Nice video Dan thanks. What a massive waste of your time when manufacturers supply junk; I would have been constantly swearing! Nice drop kick of that Twyford junk!
On that Worcester i was like "LOOK AT THAT PRESSURE DAN!" then remembered ya can't hear me!! 😂 Good lad, good vid!! Put a pump on a system today and never touched the shower pump...now leaking!! 🙄🤷♀️
Great video pal, love your humour, pissed myself when you hoofed that siphon onto the grass 😂😂, but yeah quality of materials these days is getting worse
Every one of those Twyford cisterns I fit I have issues with the syphon leaking, exactly the same as what you've experienced. Now when I fit them I always put silicone on them and some ptfe and that does the trick. However I have thrown them out of the cistern and fitted a viva 3 part , for peace of mind. Sometimes it can be the casting of the cistern they tend to be slightly oval. Thise flush pipe cones I chuck them away I never use them as I know they will leak and use the plastic ones which are more robust. Be mindful of some of the Twyford cisterns which appear like for like like your one, as the new ones are smaller and 6 litre as opposed to the old 2 gallon. So the fixings aren't the same or the water and overflow either.
Hi Dan the cutout on the back of the cistern is to provide a service access point to adjust or replace parts within the cistern, love your videos great work mate.
Hello Dan. Another great video. The best flush cones I’ve ever used in 19 years of plumbing are the fluidmaster flush cones from Wickes. They are black but hardly noticeable when they’re fitted. Never had one leak ! Get some. By order of the peaky blinders!!! Hope it helps.
Dan, always go brass shanks ball valves. I always keep the fluidmaster flush valve washers and they are amazing. They come in two in a pack when you buy the valve 🤓👌
Customers books an appointment for a cracked toilet change. DAN proceeds to bring in his own disco lights to start partying in there. Almost forgot how good that laser looked. Also is this a first time a plunger debut on your channel? Awesome stuff as always Dan P.S I noticed the extra effort in filming some B rolls. Keeep it up buddy
Video everything you do and then pick your content, I wish I had a video recording me yesterday, I went to an eco tec, replaced the pump to the erp one, I tried to fit new pump with the old bigger pump screws, it worked for 10 mins, I went van and came back in, power was off in house, the pump sprayed out after 10 mins of being on!!!! Blew new pump!! Luckily I had 1 in van then had to replace the complete pump!! Learned my lesson there!! Every days a learning day in this game!!
Quality video as always mate, what keeps me going is copious amounts of caffeine and watching chancers like you on UA-cam 😂😂. Could the cut out on the back of the cistern be some kind of air vent to stop mold?
Swap most of my new cistern insides for viva. Good quality stuff reasonably priced. Always use brass shanked ball valves to, it will pay off in the future.
It is leaking through the threads on the siphon, throw a couple of raps of PTFE round the siphon and you should be all good, always done the on sink and basin wastes as well. also 1/2 tap washers on the screws holing the cistern to the wall.
You'd think that in this day and age we'd have a better way of connecting sanitary ware. Its a ball ache at best and if it doesn't leak we're always pleasantly surprised 😂. Another good watch, ta.
Had a nightmare with a cistern last week. The stuff is made so cheaply. The valve just would not stop cross threading and for some reason it wouldn’t shut off! Screwfix now sell side and bottom entry plastic ballvalves with brass tails (code 155PW side and 172PW bottom)
I’ve been doing plumbing for nearly 40 years and the quality of the materials what’s coming through now is absolutely outrageous and when you tell the customer just be aware of what materials you’re picking they look at you with a blank look I think they think you’re making it up and when it goes wrong, it always seems come back on us 😡
I've had low level cisterns that just kept leaking from the nut on closer inspection there was a tiny bit of ceramic mis shaped around the hole so the rubber wouldn't sit flush after an hour of trying I just got the ct1 out and job done I use ct1 on concealed cisterns when fitting or servicing cause we all know what a absolute pig of a job it can be sorting those out especially when its tiled in and hardly any access
Always always get fittings and valves with brass threads. Okay might cost a few quid more. But less agro and more confident to install leak free. Plastic cheap fittings are just dreadful. Plastic threads will cross thread in 25% of installations.
RE: cut away in cisterns.as a trainee in 1988. Plumbing teacher at college told us that in olden days, cisterns were referred to on drawings as WWP’s, waste water preventer’s. (now wc’s) if the float valve (olden days ballcock) fails it run out the o/flow pipe cause a nuisance & get repaired. If the o/flow pipe is blocked it wil run down the back of the cistern which would have been below the height of the siphon (in olden days) & not down the pan. Hence WWP. I can’t find any evidence to back this up so I could be wrong 😬
Flush cones 😱why are they all the work of the devil......I remember finding a fantastic cone before when i was doing day to day repairs on a social housing contract.....Must've been from either Travis or Jewson at the time as they was the only merchants we was allowed to use
I take a decent multi vitamin and some extra vitamins D every day. I'm on the fence as to whether it makes a difference or not. Hardly drink any alcohol and try to just have one full strength coffee in the morning. Try anyway😂
