Thank you Papaw thanks to your video I chose the best resort. It was a great trip and I had no regrets on the discussion all because of your video. Keep up the great work 🙏🏽
I am a bit picky, even though I gravitate towards the more budget friendly resorts. I have no complaints with any of the 4 sections of the Barcelo Grand. Solid resort experience.
The drone shots are amazing, staying there this xmas 23 with entire family from Montreal. Just wondering how the place is.. I know it will be packed full of people enjoying christmas in warm Mexico. Hoping food and bars will be good for me and mom, and lots of activities for my teen aged nieces and nephews. Uncle JP.
Thanks for watching. Drone used was the DJI Mini 2 and this was my first try. I just upgraded to the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I’m headed to the RIU resorts in Cancun & Costa Mujeres 1st week in December to record all of them. Gonna try to get all 8 recorded in 5 days! The resort is an excellent size for the number of rooms. I don’t think you’ll feel overly crowded. This is a great resort complex for teenagers, plenty for them and the food and drinks are great too.
Thank you for this amazing video! I am planning to go to Rivera Maya and I am between two hotels (that I saw that actually you stay) Barcelo' Maya Beach and Bahia Principe Akumal. We are going with my parents that are about 50 years old and 4 young adults around 23 years old. What do you recommend to us? We give priority to the food, adult activities, beach, and shows. We are trying to understand which is better for our profile since we don't want to go to a hotel that is most focused on families with children. Thank you!!
Both the Barcelo and Bahia are very nice, but are family oriented. Bahia Akumal does have an adult only section and if you go when US and Canada school is in session then children are not over present. Have you been to the area before? There are better options if beach quality is your top priority. The Playacar development has several nice resorts and the beach is one of the best. Several RIU resorts and a double Iberostar are all recommended.
I did as the week before last. On two days there was quite a bit of sargassum so we did pool days. Anytime between April and November there can be none, some or Sargassum Armageddon. Cannot be forecasted.
Hello 5mn44, I'm an expat living in Yucatan Mexico. I'd like to answer your question about Sargassum. Also, My "go-to resort" is The Barcelo. Since its' opening, I've been MANY times. This year, Sargassum came to the beaches about 4 months early; in February. It usually isn't in any great quantity until late May & usually gone by mid-September. But this year, it's not only early...it's arriving in extremely heavy amounts from Cancun to Mahahual. Government authorities closely monitor the "rafts" of Sargassum from its' source & are advising hotels, resorts, etc. on the Riveria Maya to expect 2022 to be the worst season for Sargassum. As of 20 May, ALL beaches from Cancun to Mahahual are listed with "extremely excessive" amounts. It's debilitating tourism; the main source of income for The Yucatan Peninsula. So...if possible...I'd delay your travel to our beaches until late October or November. Best regards, Ben
There are a total of 6 resorts in the Barcelo Maya complex. The Riviera is an expensive adult only. The Palace is an expensive family resort. Then are the 4 “Grand Maya” resorts; Beach, Caribe, Colonial and Tropical. The 4 Grand Maya are “stay at 1, play at all 4”. Other than some architectural differences they are the same with no distinguishing qualities between them. Many large tour companies often advertise the 4 as just “Barcelo Grand Maya” and you don’t know at which your room will be until arrival. I would rate the Colonial as the slight better of the 4. But it really doesn’t matter too much.
I just email them about wearing crocs for dinner and they said "not allowed". Much disappointed because if you can't see the toes then it's not opened toe. Was trying to travel lite and avoid bringing an extra pair of shoes for the whole family of 4.
Amazing video! thank you for showing us around. Keep it up!

Awesome PaPaw!
Maybe slow those pans down a touch. Film at twice the frame rate then slow it down when you edit. Just try it.

Hello! Is this the barcelo maya grand please?
They’ve all got similar names, I want to make sure I book the right one!
Thank you

@@papawgotagopro that’s really helpful thank you!!
Hello. Was just wondering. What would you choose for April. Barcelo maya Beach or
The Bahia grande coba ?
Bahia Grand Coba every time.
Nothing wrong with any of the Barcelos. I just prefer the Bahia resorts.
How is the activity outside of the resort? Anything nearby?
There really isn’t anything within walking distance.
I just email them about wearing crocs for dinner and they said "not allowed". Much disappointed because if you can't see the toes then it's not opened toe. Was trying to travel lite and avoid bringing an extra pair of shoes for the whole family of 4.
I feel confident the person responding does not know what Crocs are. Crocs that cover all toes will be fine at the restaurants.
@@papawgotagopro I sent them a picture.
Hello, i was just wondering how the WIFi is there ?
It worked fine for me for email, Facebook and FaceTime. I wouldn’t expect it to be strong enough for live streaming.
Jeff (Papaw)
Have they banned smoking there?
Don't know. I was there in May 2022.
