most definitely goes from "extended" up to "flat", but at contact with the ball (or somewhere around that time) that notion is converted to the "pronation" plane. I never thought about before until just now, but I'm sure it also snaps from radial to ulnar deviation - just like what I seem to be getting away with in my golf swing. Now I'm thinking that maybe the argument I've seen about whether one "rolls the wrists" through contact might just come down to the "sudden unhinging" being converted into *both* extension and (right arm) pronation. Does that Hack Motion gadget cover all three planes?
It won't hurt my feelings a bit if you ignore or even delete this comment. I'm used to it. 🙂

Hack motion measure all three wrist movements although I would encourage you to stay out of the weeds! I think you have a solid grasp on what you need to do to improve but if you need some coaching I’m happy to help. Just email me through my website.

@@AndrewEmeryGolf You are very kind. Guess I've also concluded that the Hack Motion numbers are beyond where I want to invest my hobby time. Hard enough coming up with my fun little spreadsheet for FTT, Path, and the 9 ball flights with the "new rules". 🙂 Some seriously counterintuitive stuff in them weeds, too.

Took me over 20 years to find out I was early extending , went to several different instructors over the years not one of them told me I was early extending. Then I came across a Milo lines video on YT that not only helped me to stop humping the goat but stopped my lower back pain as well. I save my $$ now and watch YT vids like these. I will always be indebted to Milo though.

I try doing this but my body says no because I am going to hit the ground six inches behind the ball , so I early extend to prevent this , it isn’t the fact that I can’t get into those shapes , it’s just I don’t know how to stay over the ball at the point of contact without hitting the ground first, like a awfull lot of amateurs the only way I can hit the ball without chunking it is to be fully extended at impact

I think it’s highly likely that your swing is too steep!! It could also be too flat but that’s less likely. If your AOA is too vertical then you don’t have ‘permission’ to remain in your posture. If you can get on plane you’ll have a green light to fix your EE!! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻
