Our chickens only rest and eat in cages. Rest of the times they are free to play in our rooms and balcony as we do not have enough space.

The European one I just watched seemed so much more humane and clean. The chickens could at least walk around in their short miserable lives.
Chicken raised in cages exist in Europe too
This is actually cleaner, faeces is removed by belt in a lot of battery set-ups and cages cleaned daily and the eggs are cleaner and have less chance of bacteria leaking in and affecting hatchability but the downside is lack of space. Barn chickens despite best efforts have to live in their poop and it's difficult to manage foot problems and hock burn, especially for layers which live for 60 weeks and despite having space get quite lazy in their old age and love to just lay down and sleep a lot.
@@roxrus5217 "layers which live for 60 weeks," layer hens become productive around 20 weeks (+/- 2), and produce for three to four years. Substantially longer than 60 weeks.
@@CharlesLockhart Well I've been working with breeder-layers for the past 15 years and you're right about laying age, they begin to peak at 25 weeks old but after they're 40 weeks old the shells become weak and production begins to drop significantly - by week 60 you can expect ~70% production and about the same percentage hatchability. It's not worth the effort or cost.

Honestly, in the European Union you are jailed for years, you get a huge fine and the farm, which is basically a factory, is razed to the ground at your expense. It’s totaly forbidden.
Why? For the living conditions of these animale. Here they have enough space and must have to walk outside freely!
