  • We talk to a forestry biologist about the Emerald Ash Borer and why this little bug is killing our Ash trees. Out in the woods we find evidence of their activity and even dig one out of an Ash tree.

I find trees almost every day with ash bore here in Denver. It’s wiping them out.

Well you do allow movement of fire wood. So just down to people action.

I have a friend who cuts firewood in NY state. He has cut tons of ash. It is all dead and dying here. But none of the ash I have examined shows any trace of being eaten by borers. I am not saying this insect isn't a problem. But there is clearly something else wrong with the forest. All our hardwoods are unhealthy, diseased, dying or already dead. The trees are not using moisture properly for some reason. They are rotting standing up and large branches, unadulterated by insects, are simply snapping off and falling to the ground. I would ask everyone to find out for yourselves whether or not the original cause of the tree death is an insect. In some cases, perhaps it is. But up here, I have examined many trees while hiking, including ash wood, beech and white pine, which have either major branches that are dead and fallen, or the tree itself fell. I've seen no trace of insect in the interior of the bark or tree itself. If anyone has links / information as to what else could be weakening and causing the premature death of so many trees, predominantly hardwoods, but also cedar and pine, please send me links. We need to get to the bottom of how to save our eastern hardwood forests before it is too late.

please tell me that these bugs can't survive winters and therefore won't some to PA? Also, if you cut this as firewood and set it next to your house, is there a chance that the ash borer will enter the house or do they just not like the wood houses are made of?

Most of all infestations come from Asia.

Towers blast aether field to control weather, which stops the natural healing/sap of the trees. Allofem.
