    This interview was done for the public who do not know what goes in to being a ski racer, as for the comment by DavidSkis, before you make a stupid comment about this interviewer, check out 1st who it is. In this case she would be in the top 4 female skiers of U.S.A. history!!!

    Picabo (The interviewer) was at the '98 Olympics and won the Gold medal in the Super G by beating Austria's Michaela Dorfmeister, I suspect she might know a thing or two about skiing lads...

      Well it seems like her text was written by someone else, because she talks as much nonsense as a 3 year old child would do

    you know, ligety is the best giant slalom driver of the world but this video is complete bullshit. the reason why ligety is so fast is his technique and not because he is smarter than anyone else.

    • @TheSlandis
      @TheSlandis 9 років тому +1

      His technique is unique, and he developed it. And it was smart. If you look at the history of ski racing, you will see that many of the dominant skiers of their era were so because they moved the sport ahead in some way. They figured something out that no one else was doing.

    • @sebastiangieger7874

      Sean Landis you dont invent a technique like you invent a technical machine. you dont have to be extremely clever for that

    • @TheSlandis

      Sebastian Gieger Many of the great ski racers over the years have brought some new idea, approach, or technique to the sport. Often it's triggered by advances in equipment. You are right to say he's faster because of his technique, but he was the first to approach GS the way he does. Going back, Bode took lines people thought impossible. Others like Maier, Tomba, Mahre, Stenmark, Klammer, Kiley, Eriksen, and Sailer all moved the sport forward with new technique, tactics, or leveraging of new equipment. The sport of ski racing advances in explosions. At least, that's the way I see it.

      Sebastian Gieger Are you the 'waist steering' guy? I saw a video on your page that looked like a Nastar run on Blanche at Park City Mountain Resort. Was it?

    • @sebastiangieger7874
      @sebastiangieger7874 9 років тому

      Sean Landis no i am not the waist steering guy but i had a discussion with him about teds technique too ;D
      ps: yes you are right, ted moved skiing forward but that doesnt mean he is very clever

    Ted Ligety is one of the greatest when you're talking about alpine racers; however this reporter displays zero knowledge of the sport, and doesn't create a good image of the sport for naive viewers of Fox News. She barely gives Ligety a chance to answer her questions, he spends the whole interview trying to repair her questions. If you want to know anything about ski racing, do not watch this video.

  • @shadowheart52

    He's not smarter than anybody. He just executes better. It's the same in any sport. Pitchers don't always throw strikes, hitters strike out, bowlers miss the spare, receivers drop the ball, etc. It's all about execution. It's what separates the best from the rest.

      You clearly have never ski raced. Ski racers analyze every aspect of their technique and think about the physics and biomechanics as a matter of course. I started late, as a senior in high school, and developed very quickly because I used my brain. In only two years, I got good enough to get on my college ski team as a walk on; which included a former Canadian Ski Team downhiller and a pair of Europa Cup skiers from Germany. I have skied with a Olympic gold medal winner, knew multiple people who went on to ski for the US Team, and coached for a kids’ team that had a former US Ski Team coach as our head coach. Ski racing is an extremely cerebral sport. There’s a reason so many ski racers are well educated compared to a lot of sports where education is secondary.

    This is what every pro alpine skier does. He's not smarter, he has just better execution this person writing the script knows absolutely nothing. The person writing the script should study more about the sport. (it should be the script writer asking her the say those lines Picabo is an Olympic skier)
