    Thanks for breaking it down, been going back and forth between the two. I decided on type 3 cause I like to use smash for its movement.

    great vid! I've been looking forward to your vids about PA customization ever since they released, so I'm glad to see these getting released.
    I chose type 2 on a whim just because I am a Lavis Canon Enjoyer lol, but I noticed it *felt* better when playing, so it's good to see some evidence that it actually can perform better, and that I'm not throwing.

    Nice breakdown
    Although I gotta add some caveats on Type 2:
    1) The SS -> counter elemental pursuit gauge increase only works on "active enemies" to make the counter happens, meaning on things like dummy targets, enemies who rarely attack and bosses on Break/downed status, that -20% PA effect on Type 2 feels more apparent.
    2) While it allows you to pull WA quickly and initiate a counter, shockwave projectile moves at roughly the same speed as your own move speed when using regular or Type 3, meaning you still need to keep the distance in mind in order to optimize dps.
    3) Speaking of shockwave, it has a tad longer range than it seems. The shockwave may still hit the target even if the animation has been fully dissipated in a fraction of second.
    4) When uncharged, Type 2 can still give roughly the same if not a bit less elemental pursuit than Type 3 but more than regular as long as it's followed by a counter (going back to point 1)
    5) Might be because of my muscle memory but with Type 2, your only chase mechanic is via charged tech. Might be not ideal in some situations but then again Type 3 has its problem as well (cannot be cancelled once it's launched, may put yourself in worse position).
    Also, the attack speed bonus of Type 2 seems like only applies on uncharged version. It still has the same charge time like Type 3 and regular, at least that's what I felt after giving it a try on standing quests.
    All in all, Type 2 promotes more aggressive playstyle despite it's being marketed as safer mod option while Type 3 gives you an extra while retaining signature, albeit a tad slower, Techter playstyle.

      1. The SS> Counter works on any attack or attack pattern you know is coming. For example, against MDF Aegis you can pre-cast charged shockwave as its claws are coming towards you and then counter. The range of the shockwave will hit similar to pre-cast charged grants. While active enemies are easier its not off the table for slower enemies, and in those situations I would argue regular Swift might not be doing much of anything. Type-2 fills the void regular swift struggles with. Because hit stop is no longer a factor the difference building pursuit at 0 meter is roughly a 10 frame difference in favor of Type-3;106 frame type-2 vs 130 frame type-3. So yes in there will be cases where type-3 will edge out a pursuit where type-2 may not, but its not as big of a gap as one might think, especially when type-2 adds more damage opportunities outside of downs. Not to mention excessive down accumulation from element pursuit can (and likely will) mess with down timings where you might not have the resources readily available. Element pursuit skirts that line of damage being counterproductive due to element down.
      2. Yes, but I would say this is the case for any attack as the manipulation of space controls where in time the enemy will hit you. Regular swift smash has the same issue as there is an optimal range that reduces the liability of its movement. Fortunately Type-2 has not hit stun so its a bit lenient on position than it would otherwise, given the shockwave does not directly impede you on hit.
      3. If you go into TPS mode you can extend it further, and adds clarity to what you are seeing when the wave dissipates.
      The attack speed doesn't effect the charge animation, but compensates for that by heavily reducing the attack animation of the charged version. So its roughly a 20% increase in speed when you compare uncharge/charge against their counterpart. The attack speed % between charge and uncharge are not equal.

      Good points.
      Type 2 really messes up the timing for those who've been used to regular/Type 3 which I admit I do have in my first runs. In DFA I still struggle with the timing when the claw goes down because Type 2 still shares the same charge time with Type 3 and regular; I feel the timing for pulling charged SS -> counter is much tighter than it should be. Still manageable, but it leaves much less room for errors i.e. charging for too long or too late.
      In this case, I often ended up releasing uncharged SS then parrying the attack.
      Didn't know it'll go further in TPS mode but I'll give it a try sometime later.
      I can see the prospects and possible combos with it but it seems like I still need to get used to Type 2's gimmicks first lol

    With type 2 i have just way to much trouble generating enough pp, especially since i don't home in on enemys that often move positions chaining some normal attacks in to restore pp is to difficult for me.

    When I first looked at the mods I thought all Type 3 are just "Do what the skill already does but more" modifyers. Those will naturally be good at first but once people figure out specifics to other Types that should change like this case. Type 3 is for when you want to keep playing like you currently do, Type 2 is for finding new rythms and inches to squeeze more DPS through.
    Does attack speed effect recovery frames in this game? Because being able so counter so shortly after casting Charged Swift Smash is something I wasn't aware of.

      Attack speed is like changing the numbers in the system without actually adjusting the system to compensate, so it produces weird outcomes.
      The swift smash animation was not changed aka the devs didn't create a new swift smash animation for type 2. So the animation designed to be 130 frames start to finish reacts weird when that is dropped to 106.
      What we think we are seeing technically isn't mapped to what the attack is doing.

    I haven't touched this game for a few months so pardon my ignorance. Can you use Type 2 and Type 3 at the same time? Or can you only use either? And what about wave crash? Has that one seen some improvement?

      @moreOddThanNess 9 місяців тому +1

      Only Swift Smash and 3 elements for Wand techter right now. You can only use 1 type at a time for that skill.

  • @kirara159
    @kirara159 9 місяців тому

    What about down dps? Feel like you take a pretty big hit there if you're wand only.

    • @Einhander
      @Einhander  9 місяців тому +1

      So charged type 2 is roughly 106 frames while regular/type 3 is 130 not to mention the variability in the gap closing/dash frames, so you could add a few frames.
      106 * 5 = 530
      130 * 4 = 520
      If you were to build element pursuit on down from 0 the difference is 10 frames and 19 pp efficiency in favor of type 3 ( if both skills are lvl 10).
      Dps between the type 2 and type 3 are virually equal. So it really comes down to how the fight goes. But type 3 shows advantage during that period of time when the boss is active.
