  • Five people were killed and at least three others were hurt in multiple shootings across Charlotte Monday evening and into Tuesday.
"Our units and detectives are tirelessly investigating all these incidents and are leaving no stone unturned," Tonya Arrington, with CMPD, said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to two deadly shootings late Monday night, including one on Parker Drive near Remount Road around 9 p.m. When officers arrived, they learned that four people had been shot. One of the victims, later identified as 29-year-old Lamarcus Jackson, died at the hospital and three others, including a 17-year-old, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. CMPD believes this shooting was in connection to a drug transaction between people who knew one another.
A few hours later, CMPD responded to another deadly shooting. This incident happened along Statesville Avenue, near Jeff Adams Drive, a little after 1 a.m. The victim, 58-year-old Mustaffa Muhammad, was shot and killed inside a Chevrolet Equinox. He'd been shot in the abdomen, police said. "We believe this shooting is linked to several other shootings in a short time frame," CMPD said.
After WCNC Charlotte reached out to CMPD for more details, the department said between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m., there were four other shootings detectives believe are connected in north Charlotte. One happened when a bicyclist was shot at but not injured near Lasalle Street and Newland Road. A second happened when gunfire struck a driver's vehicle near Interstate 77 and LaSalle Street. A third incident was across the block in the 2100 block of Catherine Simmons Avenue where a group of people was shot at. A person inside a home near that group was hit by a bullet but has non-life-threatening injuries. Lastly, another bicyclist was shot in the 100 block of Hillary Circle and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
